First of all, I read your entry, and loved reading it. You did a great job answering it.

As mentioned, first a bit of background, I am not as mean as I appear... emoticon

I like the sandwich technique, so now that I have been 'polite', here comes the emoticon question.

I forgot one more question so I'll address it now. The advice I would give someone new to this sight is to take it slow. You don't have to loose all of your weight in a short amount of time. It puts too much pressure and too many unrealistic goals to try to meet. Think healthy instead of diet and things move much more smoothly.
Don't stop! We all have bad days but don't let that grow into bad weeks, months and years!!!

OK, here goes: I found Sparkpeople simply by accident. I was just looking at some weight loss sights and found it. I have been hooked ever since! Not always dedicated as I should be but hooked none the less. I chose my ID name from my favorite singer, Jackson Browne's awesome song, The Pretender. It has personal meaning for me. The 73 is the year I graduated from high school. I live in Bedford, Ky with my husband, our 4 dogs, 2 cats and pet cow, Mikey. Bedford is off of I-71 about half way between Louisville and Cincinnati. My favorite meal of the day is dinner. I love to cook and I especially love to fix dinner for my husband and I. My favorite home cooked meal would have to be meat loaf and mashed potatoes. It's that southern comfort food I guess :) My motivation comes from wanting to wear clothes that are not always black and to wear clothes without an 'X' on the tag. I just found out today actually that I have extremely high blood sugar and moderately high blood pressure so that was a real reality check. I must change-no other options. I am currently seeing a counselor who is helping me deal with a mentally ill brother and she is helping me begin to love myself again. I had forgotten to do this because I had become so wrapped up with dealing with elderly parents and my brother. As women we tend to take care of everyone but ourselves. She has suggested that I do something nice for myself, just like I would do for someone else. When I say something negative about myself (I do that a lot) I am to immediately combat that with 3 good qualities that I possess. Its my way of learning to take care of myself for once. I had no challenges with retirement as I was really tired of my job and all of the baggage I carried home with it. I did have a bit of a struggle adjusting to having all day with no schedule. It didn't take long to get over that though!! Redecorating my log home is keeping my very busy along with new church duties. As for the mindless munching-I don't know. I am a night time eater and it is the hardest thing to break ever! It's my downfall!! If you find a solution let me know :) Since I have so many dogs it is easy to get in my 10 minutes a day either walking them or cleaning up after them, if you know what I mean!! We live in the country so we go on walks in the woods or play in the yard. The rainy weather has put a damper on that lately though. I also walk by myself up and down our road or at the local cemetery-no one to talk to there!! lol
Well, I think that addresses all of your questions. I'm gonna double check to make sure.

Thanks for all of the great questions and please forgive me for not getting to them sooner. My computer got a virus and I could not even get online at all till it was fixed. I felt like I had lost my left arm while it was gone. Anyway, it is fixed and I'll answer your questions now. Better late than never right!!

Every evening I ask the creator to help me stay strong for my goals..Getting to move is my biggest challenge. One week I am good, next week not so so. How do you keep it going. emoticon
