Sorry for not responding sooner, but as you know from my status I was on vacation last week. But How Exciting - I'm on the PODIUM!!! And in response to all your questions...

How did you find SparkPeople? How did you choose your SparkPeople ID?

I actually found SP through my work. We were having a "Biggest Loser" contest, and SP was one of the sites that was offered as a go to place to help with weight loss. My SP ID is a combination of trying to describe my personality and a food item that was used as a code name so our fellow co-workers didn't know who we were.

What are your weight loss goals?

My weight loss goal is to loose at least 50 pounds. I am 52 years young, my oldest son just got engaged and I want to be able to chase my grandchildren around in the yard.

What was your breaking moment, that made you say, you have to loose weight or else?

My breaking moment was when my younger sister had a massive stroke at 49 - six months after my mother passed away. I knew I was heading down the same road with my high blood pressure and lack of exercise that I had to get serious about being healthy, or I wasn't going to be here much longer.

With regard to reading the SPARK, I have to be honest and say that I have not been so diligent with that, finding the time has been very difficult lately and after my first breeze through, it has become a paper weight next to my bedside table. My goal for August is to dust it off and start again...

My "non-health" motivators are my children. I have three beautiful kids (33, 19 & 10) 2 boys and 1 girl. I want to be around to experience all of the moments in their lives.

I love to travel and wish I had the dinero to do more, I have been to Canada, Guatemala, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia and most recently Sandusky, OH (Cedar Point Amusement Park - one of the worlds BEST ROLLER COASTER EMPORIUM!!!). My heart goes out to Guatemala though - Country of eternal spring. The mountain views are spectacularly breath-taking!! And the people are wonderful.

I have to say that the best tip for exercise to anyone is to quote an old cliche is "JUST DO IT". Find something you like and work it into your normal routine. I try to work at least 10,000 steps into my day. I actually made it to 19,000+ while on vacation this past week. I walk/jog at least 30 - 45 minutes at lunch 3 - 4 times a week, and lately have been motivating myself to do it on the week ends. I figured out a long time ago that I really hate the gym, but I do enjoy walking, jogging and ZUMBA, so these are the things that I do. Next is to figure out how to work in the strength training...

Nanner2121 - your real question should be What isn't my favorite food!!! emoticon My go to meal - hmmmm - salad - when in doubt - veg it out!!!

Hi, welcome to the podium. Love your page. You seem to have great insight. I am sorry for the losses in your life but am impressed that you are able to see that you can change your potential future through health and fitness.
