I freeze grapes in baggies, good for a quick snack.
When I make cupcakes I found if I add an extra egg and some heavy cream they will come out moist.
water or milk has the tendency to make cupcakes dry.

the tips on here are great keepers. :)
hugs, Paula :)

Sorry was not able to be on yesterday but I'm back and here is another tip: Test for Baking Power: If you're unsure about the freshness of your baking powder try this test: put one teaspoon in 1/3 cup of water. If the water does not fizz toss the baking powder. It's too old.

Maybe the cupcakes turned out dry because they were cooked too long? Not really sure what could of happened. Should of turned out to taste the same if same ingredients were used.

I have a question I was hoping someone could answer. My roomate had used a recipe for chocolate cake that she found on a box of baking cocoa and it turned out awesome, and moist. But when she followed the exact recipe and made cupcakes, they turned out dry. What could have happened and how can it be prevented?

If you have too many lemons just squeeze them and put juice in ice trays after frozen put in a zip-lock bag and freeze. Fresh lemon juice any time just defrost.

Good morning all! here is the tip for Monday morning? Bakery breads can really be difficult to slice. The fix: Turn the loaf on its side so you cut through the top and the bottom crusts at the same time. You'll end up with sandwich-perfect slices. emoticon

Here are a few more tips, but not only for just baking easier...clean up too!

To easily remove burnt on food from your skillet, simply add a drop or two of dish soap and enough water to cover bottom of pan, and bring to a boil on stovetop.

Spray your TUPPERWARE with nonstick cooking spray before pouring in tomato based sauces and there won't be any stains.

Wrap celery in aluminum foil when putting in the refrigerator and it will keep for weeks.

When boiling corn on the cob, add a pinch of sugar to help bring out the corn's natural sweetness.

It is also better to use eggs that are at least 2 or 3 days old rather than fresh eggs. I use a spoon to peel off the shell.

If you are wondering what to do with some of your fruits in your fruit bowl that are past their prime, don't throw it out - make something delicious with them:

Apples: cut them in thick slices, saute with pork chops or chicken breasts and thinly sliced onion.

PEARS: Puree and stir into a butternut squash soup.

PEACHES OR NECTARINES; instant fruit crisp! top with crumbled oatmeal cookies and microwave.

ORANGES: JAZZ up water or club soda, juice oranges, add a little sugar and freeze in ice cube trays.

BANANAS: (I do this one always) freeze them in their peel, then use in muffin mixes or smoothies.

KIWIS: are natural meat tenderizer. Crush into a marinade.

Glad you like the tips and one a day sounds good to me so here goes? When freezing fruit for pies mix in all the ingredients called for in the recipe then line a pie pan with plastic wrap and freeze the filling in the pie pan. When the filling is completely frozen, remove it to a plastic bag. This way,the filling is ready to drop into a pie shell and bake at a moment's notice.

Wow, I used both of those tonight in my mashed sweet potatoes... the marshmallow's were in the refrig, and they were just fine, the brown sugar was in a closed tight container and it was also doing ok. But I love all these helpful tips!

Did you know about keeping lettuce from getting stale or brown, you put in a bowl and place a paper towel on top. keeps fresh for quite some time!

Oh my gosh, is there EVER a nasty taste to the ice cubes! I highly recommend you never do this. The best way to get the ice cubes to pop out is one of two: 1) your husband and/or 2) your kids.

Yeah, I know, like THAT will ever happen.

You can also put the brown sugar into a container, then put a piece of bread on top before you put the lid on the container. However, you need to change the bread after a week or so, because the bread gets hard.

I heard of spraying Pam into ice cube trays as well. Suppose to make the ice cubes pop out easier, but I have never tried it because I'm afraid there might be a odd taste to the ice cubes.

Now, I've been baking a zillion years it seems, but I didn't know about these! The brown sugar one (and marshmallow) is terrific!

Same thing with measuring honey. Rub a bit of oil in the cup and the honey will come out easily.

You can also spray your measuring cup with PAM before filling with shortening and get the same result.

Store brown sugar and marshmallows in the freezer. They never get hard or stale!
To Get all the shortening out of your measuring cups when making cakes or cookies, crack an egg in the cup first tilt the cup to coat all sides with the egg, then pour out. Now fill the cup with shortening-it will plop right out,all in one piece. Cleanup is easier too! I got more but don't want you to get tired of them?
