Carla, GOOD luck on making your goal! When I am really pushing myself on a 5K, and I have the last 3 of 4 races (The last 2 I was chasing my 9YO daughter emoticon ) I talk to myself continually, always positive self talk.

Mantras: I can do this! I am strong enough! I have trained hard!

When I need some humor: I am woman, hear me roar! Every mile is worth the while!

You will have an emoticon race.

I'm running a 5K next weekend and I'm hoping to break my PR of 37:32. I have heart problems so despite running for 2.5 years, I'm still on the slow side. I'm not sure I've trained hard enough to break my PR, but I've been training harder the past week, and I've been eating really clean for a few weeks. So....the only variable to play with now is my mind! How do you talk to yourself on race day? Visualizations? Inspire me!

If you don't like the road you're walking, start paving another one!
