Dilute Gatorade power also works. Really dilute. Maybe 25% of the directions, tops.

I was also concerned about this earlier in my health journey. Considering I eat a lot of fruits that have a lot of water in them. I thought I could count that towards my water intake. My conclusion was to make sure I drank my 64oz of water per day. Adding lemon or lime juice, or apple cider to it for flavor.

Hello, All,

I want to thank everyone who commented on this post. I posted it on 4 team's boards, and am amazed at how much discussion, and how many different opinions there are. The process has been wonderful! I've also had a couple of very helpful articles posted, but again, they were not totally in agreement. I'm still not sure where I stand on this one, but I will say that I'm much better informed, thanks to you all! I really appreciate it.

Peace,

Tom

P.S. If anyone wants to weigh in on the topic, please don't let my post here signal that the topic is closed. I really am enjoying this topic, and learning a ton.

The solution to pollution is dilution. Your liquid needs t be diluting fat / calories / bad stuff. Put another way, weight is lost through liquid elimination. Weigh yourself before and after going to sleep (and if you are like me, being up one or twice for a potty run) and you will see the difference.

So, to me half-and-half in your coffee negates the benefit. I put a little dilute cherry concentrate in my water (for gout) and its basically still countable water because - to me - it looks like water. Ditto unsweetened iced tea of lemonade. No to anything with alcohol, caffeine or an opaque or near-opaque color.

I get my 8 cups of actual water at the gym each morning. By the time I get to the office, I don't have to worry with it. (I might have a couple of more cups over the course of the day) Works for me.

I count my coffee (which I drink black with no milk, sweeteners, etc), iced tea (also no additives) and of course water as my water. Anything that has significant calories (i.e..wine, mixed drinks, juice) I do not. I have no trouble getting in my 8 cups -- in fact. most days it is closer to 15.

I'm not a doctor but I play one with womens sometimes. :)

If I understand correctly, alcohol and caffeine are both diuretics, so they're like negative water. I don't know that they're a -1 ounce for ounce, but I figure that's a good guide.

You also get a fair amount of water from the food you eat, particularly fruit.

I read a study that claimed you don't NEED 64 ounces of water a day, but it's a pretty good way to make sure you're getting enough.

Clear as mud.

Hello, All
I知 posting this to a couple of groups, because I知 interested in getting a bunch of feedback on this question. As the topic indicates, my question is simply, 展hat is water?
To clarify, for tracking and health purposes, what can I track/count towards my water total: only pure H-2-O, or any liquid that I drink? I drink a lot, but not a whole lot of pure, unflavored water.
So, would you consider my morning coffee (with Splenda and a touch of half and half) to be tracked as water? How about my decaffeinated iced tea (also with Splenda, and perhaps a touch of lime juice)? How about the occasional diet soda, or the 1 beer that I like to enjoy in the evening? What can I consider as applying towards my daily water goal, and what can I not?
This is just a legalistic tracking question. I want to insure that I get adequate hydration, and if any of these beverages don稚 hydrate adequately, I壇 like to cut back on them.
Thanks so much for your thoughts!
Peace,
Tom
