MIRTHA90,

Also just remember that to lose 1 pound per week you would have to take in 500 calories per day less (1 pound = 3500 calories, hence 500 x 7 days = 1 pound).

And it's really difficult to do that by exercise alone. But it is quite doable by reducing daily caloric intake by 250 and burning 250 via exercise.

Also, remember as you lose weight your total caloric content might need further reduction (the less you weigh the less calories your body needs).

Good luck.

Thanks Barbara! That link really did help (I had trouble understanding how BMR worked in with caloric intake and exercise as well.)

Hi,
No thats not quite how it works, as we'd be at the gym all day, our bodies need so many calories to just function, and as mines worked out as a 25yr old male with a fairly active job i need about 2400cals a day to have the energy for the day.
Now if i only eat 1500cals, my body is using up the extra stored 900cals from my fat cells to give me the energy i need, and thats how u loose weight. Exersizing just lets u burn my energy, as long as you arnt eating more to do it.

MAY SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW THE CALORIES IN VS. CALORIE OUT RULE WORKS? I'M SORT OF CONFUSED... SCRATCH THAT... I AM CONFUSED!!

FOR EXAMPLE IF I EAT 2,000 CALORIES A DAY, DO I HAVE TO BURN MORE THAN 2,000 CALORIES AT THE GYM FOR THAT DAY? IS THAT HOW IT WORKS?

PLEASE HELP!
