I'm just getting here. I joined a while ago, but the summer schedule and the heat have kept me off track. Now that Fall is coming it's time to get back!

I'm the wife of an associate that's been at WalMart over a year, and the Mother of one that started about 4 months ago. Two different stores, two different jobs, two different sets of hours. Life gets too confusing!

Love my COLT2008 & my PAPAJER!!!

emoticon Do you know we are now ranked emoticon (second) in Spark America Fortune 100 Company's out of 7 teams. We used to be 3rd. If a team doesn't have activity in 60 days it is no more, that is why we are trying to rekindle the team spark. When I first joined this team in May most of the posts were from 2009 yet there were a couple that were updated.

Have a good evening!

I haven't been feeling the greatest due to allergies and sinus troubles, unable to go outside without intense sinus pressure and a lot of sneezing. Hoping that by staying indoors today I'll be feeling better tomorrow because Friday sure was a rough day at work and though I made it through my whole shift it definitely wasn't easy. I used up a whole bottle of GermX during the day, I used after each time I sneezed or had to wipe my nose (I don't even know how many papertowels I used for that).

Well time for some indoor workkouts...

Hi Deb
Just wanted you to know you are not alone. Most of us walmart folks are trying to relax. I check out the sight a lot less now simply because I'm trying to get outside more. But whenever I can I check on my walmart team to see whats going on and to update a few things. I work overnights so checking in is sporadic for me.

Crazy day at work... I started at 930 this am and was the 6th cashier, usually by then I'd be the 8th or 9th. No one else came in till 11. We also only had 1 CSM today from 5am till 2.... needless to say mgt was up front a lot helping out the front end. (I wonder how they feel about their decision to cut 1000 hours of labor a month now)

My favorite thing about days like today..........went by SO crazy fast I couldn't believe it.

My after work errand was a bust as the county hadn't received all the required paperwork yet.

Had a nice dinner of broiled steak, corn and buttered noodles, watching Megamind to ease my brain.

Another fast paced days at work, I really hate that I'm scheduled 5.5 hours and the minute before I am scheduled to leave the register says I'm approaching lockout. It will do it three times before locking you out and IF you do get locked out then the cashier and CSM get called into the office. BUT there is no thank you for staying to take care of the customers and it shouldn't be approaching lock out till hour 6. I have never worked someplace where employee breaks and daily meeting take priority over customers before and it is really sad because most of the customers that live in our local area only come for quick errands, they do most of their weekly shopping at other area Walmarts.

emoticon We are back and recuperated from some very fun times! There was maybe 5 rows of parking filled both days at Six Flags, meaning very short wait times on most rides both days and we got a lot of rides in. The kids did rides they probably wouldn't have if the lines were longer (ie Batman and Superman) as it was their first time being able to go on those rides so they were a bit scared.

I hope everyone is surviving the storms. They sure aren't letting up any time soon.

Hi everyone!

We're expecting a cold front and severe storms again, I pray that there will be miminal damage as everyone seems to be close to finishing up the clean up from previous storms that have passed through. God has seen us through some pretty tough ones and we have had only plant damage thus far.

Tomorrow we head out to Six Flags in Gurnee and will gone for a couple of days. Its a late double digit celebration for our DS and a test to see how my DH does. We'd like to go to Disney World when our oldest's band goes next spring but not sure if it'd be too much for him or not. We will have his wheel chair and walker with us, he has been using his cane....but the more he looks around when walking the more off balance he gets, and the more people that are around just throws him off balance even more. My brother and his family are going along too so my DS will have kids closer to his age to go on rides with.

emoticon both my DS are promoted into the next grades (not that there was any doubts). My oldest will be a senior and my youngest a 5th grader (he was more excited by the statement saying he will be in grade 5 on his report card than the fact he went up to grade levels in his reading).

Have a good day!

Not sure how to describe this weekend other than hard. As we have emotions pulling us in different directions.

* Last night was graduation and though my son has another year most of his friends graduated. My DH was confused as to why I was going and told him if the kids asked me in January to be there.... they want me to be there so I will be. I was am so proud of them.

* A year ago today one of our family friends died in a tractor accident, his DW, DD, and my brother and his family all witnessed it as it was on my brothers land. Tomorrow in my brother's 12 wedding anniversary. Please keep the family of our friend and my brother's family in prayers as they are struggling. My bro and his DW went to a B&B last night then were going to spend today doing whatever took to their liking. I pray they are able to enjoy themselves and focus on the happier memories they have with our friend not just that last day.

* The fun is we have my bro's 2 boys this weekend and they are having a blast playing with my youngest DS. They are excited for our plans to bake chocolate chip cookies to take home for mom and dad tomorrow and the fact their big sister (who is the same age as my DS) isn't here to mother them.

Do you have a goal set for how many steps you plan on taking each day and a plan to reach your goal?

Its a emoticon emoticon day and as per tradition I am heading to work on this Memorial Day, though this is the first time in years that I will miss the Memorial Day Parade. emoticon

I will be dropping my DH and youngest DS off ay the park to view the parade and ceremony on my way to work, my oldest DS will pick them up after he is done marching and performing in the ceremony afterwards.

Have a good day.

Its a cloudy rainy day, but I had a lot of fun at a baby shower for my niece and did a lot of laughing. Laughter is so contagious some joined in without even knowing what we were laughing about.

Have a good one!

emoticon I just started at Walmart as a temporary cashier 5 weeks ago, I guess I'll find out in another 7 weeks or so if they offer me a permanent position. Having management positions elsewhere I kringe at out my training went (CBL's then 45 minutes with a sponsor then off on my own) and how much is assumed everyone knows what is going on vs actual knowledge.

Take CMN for example, I am to ask all customers if they would like me to round up their total and the change go towards CMN. Now I have not been explained what CMN is or how it helps kids in our town since the nearest Children's Hospital is 52 miles away nor is their any information to hand to the customers. When I asked I was told our customers know all about CMN, well I have been a Walmart customer for a good portion of my life and I don't know, I've heard about it before.

Ladies, I kind of know what you are going through. I had lost over 60 pounds and my scale is going in the wrong direction slowly but surely. I still try to watch the caloric intake but am not as strict with myself as I used to be. Here is my story:

I've been diagnosed with osteo arthritis in both knees two years ago and have had them both replaced. One in Feb 08 and the other one in May this year. Now I also have osteo (degenerative) arthritis in my right ankle. I thought it was hurting because I kept standing on my right leg to relieve the pain and pressure on my left knee. Being on your feet for 8 hours and on the concrete floor to top it of is not helping it, but I don't have to tell you that.

I have also been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in my hands and arms. That doesn't help when you have to stock and work with the fasttrack that keeps aggravating it. Any pressure will do it. The medication I am taking is lowering my immunity to keep the RA from attacking my body and I'm also on Prednisone which is a steroid to keep down the swelling. All three of these meds is keeping me from losing weight and Prednisone is known to put weight on you. I need the medication so that I can perform simple daily tasks. You can forget exercising because at the moment it is too painful. I feel my exercising is my work and that is enough. People with my desease are also supposed to take many breaks and rest - try to tell that to management.

A little over 2 years ago, I did not know I had arthritis. That was something that old, old people get, or at least that's what I thought. Anyway, I am trying hard not to totally undo all the work I have done before to lose that weight. I had promised myself to never wear plus size clothes again! Since I don't want to run around naked, I am keeping track of what I am eating BUT it is awful hard to stay motivated when everything seems to work against you.

Hang in there ladies, try to do it in small steps and eventually we will win. Don't let the fat rule over you.

.... and now I will get off of my soap box.... take care,

This has been a long struggle, where I did real well the first couple of years and then slowly ended up gaining most of the weight back.

I'm still here - kinda just lurking in the back ground trying to get motivation to get back on track.

Scale is up to 185 (was at a all time low at 138 in 2007 from a high of 250 in 2006). Frustrated that the scale is going in the wrong direction but no motivation to change my eating/drinking habits.

So - that's me for today...

Deb,
I am so sorry about your ankle. I hope it will heal soon.

My anklehas been bothering for a long time now. I am thinking that arthritis has set in there too and it keeps me from exercising a lot. I'll find out more about it next month.

OLDHIPPIES,
you really made my day or should I say night? LOL You've got the right idea, even though there are some people that sleep walk right straight to the refrigerator and eat without waking up. They couldn't figure out why they were gaining and what happened to their food. They had a show about that on TV not too long ago.

SP also tells us to get plenty of sleep in order to lose weight. I don't think they had your idea in mind though. Ha ha

This has been a long struggle, where I did real well the first couple of years and then slowly ended up gaining most of the weight back.

I have this all down to a science. I only have trouble while I'm awake I found out that people are not hungry nor do they eat while they are a sleep. So I developed the Rip Van Winkle diet soon to be released in paperback at your nearest wal-mart. lol and all you have to do is sleep, sleep, sleep and watch the weight melt away and there is no restrictions you can eat all your favorite foods and as much as you want but only while you sleep.

We have a lot of SC in our area. What hurts us is that we have inventory very soon and they want to cut hours.

nope.. they had a hiring freeze for a while, but are back again hiring..
we are not in a tourist area, but we are the only super center in or around a big City (Calgary, Alberta, population over 1,000,000, that's just the city proper, not including surrounding communities, and that's big by Canada standards)
most of our customers, travel the 15 minutes to us to save on food.

Hi all I just joined your team. Please be patient with me I bought my P.C. from K-mart so it is slow.and a blue light keeps flashing. I did get the new wal-mart bathroom scales and it is great. When you weigh yourself you swipe your card and it knocks 10 percent of your weight off.

Hi Everyone emoticon

I am back again. The surgery went well on Tuesday morning and I was surprised when they gave me real food for dinner on that same day already. I kept the staff on their toes though because I kept having low blood pressure with the lowest being 70/32 and the highest 84/43. They tried out so many different machines and locations hoping to get higher numbers. One of the male nurses asked me if there was anything that would excite me. I wonder what he had in mind, Ha ha.

On Wednesday, my surgeon ordered a blood transfusion and they gave me two bags and two more on Thursday. Friday morning was the first time it went over a hundred and by the time they released me in the afternoon it was 124/57. I've been told to monitor my blood pressure at home and discontinue my water pills for a while. I would love to drop them.

The knee must be awful heavy, because I gained 14 pounds at the hospital even though I was very careful with the food intake. I can bend my knee more than I was able with the first one. My first physical theraphy will be monday morning.

I feel great and the pain has been manageable so far. I have been very tired since I came home and have slept a lot. My grandbabies came over this afternoon and it was the first time I got up today other than for the bathroom breaks.

You'll hear from me more often again once I dig through all the messages and emails I have.

Thank you all for your wishes and prayers for me. I appreciated them all.

This has been a long struggle, where I did real well the first couple of years and then slowly ended up gaining most of the weight back.

Just a few lines to let you know that I'll be gone for a few days. I'll have my knee replacement surgery tomorrow morning. I should be home by friday afternoon.

Take care everybody.

This has been a long struggle, where I did real well the first couple of years and then slowly ended up gaining most of the weight back.

Just wanted to say hello. I joined you all a few weeks ago as an Asda uk colleague but since then i have not logged on due to lots of things going on.
But now hopefully life is back on an even keel and i can get to know some of my Wal-Mart colleagues.

I did finally go outside and complete my run, 3.25 miles.

I had my first 5K on Saturday and finished in 43 minutes according to my DH but when I checked the results it was actually 42:59 (one second actually makes a difference). I have another 5K this week and one the following week then two weeks off before my next one.

Hope everyone has a great day. I will try but the weather is cold and very wet here, brrrr.

How was your run yesterday?

We went to a dance last night and I managed to do a few dances before pain really settled in. At least I exercised some.

Couldn't sleep this morning so I was up at 4:45 ate breakfast then spent 2 hours at the gym. Worked 6 hours at job #1 and now getting ready for my evening shift at Wal~Mart. I am already exhausted I hope I don't have to deal with any stupid people. Because I don't have patience when I am tired.

Good evening fellow team mates and Wally Worlders!! Since today was my day off I had a few minutes to drop in and say HI!!

I just got back from the gym I had to do my run and since we got 6 inches of snow overnight an outside run was kinda out of the question.

Cat, How are you feeling? Better I hope!!

Karilee,

How long have you been on 3rd shift? The reason I am asking is for some individuals 3rd shift is just more than their body can handle. Two years ago I was laid off and was called back for 3rd shift and after a couple of weeks I started having severe headaches, anxiety attacks and started suffering from insomnia because me body could not adjust to 3rd shift.

Anyways I hope everything is okay with you, and I hope you feel better soon.

I am ok today. 2 nights ago I almost passed out while checking at work. They got me a wheel chair and sent me home. ( I got a ride from a wonderful co-worker ). Today I went to my doctor to find out what is going on. I have had headaches and migraines for 4 weeks or so straight, so they want to have me get a CAT scan of my brain to make sure it isn't MS. Then i am off to a neurologist.
I am ok today just a little tired. I am on 3rd shift now.

Have a good day!
