Thank you all for this great thread. My feet have been killing me for the last 10 days, probably from plyo - but love it too much to stop. Will try to order from Zappo's

All, thanks for the excellent advice :) I ended up getting the Rykas, and have been using them regularly now. They are terrific! My feet are beginning to recover.

Meredith, I'll try the site you suggested for a second pair, so as to alternate.

An unexpected benefit with these Rykas is that they are much smaller than the shoes I'd been using, and fit much more neatly into my travel bags :)

I have troubled feet LOL. Had surgery on both to help correct damage done from over pronating during running. I have a very hard time finding shoes that feel good. I've finally found shoes that I LOVE! Ryka N-gage Studio Mid...ordered from Zappos. I just ordered my 5th pair. The only problem that I've noticed is that the don't seem to last long. But of course Cathe workouts would be hard on any shoe.

Once you find what you like, try ordering from these guys. They are discount & I order from them all the time (I replace shoes every 3-4 months). Great prices.

This will be my first time using Zappos - I keep hearing good things about the service, and since there isn't a Ryka vendor around here, it seemed like a good excuse to check them out :) Shani, Jamie, I'm glad you've have good experiences with them!

I'll be travelling this week, and the shoes should be here by the weekend :)

Zappos is great! I've never had to return a pair of shoes but the process seems really easy. Shipping is fast and free...always a good combination!

I've used zappos and was really impressed. The shoes arrive very fast and the package is easy to return if they don't fit or look right. I don't use them often, mostly because I normally have to try on a gazillion amount of shoes before I decide I like them (technical term by the way!). I've reordered pairs I liked that way, but with the return policy I suppose I could use them more often.

I've backslidden... I reached my goal and was now maintaining, but now I need to lose 10 pounds and firm up.

Have you used Zappos? Do you like it? I'm thinking of trying them for dress shoes, but I have such a hard time getting them narrow enough. I went shopping last weekend and had no luck finding anything - so discouraging - probably why I haven't bought a new pair of dress shoes in 3-4 years.
At least I know where to find my running shoes. :)

Wow! Thanks, everyone, this is a great set of ideas! My feet will appreciate the change :)

I'll check to see what we have locally, and it looks like the Rykas are at Zappos for a good price, so I'll try a pair of those also. Nice to have that option of returning with free shipping.

hmmm. those Adidas sound good! I have a fairly narrow foot but also a slender foot (not deep) and most toe boxes are WAY too big so that I have calouses (sp?) on my big toe and little toe. I also wear orthotics for the high arch so having a deeper heel is really good since the orthotic makes my foot sit higher in the shoe and I've had problems with them slipping off!

Great thread.

I wear Adidas for two reasons. They tend to run small, and my true size is about 8.25 so their 8.5 fit me just right. The other thing is I have chronic problems with my achilles tendons and Adidas tend to have a higher heel than most other shoes. Their toebox is also rather narrow & that just feels better on my feet. Guess that's 3 reasons..ha.
I met with a PT who specializes in shoe fitting - she gets paid just to do that - & she steered me to Adidas many years ago. My favorite model is SuperNova, I will have a cow when they stop making it.

I have to wear New Balance because I have super narrow feet. They are the only ones I know who make decent shoes in narrow. Right now I have 1224's and I really like them. Good cushioning and overall support, and they came in pink - 1st time I've ever found anything that wasn't blue and white in my size. :)

I like Rykas because they are very good for people with high arches (and I do) - great lateral support. I am currently using a pair of dance Nike shoes, (little tread so easy on the knees when you do pivoting) but they provide next to no lateral support. I'm still in search of a pair that have enough shock absorption, lateral support, ankle support (from several sprains) that is good for working out on carpet!

I have a pair of Ryka hightops and I love them. Ryka sells studio and cross-training shoes that are designed specifically for aerobics. The hightops provide stability in my ankles, too. My only complaint is that I need a new size...who knew that losing 100 pounds would make my feet shrink!

Hi all,

My feet are beginning to complain about my Cathe workouts, and I think it is time for new shoes! I'd been wearing old running shoes for step, and (blush) barefoot for strength training and kickbox.

But the heavier STS weights seem to be having an effect, and it's clear the cushioning of my old pair isn't up to plyometrics.

For hiking, I have good hiking shoes, so this pair is for indoors.

What brands do the rest of you use, and how did you choose?

Thanks,
Shadowpup
