What you need to do is make a plan to help you get through the holidays. Sparks has some good articles here, I also posted a link under our nutrition thread for the holidays.

My biggest challenge is getting started and then staying on track for longer than a week. Did great prior and during Halloween and lost 3 lbs, but hub brought home candy a few days ago and needless to say, I'm back to square one!

I don't even want to think about the time between Thanksgiving and New Year's.

My challenge for me is to be under 200 by christmas.Which mean watch out for the hoildays cooking. Just keep the portion down and not
to over eat during the hoildays.I been on so many diets and none of them worked.Cause as you lose the weight and put it back on when you went off the diet.I have found that if you watch what you eat and your portions and to exercise every day you start losing the weight. You have to make healthy choices and change your life style and to exercise.
To take little steps at a time. I started a plan to lose weight in apirl and so far I lost 26lbs.I watch the biggest loser show and it has help me.You dont have to be on the show to have Bob and Jillian help just list to what they say when you watch the show.
That what I do and they both has help me. I workout 6 days aweek. On my day off I walk around the mall or at flea market just so Im not just sitting around doing nothing. So I want to be under 200 by christmas. Also I am looking for a buddy to chat with. Thanks Spark

The new weekend challenge sounds great. That is when I seem to be out of routine and do everything wrong. so this weekend I will drink 8 glasses water a day and get in 30 min exercise. I know I picked two but my weekends are really bad. It would be great to do this every weekend.

i guess for me, i really don't care how much i weigh... ok, so that's a lie, but it's not what is important to me right now. i just want to start feeling the best i can. sure, i have to lose weight in order to do that... i figure it's a kill two birds with one stone type of thing.

long story short, my challenge is to do cardio as often as i can pretty much.

My current challenge is to be under 200 by the first of the year. Unfortunately, I have lots of relatives who super great cooks. It will be be hard not eat one of my Aunt Linda's famous sugar cookies over the holidays. If I even have one then I will want another and another......soooo challenge maybe an understatement!

Barbara I wish I had followed those Birthday cake rules from April - September! It could have saved me some pounds! My kids birthdays and both mine and my husbands fall in April, August and just into September. lol

I actually set a kind of unrealistic goal for myself as far as weight loss goes. I wanted to get to 318 by January. I know I probably won't see that type of results, but the way I do see it is.. I'm still going to lose weight. Even if I don't meet that goal. I still want to try. I'm figuring out what my body responds to best and what I can get myself to do yet. I'm on my way :)

I too am trying to figure out when to fit in exercise. As a homemaker, I felt like I can always exercise "later" emoticon But, that later never happens. So, now I am fitting it in early. emoticon Taking care of myself is my JOB. emoticon

We are all human and none of us are perfect. So if you do have the occasional slip, just forgive yourself and move onward. You need to learn that things happen in life and it's how we deal with it.

Okay a birthday party comes up, what I do is go cut my own piece of cake, a tiny sliver, maybe a spoonful of ice cream, I have not deprived myself and it satisfies me. It's not going to hurt my week's hard work.

My biggest weight loss challenge is being so strict on myself that after a few days of being really "good", I want to eat everything in sight. I lack balance in my eating habits and that is what I'm striving for and hoping to achieve here. I am already getting a much better grasp on the whole concept, but there's still a long journey ahead.

Melpa10, Barbara is right. Diets DO NOT work. Your goal is to learn to make healthy choices most of the time. You are changing your lifestyle to enjoy better health.

The weight loss part is the TEMPORARY deficit in calories you must maintain in order to lose weight.

The first suggestion I have for you is to take baby steps. Don't try to make wholesale changes. See if you can eliminate maybe 100 calories a day or make sure you are drinking 8 glasses of water.

The second suggestion I can give you is to eliminate processed foods from your diet. I usually recommend people also eliminate high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), but that's because I'm a diabetic and this chemical plays havoc with my blood sugars.

To keep from getting bored you need to branch out and try new things. I tried spaghetti squash for the first time and found a new food I can enjoy.

Try ethnic foods that give food extra flavors. I recently had Moroccan food for the first time and OMG I was in heaven. And it was only a bowl of soup!

My third suggestion would be to come up with a plan. What works for me is using part of my weekend to come up with my meal plan for the week, shop for ingredients and prepare in advance. It takes practice, but after 5 months, I can honestly say it's now just another part of my routine, like brushing my teeth.

The last, and by far the BIGGEST suggestion I can make is to find what motivates you. Because you need to be truly ready to alter your lifestyle. You have to be in the right frame of mind for this to work.

It's hard to change a lifetime of bad habits. But you can do it. Find your motivation. For me it was fear of developing diabetic complications.

Once you've found the right attitude, you will be able to make the lifestyle changes you need to get healthy (and lose weight).

My biggest challenge is getting back on track, I too love to sleep in especially since the weather has cooled off, I need to get up first thing and do my workout, cause after a day's work I will use every excuse not to work out.

I've hit a plateau with my weight and I know I must keep pushing myself hard to get off it.

As for getting excited about the program, doing it for 2 or 3 weeks, then not excited any more, you have approached this as a "diet". You need to approach this as a lifestyle change. You are making new changes to your life that will get rid of bad habits in exchange for newer ones, and they will make you healthier !

So how about working on this rather than a "diet", cause diets don't work !

My biggest weight loss challenge is eating out with people who do not respect my dietary needs as a diabetic, especially if they choose a Chinese restaurant (totally not good).

There's bread on the table, everyone's ordering appetizers and drinks and I have to wait forever for everyone to get thru those courses.

I can actually handle not having bread and watching everyone eat the things I can't. What's hard is the prodding and comments that "just eating one won't hurt you." Yes, it will.

No means no guys. And I don't feel deprived. I just make different choices.

My biggest challenge is to do all the right things to help myself get to sleep on time. I am a life long insomniac (the kind who has trouble falling asleep), I have been sleeping pretty well since May this time, and now I am starting to 'cheat' a little and push how late I stay up, etc. I am blowing off my rituals.

If I stay up too late, I don't want to get up to do my 20 minute morning workout, and it's harder to get through the day and do my evening workouts.

It also have an impact on the types of foods I want, and my body's general health - many chemical issues with lack of sleep.

I need to MAKE myself get back to my rituals.

I think my biggest challenge right now is actually enjoying the process. I seem to get excited and then a week or two later get frustrated because I get bored of the healthy food and feel guilty if I try to enjoy myself.

I am also open to suggestions if anyone has any on how to enjoy weight loss.

Well ladies as for me, I have planned to loose 10Lbs by November 17th. I started this challenge on Oct 17th. Right now it's slow but I'm sure I'll meet up with my plans.

do you mean challenges we are having with our weight loss (i.e., difficulties and problems)? or do you mean what team challenges are we involved in??

as for the first one, not having a gym is challenging for me. as for the second one, i am involved in jillian's 30 day shred challenge, losing 5lb by nov. 1st, losing 10lbs by dec. 1st, oh and the weekly challenge on this team. i think that's it...there probably are more.

sorry if i misunderstood your question!
