Went for my first ride of the season yesterday 4/20. Still ice base in the shady sections of the 'Rail Trail' that I frequent. In the winter months it is used heavily for snow machines so they pack in a substantial base. I only ventured about eight miles but enjoyed every foot of it.

I am happy with where I am.

emoticon I stored my mountain bike away in the barn for the winter a couple weeks ago. The average air temp dropped to where i was having to wear layers to keep warm and for me that took the enjoyment out of it. Now I have another reason to look forward to spring. In the mean time I will continue my struggle to maintain my weight using inside exercise. I don't do the gym routine I just work with my treadmill and an exercise bench at home. emoticon

You are a very fortunate man. A salute to your wife for her part in supporting you in your efforts. The credit that you give to her fore getting you started on a program and initiating the purchase of a key piece of equipment, gift or not, says volumes for her.
My wife does not share in my enthusiasm to achieve as healthy a physical container for my person as I do.
The space that my treadmill occupies was a real bone of contention for a while.
Please give your wife a special hug just for being the person that she is. emoticon

I don't have an exercise bike or the room for one right now. I guess when it snows I will just increase my treadmill time and look forward to spring.
You do bring up a good point that I will keep in mind. That was the logic I used when purchasing my treadmill, no mater the weather outside, I could still walk. emoticon

Did a 30 mile turn with my mountain bike on the rail trail yesterday. Feels great. I have a 40 mile turn planned for next week, weather provided.
I'm really not looking forward to the winter when I will have to store the bike away until spring.

Did a 32 mile turn on the rail trail this afternoon. Weather, temperature and humidity were great and made for a great ride. emoticon
32 miles on a predominantly level dirt trail may be that outstanding but at 4 months short of 70 I am pretty proud of it. emoticon
