So good to hear from you again JINXMOM. I have bee n absent for a while here too.

So, did you move into a new house closer to your new store or are you still commuting 45 plus miles? What are you doing now? I for got which dept you had before. I lost the furniture dept but got Sporting goods a few weeks ago after they decided to separate it from toys. Too much high traffic in both areas in our store.

I wish everybody a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.

This has been a long struggle, where I did real well the first couple of years and then slowly ended up gaining most of the weight back.

LONG time no type....
Well I wound up staying with the "new" store, 2 weeks after grand opening, HAD to go back to my home store, the last week of that job, I was in my new house, NOT CT or PA, we stayed in NJ, My dear husband's job decided against the transfer they were going to do.... finalytook until 2 weeks ago my transfer went through, no longer a dept manager, the remapping of stores left my niche gone... but so much more relaxed without the hgeadaches that go with that position anyway.... so happy doing good, now back to getting this body in shape, wound up so down and stressed, had an hour plus drive before things settled.... plus just not knowing....my fasting BS is up, weight is up... well now to get that back on track....

I can understand your frustration. The kid will have to learn to be responsible for his actions and not hide behind mom's skirt.

well have not been on since starting that opening store job, turns out it is NOT opening for a while, so the tore is getting fixtures and labels set at this point, no product yet no CUSStemers yet, so FUN job!!! although rather than com out ahead, until all is said and done, Monday hopefully, I am far behind, turns out was leaving after the second day working at that store, and some STUPID new hire was so thrilled at getting a job, he FLEW through a stop sign, and hit my jeep, not too bad on damage, nobody hurt, lost 2 days while his insurance Co. got me a rental, out pay, told him he owes me that, or he can pay a lawyer he will be contacted by, I mean not meaning to be nasty, but I could have gone after "pain and suffering" but all I want is what his actions cost me.... his insurance is picking up 100% OTHER than lost pay and travel voucher, I did add the mileage my husband drove to pick my co-worker and myself up... 100 miles round trip at 55 cents a mile.... UGH I was back to work on Friday, and this kid said I was flying down the road, that he stopped at the stop sign... and I came barreling at him.... a friend than asked him to explain why he was walking around saying it is all my fault...I ran the stop sign....AND why did he get a careless driving ticket..... my pay will have NO overtime as we do over 40 not over 8 for OT....all in all the kid owes me over 400 dollars....I am mean in one way, I will not speak to his mom again, he asked me to after he hit me, but when it comes to the cash he owes, I told him no time to man up talk to them yourself, I will but each contact will up the cash owed.... and if I need to hire a lawyer, it will cost him far more..... yeah I am a beetch

Jinx, congratulations on the bonus.

We have to check our work schedule every week. Last week 37 hrs, this week 40 hrs, usually 39 unless they decide to cut. When rthey have to tighten their budget, why do they always hit the small "man"? Did you ever hear about executives cutting part of their bonuses? emoticon
I know I'm stirring up trouble here. lol emoticon

We have self check out counters too. They are nice but there is also a lot of theft going on there. Those cashiers we have overlooking them are doing a great job though.

Yes...we are almost done with our remodel here in Manitowoc WI. Tomorrow is the " Grand Reopening " even though we are a 24 hour store. :)

We have self check outs now. That is really new for us. Everything is in a different place...or nearly everything. Even the grocery aisles moved the merchandise to other aisles. It is confusing yet it is nicer than before.
We got new everything! New checkouts, bathrooms, floors, fitting rooms and even a redone bakery area.
Lots of changes but I like changes. Most customers have been complaining. Nothing new there.... emoticon

I went through 2 remodels also. The first one was a conversion from Division 1 to Super Center and we more than doubled our store. It was winter and on 2 sides our walls were plastic sheets with sidecounters placed right in front of them.

Then we had a remodel about 4 years ago and will have another one in a couple of years.

This has been a long struggle, where I did real well the first couple of years and then slowly ended up gaining most of the weight back.

Wow - 2 remodels! In how many years? My store is only 6 years old so I'm surprised that they are remodelling already but I guess they want to compete with the brand new Target opening up next door. :-(

I'm actually pretty excited about the remodel. I only work part time so every time I work, there will be something new and I'll have to figure out where they moved my stuff - again.

Don't pet the sweaty stuff and don't sweat the petty stuff. :-)

A nearby store is going thru remodel now and several assosiates from our store are there to help...they say its a complete mess. Good luck to you and your store, hope all goes well :-)

Hi, have any of you gone through a complete store remodel? We are just starting and I think it is going to be 3 months of chaos.

Don't pet the sweaty stuff and don't sweat the petty stuff. :-)
