I've often joked about how I think I could survive on nothing but Chocolate Outrage GU but have never actually had it for breakfast. I just might have to try that for my next run. Normally, I eat an Arnolds Sandwich round with peanut butter, wait about 20 minutes, throw on my running shorts and go.

I usually eat a banana and/or a nutrition gel. Both can be consumed just before running, don't sit heavy on the stomach, and (especially in the case of the gel) actually provide available energy for the run (most breakfasts don't because they are still being digested for some time).

Hi guys,
Thanks so much for these forum boards! I'm getting so much great information just from lurking and reading!

I have a question for you guys. I've been actually getting up earlier in order to run at dawn when the day is cooler (it's especially necessary since I'm right now visiting a friend in Southern Illinois, and the heat index during the day is so bad that the county is issuing health warnings).

Anyway, I have been getting acid reflux/heartburn during the first 30 minutes of my run because I'm running on an empty stomach, and I tend to have a very acidic stomach when I first wake up.

An option is to wake up an hour earlier (groan) in order to eat a small breakfast, but I'm SO not a morning person and getting up early is already a stretch for me.

Do any of you have ideas on what I can eat maybe 15 minutes before my run that's quickly digestible and not too acidic?

Thanks in advance!
Camy
