Just saw this excellent thread and I have to concur, I never did more than 12 miles. I'm such a slacker!

I agree with ROXYZMOM. You have time for two more long runs. I would work up to at least 12 miles. Then taper. If you are doing your long runs on Thursday, that puts your 12 mile run on 2 October and gives you a 10 day taper. Keep running at least three days a week, but cut your distance in half. Jeff's HM plan has a 5 mile long run the weekend before the race and a 14 mile long run two weeks before the race, just for some context.

Personally, I would keep adding distance my long run until I hit 12 miles, then drop to 8 or 9 the week before.

Good morning. So my first every run/race is October 19th and I am doing the 1/2 marathon. I am doing run 10 - walk 1 consistently - doing some short runs of 5 kms 3 times a week and increasing my long runs once a week weekly. So last week on Thursday September 18th I ran 16 km (approx 10 miles). Felt great, did an epson salt bath afterwards. The Toronto Scotiabank Marathon is on October 19th I am doing the half marathon. I have 4 weeks left of training - question to all of you with experience do i continue adding 1 or 2 kms per week to 1 long run?
Example this Thursday should i do a 17 or 18 kms run and then next week do either a 18 or 19km run?
Do I continue doing 2 or 3 5kms runs weekly?
I want to make sure I am prepared but at the same time don't want to cause injury or not rest when I should.
I haven't run since last Thursday was planning on doing a 5km run today.
Ok all responses would be great appreciated - as mentioned this is my very first event I am not about finishing time at this point, for me the accomplishment is everything :)

Life is good - Live yours today!
