If you do at home workouts and you arre close to a computer, SparkPeople has a site, somewhere, that has several differnt music genre's put together into 30 minute groups. Modern country, Alt. Rock, Classic Rock, Easy Listening, ETC, ETC, Etc. It's free to members. Just pick a genre' and click play.

On the road in the gym, I listen to Beatles, early Rolling Stones, Springsteen, Beach boys, etc.

+1 for the podcasts - if there is a topic you're interested in, there's likely several podcasts devoted to it. Makes the time fly.

However, if I want to pump myself up: its old time Limp Bizkit. I don't know what it is about that guy's music, but it gets my testosterone flowin and I just get filled with a sort of aggressive energy.

I'm prone to the 70's and 80's rock. (Love the hair bands) but enjoy all kinds of music from funk, rap, hip-hop to country, bluegrass and folk. I don't prescribe to any one genera. (basically if I like it I like it) As for a play list I'll have to check and get back to ya. I don't really have one. I have a GB of songs on an MP3 player and when I start getting tired of what's on there I will go back to the computer and start searching for more songs I like.

Also...
If you want a "free" program that can do pretty much anything the average user will want to do with audio it's hard to beat Audacity. Here's a link: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

I use a program on the computer and just take all my favorite songs and turn them into 125 beats per minute, that's my running pace. That's the only time I use music though, I don't ever lift weights. Just not my thing.

While I do use music for exercise, any 80's or dance compilation will do for me. I have found for endurance I use audiobooks and podcasts. There are many free ones on itunes and books on librivox.

4 Noble Truths

1. Suffering is a part of life
2. Suffering is caused by our attachments and avoidances.
3. Suffering can be ended.
4. Freedom from suffering is possible by following the Eightfold path.

Bigotry disguised as morality is still bigotry just as an outhouse with
marble columns is still an outhouse.

Hey, that sounds interesting. I will have to see if I can find it on Napster or ITunes. That is the best part of this thread. Music is so universal, and everyone has different tastes so it will be neat to look into different things. Sort of break the routine.

I don't think I will be of much help. For the last decade I have been using the same CD (No, I do not get bored) from a Brazilian Musician called Lulu Santos. The Cd is great and really upbeat....

I have many different ways of putting together a workout playlist, but my favorite is doing it like they do for sports movies. With that in mind...

Workout 1
*Gonna Fly Now (Theme From Rocky) - Bill Conti
*Go Speed Racer Go (Film Version) - Ali Dee & the
Deekompressors
*You're The Best - Joe Esposito (yeah, Karate Kid!!)
*Go! - Tones On Tail (this is the kick my ass song)
*America, F**k Yeah - Team America soundtrack
*Heart's On Fire - John Cafferty (Rocky in the snow)
*Montage - Team America soundtrack
*No Easy Way Out - Robert Tepper (another Rocky song)
*Barracuda - Heart
*Eye Of The Tiger - Survivor (just buy the Rocky
Balboa Soundtrack, 'kay?)
*Holding Out For A Hero - Bonnie Tyler

Workout II
*Danger Zone (Theme From Top Gun) - Kenny Loggins
*Working For The Weekend - Loverboy
*I'm Free (Heaven Helps The Man) - Kenny Loggins
(from Footloose)
*Dance Your Ass Off - RTZ (early 90's techno)
*Let Your Body Learn - Nitzer Ebb (another beat
pounder)
*Going The Distance - Bill Conti (Rocky vs Mr T)
*Common People - William Shatner (!!)
*I'm Not Okay (I Promise) - My Chemical Romance
*Hot For Teacher - Van Halen
*Back In Black - AC/DC (yeah, a workout must)
*Techno Syndrome - The Immortals (Mortal Kombat theme
song...just yell "MORTAL KOMBAT" and you'll know it)
*Bang On! - The Propellerheads
*Chick Habit - April March (closing credit song from
Tarantino's 'Death Proof')

That first one is impossible NOT to feel like you have to kick it up a notch while listening to it (that is if you can't stop laughing at how cheesy it is).
