Thanks Dizzy, that was a great post! I have plenty of hills in my life. I'm working on identifying them and finding ways to overcome them.

Avoiding those.... thing.

If you are overweight, you know the things I'm talking about.

You have a route from your office to your car that involves as minimal effort as possible and absolutely no stairwells. You have a route from your car to the grocery store and damn if you don't park as close to the door as possible. A route between buildings on campus that involve as many elevator rides as possible.

Those things we avoid are classified as effort. (Or hopefully when we achieve our goals we can classify them as opportunities to display our fitness. But for now they're effort.)

I have a pathway from my car to campus that involves going up a hill. I have tried to catch every shuttle imaginable that will get me on campus to avoid that hill. But it comes at a cost. If I take the shuttle, I will be late for class, guaranteed.

So what did I do?

Instead of climbing the hill and getting to class on time, I arrived to school earlier to catch an earlier shuttle to avoid the hill.

WHAT NONSENSE IS THIS?!

For the last few weeks I've taken the hill. I couldn't believe the level of inactiveness I was settling for that allowed one tiny hill to dictate my entire morning! And I trot up it with a tenacious spirit and with a stomp in my step. That's my hill now, I own it and I'll be damned if I let it be one of those things I avoid any longer.

Its the small hills in our life that we need to say 'No More!' to and get over them and get on. What's your hill? And how are you going to overcome it?

I just found this blog post, and I found it so motivating that I wanted to share it with the rest of you in case you didn't see it. We all need to think this way!
