I don't recall what my first week's weight loss was. But I know I was down 5.6 pounds after the first month. I do official weigh ins only once per month. That way I don't get mired down during the day to day grind and it allows me to see progress (if any) all at once, which is strong motivation. Likewise, if I gain a few pounds over a month, it's a stronger incentive to get back at it than if I gain only 1/2 a pound or so over the course of a week.

Well that is just what works for me...a mental thing of 'behaving' or making me think twice before eating/drinking something. For example Sunday evening we had some friends over for grilled chicken and shrimp--would have enjoyed a beer with the meal, but thought that was sort of sabotaging my first weigh-in.

I sure hope my weekly losses keep par with this first week. Sure there will be times when I gain a pound here and there, but just looking at the digital scale each week and snapping a picture will keep me going!

So that's what I have been doing wrong Lo! these past five years. I go in on Saturday.

Congrats! Now be happy if your long-term rate of decline is half that.

Congrats!!! 2.4 is a good week!!! Realistically, you probably will not average this amount of loss per-week over the span of reaching your goal. Which is good, consistently high loss is not necessarily the healthiest route. Be happy if you can maintain a loss of 1 lb. per week.

I also weigh-in on Monday for the same reason you give.

Keep up the good work!! You are off to a fine start!! emoticon

Well it isn't as much as I had hoped, but down 2.4 lbs in first week is a good start. Going to weigh-in every Monday morning. That helps me 'behave' on the weekend, knowing that a weigh-in is coming right after an opportunity to slack.
