Yes walk at the beginning. I replayed that section of the podcast so I could get the details down right.

Interesting! You walk the beginning?

I was listening to the extra mile experiment podcast and Kevin--the podcaster was talking to Jeff Galloway. The question came up---what do you do if you miss a long run. I have never notice this in his books.

Here is what he said

You would walk the portion of the next run that you were in deficit

For instance--training for the marathon, Long runs every three weeks
Run 17 mile, missed 20 miles
Since you have not had a long run for 6 weeks the 17 mile run is worth 12-13 miles

So you now have a 23 mile run on your schedule but your most recent long run is worth 13 miles, so you walk 10 miles and then run 13 miles with a conservative walk/run ratio. Then you bump your next long run up to what you have on your schedule. Probably 26, in this example.
