I have found that the days I work out, I am not as apt to want to snack, so that is telling me that when I think I am hungry, it is usually just boredom.

I plan my meals in advance, including my snacks, which forces me to workout on specific days to accommodate additional calorie consumption. Also, everything is portioned out in to single serve packaging so that when I do find I want a snack, I can just grab and go.

Also, I don't keep anything in the house that I wouldn't eat on a daily basis, ie: cookies, candy, chips, etc .... if I do manage to wiggle a treat in to my menu, I will purposely go to the store and buy and individual serving. I know it cost more, but in the end it is worth that extra expense to me. I have a BAD sugar tooth and if it is here, even with all good intentions, I WILL EAT IT!!!

Interesting to see how everyone else deals with this. Great tips, ideas and strategies to try. Thanks!!

Water, water, water. I pre-pack individual servings of good snacks so I can easily grab one. I tell myself if I'm still hungry 15 minutes after a big glass of water, I'll have one of those snacks. Usually, it passes.

For me, the craving occur when I bored, stressed out, or depressed. Often, I just get up and take a short walk even if it's into to the another room, read, or do something different. I also keep healthy snacks around, mostly vegetables, air popped popcorn, and chewing gum. Sometimes I'll have some green or herbal tea.

I choose a healthy snack with a lot of protein so that it fills me up and I'm not feeling hungry all the time. Like I'll eat some good quality crackers and peanut butter or some cheese or something similar, and then maybe I'll make a fruit smoothie (just had one of those with dinner - banana, strawberries, blueberries, pineapples, ice, and a splash of juice), or if I don't have time for that, I'll grab a Naked smoothie or something similar - we typically have a decent assortment of individual-sized smoothies and juices so the teens can "grab and go" on the way to school. Even if my "snack" is 300 calories or more, at least they're quality calories, and then I just eat a smaller next meal.

I know I'm having one of "those moments" when I find myself opening the door of the fridge and can't figure out why I'm doing it. emoticon It's usually when I feel at a loss for where to begin, what to do with my day, overburdened, stressed...... A lot of times I'll just say out loud to myself "Put one foot in front of the other"....and I'll do 5 little things that might seem insignificant, but make me feel like I'm doing something.

I have the reverse problem...I hardly ever notice hunger at work (because I'm usually so busy running around taking care of stuff that I don't have time to think about it). There will even be days at work when I end up not eating all day because I simply didn't have time to stop. At home all I can think about is eating. In the end, all I can do is try and get my mind off of it and distract myself (assuming I don't have the calories to eat something substantial) because if I even eat something small...I'll just get more and more hungry.

What works best for me is to get a big drink of water, a banana, the dogs leash and get out of the house. Unforantly, that isn't always possible

When I have those feelings, I always want chocolate, especially cookies. I avoid the cookie isles in the grocery store so I'm not tempted to buy them. If they aren't in the house, the feelings will eventually go away if I stay busy.

QUESTION: How do you deal with feeling like you need to eat all the time? I seem to be dealing with this more when I'm at work than at home.

I have been eating lots of air-popped popcorn.

Take Care and God bless,
