I just found out that I will have to cook for Thanksgiving. My family plans were up in the air because my brother is very sick. My parents had to leave to take care of him and I didn't want my mom to worry about the holiday. So I offered to take over the cooking for her. I am keeping it simple though. Without a lot of time to prepare, that's all I can do. My sisters are both going to help out by bringing something. Everyone knows I am watching my weight, They will not torture me by having me prepare the pies. They are bringing them. Wish me luck!

We will be hosting another family. Our feast will include all the traditional favorites including sweet potato pie. Am planning on practicing portion control and (hopefully)going for a walk, using the dog and possibly the children as an excuse to go out for a bit :) emoticon

PS Thanks Team for the goodie when I crossed 1250 activity minutes emoticon

We are going to my in-laws. I have a fairly good idea of what my mother-in-law will be serving. I have done running there, so I know that I will be able to workout.

I am fairly confident that I can remain in control, but I doubt I will be able to track as accurately with recipes and measuring. Luckily, my mother-in-law is very health conscious and great at portion control. Unfortunately, I am not so good at portion control with her great cooking.

We are driving to my sister-in-laws...a 9 hour trip. I have no idea what she will be serving, but I plan on practicing portion control. The hotel we are staying at has a pool and fitness center, so I am bringing along my workout wear.

The part I am a little nervous about is taking the train into Chicago for some deep dish pizza. I have no idea how many calories are in one slice, but it can't be good! We've never eaten Chicago style deep dish pizza, so I am hoping to just have fun with the whole experience.

You need to always remember YOU are in control of what goes in your mouth!

You are worth the effort it takes to say no to things you know are not healthy for you.

We are going to my sister-in-laws and she is a wonderful cook. I am hoping I do better than I have in previous years....try to pick the healthy choices anyway.

We're having Thanksgiving at our house this year. My husband's brother and wife usually come to spend Thanksgiving week with us here in Georgia and they, along with our family of 5 and my husband's sister and her husband will all go out for lunch at the Green Manor. Although the southern style food was yummy, it was REALLY expensive, so we decided to cook in this year. Since my husband's brother and wife stay at our house, we decided to host the meal. We're going to call Honey Baked Ham and place an order for a spiral cut ham and a turkey breast. I will probably also order some side dishes and then make a nice healthy salad. I will have my 19 year-old daughter bake a pie and probably have the 22 year-old bake some cookies.

We don't celebrate Thanksgiving over here but All Saints' Day.
In the morning, we just go to the graveyard and put some flowers on the graves, and this is it.

Then, we'll be having lunch at my aunt & uncle's with the whole family. I have no idea about the lunch plan, my aunt will cook me something a bit different as I'm a vegetarian.
All I know is the dessert, and it is not going to be light!

And in the afternoon, we'll go to buy our skis -there is a sort of big garage sale -only for skis- in the ski resort near where I live. I'll be looking for two good pairs of racing skate skis for DH and I.

We are going to my in-laws for Thanksgiving. I have not figured out how to handle that situation, yet. Historically, I normally do not do very well. Looking for tips.

Thanksgiving is just another day for us because my husband has to work. I will be cooking a healthy dinner of baked stuffed porkchops, fresh green beans and baked sweet potatoes.
Dessert will be a fruit and yogurt smoothie.

Have a great thanksgiving and I can hardly wait to hear all about yours!

This is the place to record your plans for Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is normally a time to over eat but we will do the best we can to be prepared and control our eating this season!

If you are hosting the dinner tell everyone what you are serving. You can even share your favorite recipe here.

If you are attending a dinner that someone else prepares share what you plan to do to stay on track.
