My trainer recently suggested that there really is no good way of making the dreadmill, statuary bike, or illeptical machines un-boring that you break up your workout into 10-minute chunks: 10 on the dreadmill, 10 jumping rope or any other DIFFERENT cardio workout, and so on. And do that at least twice a week. She also suggested that getting out of the the damn gym or basement whenever possible for my cardio would be very beneficial.

I have the same problem with the elliptical machine but I agree with Transer, preplanned intervals will help it be not so monotonous. I also enjoy blasting music. emoticon

DVDs are the best...but I find doing intervals helps too. Better workout, and having to focus on time gives me something to think about.

DVD Player, music, motivational posters (change them every so often). I can't read on either.

We had a similar problem w/ our treadmill (except it was in the heated basement). We bought a simple portable DVD player and watched movies or TV episodes on it while exercising. That worked well until we got a TV downstairs and can now watch the DVR shows from the treadmill.

It only costs a nickel more to go first class.

I live Up Nort' here in Wisconsin. Walking is my favorite exercise. But some days in the winter up here it's not so much fun. So I got this stationary bike (actually a aero dyne) in my unheated garage that I ride. It bores me to death! Any ideas on how to make it less boring?
