Hi Becca, welcome to SP and this board. I used to have Dept 82 also. Boy was I glad when they did away with a majority of clip strips! :)
Currently, I am an Asset Protection Coordinator, but am looking to transfer and promote to an Assistant Manager in the next couple of months.
Good luck in your quest to a healthier you!!

Welcome to SP and our Group Becca. I am looking forward to getting to know you.

This has been a long struggle, where I did real well the first couple of years and then slowly ended up gaining most of the weight back.

Kimmie,
we used to work 6 to 3 and most of us department managers really liked that shift. It seems we got more done in the early morning plus it gave us some time with our overnight stockers. Now they changed us to the home office schedule of 7 - 4.

I want to wish everybody who reads our messages here a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Thanks for the Welcome. Nope, I have worked in the Insurance department, replenishment, buyer's assistant, international division and people division. I have only been at the call center for 6 months. I really like it though. It's not as bad as you would think. Most customer's calm down pretty easily once you share empathy with them.

Yes the Christmas season is tough, but we can get through it together! We're all here to get healthy and we can do it! Thanks for having me! :)

Welcome to our group Jana.

Have you always worked at the call center? I can imagine that that is a pretty stressful job.

I love Sparkpeople and hope to lose more weight in the coming year. I struggled with my health this past year and mainly kept my weight, which is not bad. The Christmas season is going to be so challenging to me that I will have a hard time sticking to sensible eating. I love sweets and really have a hard time rationing them.

Take care,
Sabine

Welcome to our group and SP. There are quite a few people who do WW and SP. Congratulations to your 25 lb loss. No matter what program you use, it is hard.

I've been with Walmart for 12 years now and am a department manager.

Hi all! My name is Crystal and I have worked for Walmart for 5 years now. Currently I am an APC, though I have worked in virtually every area of the store. I am excited to get started on SP. I have done WW for 4 months now and have lost about 25 lbs. I decided to leave WW for now and hope to get to my goal by myself, though if I find myself getting off track, it's back to the meetings I go!

Kimmie,
I am glad to hear that the surgery went fine and that the hospital stay is pleasant for your son.

Don't worry about food and working out, your son is more important. You can always catch up lateron.

Take care,

Kimmie,
thank you. Our granddaughter is doing better.
She has been released from the hospital this afternoon.

I was glad to be of help to you. Hopefully, your daughter lent you the laptop. She can use yours in the meantime, can't she?

Wishing you all the best. Take care,

Kimmie,
I just got home and read your e-mail. I don't know when you will get to read this.

In order to stop all those notifications from the teams you joined you do the following:

Click on "My Spark Teams" under "Quick Links" on the right hand side of any SP page. All your teams will show up and then you can choose which notification you want to unclick. The good thing about this is that you can do this all on one page and don't have to goto the individual groups.

We spent all morning with our military group, got our flu shots and spent the afternoon in the hospital with our granddaughter. She was admitted this morning because she had a reaction to antibiotics. They will keep her overnight. She is only 4 years old.

I am going to bed now. I have been up since 5 and arthritis in my hands is acting up again. It hurts to type.

Sabine

Sabine, thank you for all your help. But that's not the mail I want stop. You know when you post a message on a message board and you click on "I want an email to be sent to me when anyone replies to this topic" and when you join a team board you check to receive mail when a new member joins.....that is the mail I want on to stop because it is way to much.

I already have plans to pack some raw fruits and vegys because the first 2 days I probley wont leave his side. But hoping they have a microwave on the floor some where so I can have my hot oatmeal in the morning. wont have to go far. Hoping for a coffee machine or something close So I don't have to go to the cafataria just for a cup of coffee.... Have to have at least one in the morning then I am fine... If not then I will get a headache until I get my cup of coffee.... that is the only caffeine I have all day I don't drink soda at all I will drink water the rest of the day. I did get those little things to put flavor in your water. Found out he will be on the 10th floor. Still couldn't give me a time so my hubby would be here on time this time. Well thank you again.

Kimmie,
don't worry about gaining weight. You have the right mindset. Just try to stay away from the bad stuff as much as possible. Bring some raw veggies and fruit with you if they don't sell it in the cafeteria at the hospital.

If you are talking about stopping your mail from SP, just click on "My Tools", "Start" and then you will see a link for e-mail preferences on the left top corner. To stop mail from your various teams, click on "My Spark Teams" under "Quick Links" on the right hand side of any SP page and you can unclick your notifications there.

I hope this helped.

Thank you. Now I have to figure out how to get my mail stopped from sending to my email address just for the week while I am at the hospital or I will be coming home to way to much to keep up unless my daughter lets me borrow her lap top. Me and troy talked about me going and exersizing like taking the stairs or just walking around the ward and he's great about everything. I am a little worried about gaining the weight I just lost but don't care if I really do because he is more important right now and I will loose it eventually. We started packing for this. We have been calling it our vacation time away from the to big mean brothers and daddy and its just mommie and Troy time. He's so sweet and he's just 8 years old. He is dealing with this so great.

Thank you again.

Thank you. He is a little nervous and scared but not that much. He knows I will be right by his side. Him and I was going through pictures and came across the pictures of him when he was first born and when he was in the hopital had his colstomy pouch. Seeing those pictures made him a little bit more at ease. He is excited that he's finally getting this surgery done. thank you again.

We are also using the Waco boxes, but I don't. I have some flex and use it when I have to. I try to avoid putting overstock in the flex though and that seems to be a constant battle with my fill-in overnight stocker. The automatic picklist hasn't worked that well for me yet either. It seems that the heavy items don't get picked for some reason, especially when they are in the bottom of the stack.

I don't have access to the Telxon as much as I would like. I am in the group that gets it after lunch and there never is enough time to do it all, especially since we have to spend that hour with "all hands on deck."

I hope your son will be alright and heal up fast. Try to take some healthy snacks with you, so you won't be tempted by the machines.

I will have my knee replaced and I know I will not have enough sick hours and vacation hours for the duration of my leave of absence. My main concern is that I will be able to walk normal and without pain again. I am not shopping much now and concentrate on putting money away for a nestegg (or should I say security blanket?) and paying down our debts.

Sabine,
thank you. You will hear allot from me. yea the only time can go overnight also is when we have big changes and all my hats and gloves so allot of tearing down shelves and finding lots of pegs and moving and boxing up all the clearance. I rather go overnights so I can't be pulled all over the place and I can focus on my mods only.

Did your store switch to the wayco boxes in the back room....I like it but their a few things I would change about them right now.......... I would make the boxes with tops to close because anything could fall out and if they do then anyone can pick it up and put it in any box instead of putting it in the one it came out of. ....I love the automatic picks.

My son is getting surgery on the Oct. 20th so I took a week and half off for him. I won't be able to exercise much worried about my eating habits too.
He will be in children's hospital for 5 days. I will be staying with him too.

I have to get surgery too but I am looking into next summer to get mine done. saving all my sick time for it. will be out for at least 6 weeks. I can still exercise but can't lift heavy things.

Kimmie,
welcome to our group. I am looking forward to hear from you more in the future.

First of all I want to congratulate on your weight loss so far. You are doing great.

I am a department manager in furniture and I like what I am doing a lot. I've been with Walmart for 12 years now. Good luck with your mods. Most of the time we don't get to go in to do our mods overnight anymore, unless they are really big. We just got done with the Homerun mod a few weeks ago. That was mostly Domestics but Housewares and Furniture had a few also.

I am not into exercising much this year due to health issues that I am having. Working at Walmart seems to zap all of my energy at the moment. I have been holding my weight steadily (most of the time) this year and it works for me. I have high hopes that I will be doing better after my next surgery next year.

Hoping that all of you are having a great weekend,
Sabine

Hi! I am glad there is a team for wail-mart. I was just looking around on the site and found it. I work at #2287 in New Castle PA. I am a dept. manager of Lingerie. I love it. It is so challenging. I have been with walmart for 7 yrs. I am going on overnights next week for mods. I go to the YMCA after work 3 days a week and work on the treadmill and the cycle. I have a elliptic rider I use at home. My PSP is to loose 100 lbs. well I am at 19 lbs.

well got to run.

A lot of people walk the parking lot to get outside but when the weather turns it's gets quite busy in there. We're also allowed to use it off the clock which is nice.

I did 20 mintues on the treadmill today!

Hello! My name is Karla I work in the grocery distribution center in New York. I've been there for 8 1/2 years working in the Systems Dept. I try to get out into the warehouse as much as I can to move around but it doesn't happen very enough. I started wearing a pedometer so I know when I need to get my butt out of my chair. Our GM just installed a fitness room for us. It's pretty nice. It has 2 bikes, 3 treadmills, and 2 ellipticals. It's my understanding that we are the only DC with a fitness room. So I shouldn't have any excuses why I can't move around more at work.
I'm glad I found this group.

You feel about your hearing aid like I feel about my arthritis. I had one knee replaced and now need the other knee replaced. I also have arthritis in my hands and arms (I think it is RA that I tested positive for). My mom had it but she was at least 25 years older than I by that time.

The young man I have working for me is in his 20s and he has two hearing aids. I have to remember to look into his face when I talk to him. He has difficulty hering the overhead announcements. Again, we are trying to help him out and let him know when he misses something.

I try very hard to treat my co-workers the way I want to be treated. I have had some doozies for supervisors before and I don't ever want to treat my people like that. Even the healthiest person needs some extra help or understanding at times. We are still human beings and no machines.

We should probably move our conversation to the General Discussion since we are not talking about introductions anymore. emoticon

I'd better go to bed now because it won't be long before the alarm goes off again.

This has been a long struggle, where I did real well the first couple of years and then slowly ended up gaining most of the weight back.

Jinxmom,
our morale is down too. It realy got bad when they messed with people's schedule. It also seems that you are constantly looking over your shoulder. We shouldn't have to worry because of medical conditions.

I see mine as temporary because they can be taken care of with surgery and specialized treatment in most cases. It is just too bad that, at least in my case, you have to wait so darn long to see the specialist. Will I be able to hold on to my job until I get the treatment I need? I am a department manager and my co-workers are helping me out with things taht are too difficult for me to do. I try to help them out in other ways.

I would love to be happy at my job again because I like what I am doing.

This has been a long struggle, where I did real well the first couple of years and then slowly ended up gaining most of the weight back.

BIENKE,
I can relate to what you are saying, I told the kid I can not use a ladder the other day, been having balance problems due to an ear problem, of course she said be sure to get a doctors note, no problem there.... will pass on to my assist manager on Friday when I get one...next apt is than.... I got this feeling she will want to see it, NOT happening my medical info is NOT her buisness, LOL... I had to laugh when I was thinking about the "Wal*Mart smile" our new manager, came in June, and never smiles at anyone....but than again, moral is so low... a happy group has gone to the saddest looking group.....

JINXMOM,
I would have been very upset if I had been you. When management offered you ladieswear, didn't you mention that your heart was set on groceries? That should have cleared up the mistake right away. I hope you have better luck in your next store.

I am a little upset at work too. I need to talk to my store manager to clear up a few things and see what would be the best thing for me in the future. My arthritis is really giving me a hard time at the moment and some management is getting impatient. I can't have my operation until next spring and I am afraid they are not willing to wait for me to get better.

Welcome Jen to SP and our group. There is a lot of information on changing your life style on SP and we are here for moral support.

My advice is to make gradual changes and use the food tracker every day. You'll be amazed how the calories add up, especially when you "think" you haven't eaten much. That has helped me the most. I find when I don't use the tracker, I definitely eat too much.

Hey all,
My name is Jen, I've been with wal-mart just over a year and a half. I spent the first 15 months working overnights stocking in HBA, and have spent the last 3 months working overnight in the cash offices. While I love my new job, going from walking 12 miles a night on the floor to under 1 has got the pounds creeping up pretty fast! So here I am to make some major changes and get back to the fit lifestyle I had in college! :)

Welcome to our group Nan and Desirae.

Nan, you sure are busy at Walmart and at home. I think the volunteer work you are doing with Jinx is fabulous. Most of the people that I knew who worked for store planning and remodeling liked it. I prefer to have a "home" and stay there.

Desirae, I know you do a lot of walking, but my doctor told me that the walking at work doesn't count because our body is used to it and it doesn't raise our heartbeat. I guess that's why you are supposed to alternate your exercises too. I am not a good example at the moment because I barely exercise due to problems with arthritis. I know it is not an excuse, but when I hurt, I don't even start.

I've been with Walmart for 12 years and am a department manager in furniture. I enjoy my job most of the time.

Sometimes, I would find a co-worker who would join me on a walk during the second half of our lunch break. Ask around, you may be surprised who is willing to join you.

My husband does not like to walk with me either but it is because I walk faster than he does and i leave him behind. He does not walk anymore either. I wish he would. I would love it if he would walk with me.

Good for you.

My hubby is not very supportive. I have asked him so many times to go for a walk with me. He should because he is diabetic and it would help lower his count, but he prefers the couch. I don't like to walk by myself, some people with their big dogs scare me. Since I am suffering a lot from arthritis since last fall, I would feel more secure to have somone walk with me since my knee does not always want to support me.

This has been a long struggle, where I did real well the first couple of years and then slowly ended up gaining most of the weight back.

That might work. I would delegate except for the fact that I live alone, so there is no one to delegate to. emoticon

I feel the same way but sometimes I manage to force myself to do the right thing. A short nap really helps to refresh you.

Personally, I feel that we should never be this tired from work that we are no good to anybody once we make it home. I have a lot of co-workers that take short naps in order to survive their household/family chores.

This has been a long struggle, where I did real well the first couple of years and then slowly ended up gaining most of the weight back.

My feet are usually swollen.
Because of arthritis in my hands I can't put on my support stockings in the morning. By the time my shift is over it feels like I am walking barefoot on rocks.

I try to lie down for at least 30 minutes with my legs elevated right after I come home from work. That helps a lot and I get a few things done.

This has been a long struggle, where I did real well the first couple of years and then slowly ended up gaining most of the weight back.

My problem is not so much that I'm tired...its that my feet hurt and I don't want to be on them much more than I have to.

Welcome Aimee!

You've done quite well already. Keep it up!

What gets me is that we walk so much working for Walmart and most doctors say that we can't cunt that as exercise because our body gets used to the routine and it doesn't bring up our heart rate. After an 8-hour shift I am too tired to go for another long fast walk.

This has been a long struggle, where I did real well the first couple of years and then slowly ended up gaining most of the weight back.

Tina, welcome to our group. I am a 12-year associate and am a department manager in furniture. We are a 209,000 sq ft SC.

I have always been heavy and the baby weight did not make any difference to me. Ha ha. It took playing with my granddaughter that finally opened my eyes and made me want to lose. You've been doing great so far. Keep on doing what you are doing because it works.

Our PSP kind of went to the sidelines. At first we did a lot of things and then it went POOF, if you know what I mean.

Hope to hear from you more often,
Sabine

Hello All!
My name is Brandy and I work at Walmart Home Office. I have been with Walmart for 5 years now. I have decided it is time to get motivated and really start losing some weight. I have 2 beautiful daughters that have fallen into their mommys eating habits so I really need to do something now and get us back on the right track to being healthy eaters.

Welcome to our group Shari and Spookykitty,
I will have my 12th anniversary in a month. Time flies when you are having fun.

Shari, you sure went through a lot with your health. I am dealing with arthritis at the moment and it gets harder and harder to do what I need to do. I worked so much freight today that my hands are still hurting, even while I type. I'm a department manager in furniture. I used to work in softlines for a while and hanging those clothes is not easy either. I remember getting sore arms from that too.

I have never worked in Electronics but it is my neighboring department and I know those folks over there are always busy.

Hi! My name is Shari, and August 3rd will be my 16th year with Walmart. When I started, our store was a just a regular Walmart. I was a cashier, then briefly worked in cosmetics before going to HBA for about 7 years. I did about 2 years on ICS before moving to softlines, which I think is the best fit for me. Our store went to a Supercenter about 6 years ago.

I no longer do any cashiering; when I had breast cancer in 2003, they took lymph nodes out on my right side. I developed a mild lymphedema in that arm, so I had to have the doctor fill out paperwork to keep me off registers. It's the repititious motion that I can't do. I have to be careful with heavy lifting also, but I don't have to do much of that in softlines. I can lift a few heavy boxes here and there, I'm just not supposed to spend hours at a time doing it.

My cancer returned to my bones in April 2007, I had to take time off again, about 10 weeks, for radiation and healing. But I am doing great now. I am working full time, and my cancer is stabilized. I get treatment once per month, and although I don't feel good those two days out to the month, it's not anything that makes me lose my hair like the chemo did back in 2008.

I have Tuesday's and Wednesday's off, those are my unavailable days because my doctor is only in town on Tuesdays, and I'm in there twice per month; one week to get my blood work taken through my port, and the next week is my appointment and treatment. I also try to make any other appointments or tests I may need on those two days. Plus, that way I am not working more than 5 days in a row.

Up til about 3 weeks ago, I was working mostly 2nd shift, mostly 2-10's; but with the new way they are staffing and scheduling softlines, I am getting some day and mid shifts too. I had my routine down for my fitness and meals when I had the more regular hours, but now I am finding a challenge some days with the flucuating hours fitting that all in and getting enough sleep too.

Anyway, I'm glad to have found you all and look forward to trading "war stories" with you! I was searching for a team for retail workers when I found this one.

My name is Shari; I have been a Sparker since July 2006, I am now in hospice care for metastatic breast cancer, but I'm not letting cancer stop me from Sparking!

Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.

A. A. Milne

Hi ^^

I've been with walmart for 3 years. Been very strange and i wish i would have gone to claims. I work in electronics (hell) and a nasty department manager who is trying to destroy my reputation as a good worker which makes all management who dont know me look at me nasty! Yay! *sigh* I hate it when they change department managers. Otherwise its been wierd and changes every year. Very few people of the same people still work there from when i started. Unless they've been around for 5 years or so

MABUCKY, welcome to our group. I am glad that you found us. It's been a little quiet around here. I guess we all are pretty busy at the moment.

It is hard to stay on a healthy diet with our crazy schedules. I am a firm believer in bringing my own lunches. It helps me with the portion control.

Let us know if you have any questions.

This has been a long struggle, where I did real well the first couple of years and then slowly ended up gaining most of the weight back.

Hi Wally world associates.
I have been an associate for Wal~ Mart for 13 years I was hired to work in the snack bar then I became a Department manager of snack bar. Our store is not a super center so when they wanted to add photo center they took out our snack bar. Since then I have been cashiering and covering several other departments. Right now I am working in Lawn and garden.

Nice to see other WM associates here on this site With the changing schedules. I find it hard to join other weight loss programs around here I end up not being able to go to meetings .

Welcome to our group Karen. I also want to congratulate you on your upcoming anniversary with Wal-Mart.

I will be having my 12th anniversary in August. I am the department manager in furniture and enjoy my job most of the time except now because next week is our inventory and the stress is high. I think we are looking good though.

This has been a long struggle, where I did real well the first couple of years and then slowly ended up gaining most of the weight back.
