I am wondering if anyone knows when you are looking at the weekly menus...it asks how many you are serving. I serve only 1 for breakfast and lunch...but 5 for dinner. Is there any way to indicate this for the grocery list at the end?

I pre-ordered Spark the Book by way of links on the SParkPoint page but did not receive my 1000 points.. What to do?

I'm very off-kilter with my sleep too. After asking for the challenge, I suddenly realized that I could not participate this week because with everyone in my house there has been so little downtime.

However, we are almost completely out of Thanksgiving leftovers already, so hey... that's a plus!

As for holiday shopping... Ha! I have not even started yet.

I've been popping in here every day, but the new content only seems to be in people's blogs.

Go to your sparkpage and click 'Edit my sparkpage'.

Once the edit screen is up, scroll down and look along the rightside column where it has 'Other information', 'signature', etc and you will see 'Profile Image'. click the link to 'change this image' and it will allow you to upload a photo, choose one from your gallery or 'choose a picture from our success gallery' which is the ones like 'lost 10lbs with sparkpeople' etc.

If you need more help- shoot me an email and I'll get with you, ok?

Good luck!

Anything you add to mileage will automatically be added to cardio too. Elliptical should just be added to cardio on its own!

Good job!

I am feeling stupid but I still cannot figure out how to get "lost 5 lbs, 10lbs,etc" upload to my pictures. I can't find where to do it. I looked on my sparks page, did update, update pictures and all it lets me do is upload my own pictures. It gives me no choice.

Thanks!

KINGCRAZY - No, you aren't bulking up, and if you are doing strength and cardio weekly then you are on the right track! There could be several reasons for not seeing the numbers move on the scale, but the most common is water! When you start a new program, increase the weight you are using or reps that you are doing your muscles will retain a bit of water to repair! This is normal... the weight will drop off! I too would highly recommend taking measurements now and often during your journey here! Progress isn't just a number on the scale but measured in MANY ways. Know that what you are doing is working and the results just haven't shown their face yet! Most times this is when people throw in the towel because they figure what is the use if nothing is going to come of the hard work! DON'T let it get you down! Keep that spark burning bright!!!

Kingcrazy --

Take your measurements, then check back in a month. If you are gaining muscle, that's a good thing. Muscle weighs three times as much as fat and looks so much more trim and firm.

The whole month of September I plateaued. Then I checked my measurements one month later, and wow. I had lost an inch on my waist, two inches on my hips, four inches on my thighs!

If you're building muscle, rejoice. The pounds will come off eventually but you are still making progress.

Rainbowbrite,
I had strep throat and was running a fever on the 10th and my son's birthay party was the next day. I started my antibiotics the 10th so I went. I was feeling better so I skated with him a bit. Boy I regretted it later. As soon as I got home, my fever was back and I was completely down and out. It took me 2 more days to completely recover and get back to exersizing at all. I feel that if I hadn't pushed it, I would have been able to get back on track sooner. Listen to your body. I didn't get all the exersise in and didn't eat like I should for a few days so I didn't loose any weight last week; but, didn't gain any either! My clothes feel looser than they did the week before too! Now I'm completely back on track and feel that the scale will move for next week!

AWATSON05 - Everyone loses at a different rate, please don't let others number discourage you! Many, many factors determine the losses people see, could be water retention, the total number of pounds you have to lose, whether you were exercising before, the type of diet you had been eating... these just to name a few! If you are tracking your nutriton and exercising on a regulary basis (30 minutes minimum cardio 4-5 days a week) you will see those numbers drop! Hope that helps a bit!!

I hope this hasn't been asked anywhere else, but I have to know!

In the pounds dumpster, how is everyone losing so much weight in a week? I'll admit, getting back on the healthy eating train hasn't been very successful for me, but I'm working at it!

RAINBOWBRITE - I think that exercise during illness is a personal choice. I would say that if you have the flu or something then your body would need time to recover, but I have exercise much during my journey here with sinus infections and such! Listen to your body... if you are fatigued from the workout then take a day off! Hope that helps, and you are feeling better soon!

I started getting a sore throat yesterday, and now I am pretty sure I have full blown tonsilitis. (I get it a lot so I am pretty good at knowing when I have it) I have been told that you shouldn't work out when you are sick; is this true? I have a 9 day streak in strength training and I really don't want to mess that up, but I know being healthy is more important. I don't want to turn healthy behavior into an unhealthy obesession...

HILARYMM - Any fruits and veggies count, but whole fresh are always best! I like to avoid canned, bottled and bagged stuff as it usually has so much sugar added.

As for serving sizes... OJ would be a 4oz serving and most others are 1/2 cup or the size of your fist, although leafy veggies have a serving size of 1 cup! As for beans, I would consider those to be more in the category of protein!

SP has some great articles about Freggies and serving sizes if you wish to check them out!

Hope that helps... looks like you are doing a GREAT job with the challenge!!!

I have a question for CookieDog. What counts for the freggie challenge, and what is a serving size?

As a vegetarian, nearly everything I eat is plant derived. So I am wondering if any of the following count:

* orange juice (I've drunk it and tracked it, but didn't count it)
* dried beans that you cook up (eaten and tracked, but I did not count them)
* baked beans from a can (eaten and tracked, but not counted in my total)
* dried fruits like raisins and craisins

So far, I've only been counting fresh whole fruits and veggies, but I was wondering what counted towards the challenge.

KRAMTHEGRAM... if you sent your order confirmation to the SP address given it should show up in about 2 business days! I ordered mine on a Friday and got my points and icon on Monday! Hope that helps!

YOOVIE - Beginning a new exercise program or adding additonal exercise will cause your muscles to retain water at times... I would think that is part of it, but It isn't possible for those to be 10 actual pounds unless you ate 35,000 calories more than your body needed to function that day! And even if you had ate those fries it isn't possible!! LOL

I had on no clothes, I had just used the bathroom, it was teh same time I always weight myself, 8 am. The only thing I can think of is that its something to do with my legs being swollen from my 5K on Tuesday? I do have a good digital scale but I dont know.

Thank you!

Either you're bloated, your stomach is full, or you have much more clothing on this time. Normally your weight can change about 2lbs over the course of a day. Other than that, it might be you scale. A decent scale costs around 40bucks, the cheaper ones can be quite off just by shifting your weight.
