I've got about a half dozen different ground cover plants growing in their own little spaces. Some are much more aggressive than others and crowd out other plants faster. I could go out everyday and pull one of them in particular, but if I miss ONE molecule of root, it's back.

If anybody wants a barn-full of cleavers, they are going wild here & everywhere. I'm going to take a rake and see how much I can pull up. DH complains that I don't get the roots. The reality is that with the many hours I've thrown at these the past few years, it hasn't made a dent in the outcome. -- At least I can get them out of the plants and find the flowers!

Good morning, hope you all have a great memorial day weekend. It is not supposed to be too bad here, some rain but plenty of dry hours so I may get to grill. It is nice and warm but not too hot. I got my hubby to ride bikes with me last night and then we walked to one of our favorite restaurants for dinner. It was really nice.

Jumpup, I started weeding over a month ago and they just keep coming! I put down landscape fabric in one bed last year and it is not so bad but there are still some weeds.

Good morning ladies!

Berry, thanks for the laugh, very funny link.

I think I will try the honey, I don't sleep well anymore and just live tired!

Jumpup, I have lots of weeds when you get done with yours, I am going to be so busy this weekend, and I have pulled so many already!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Getting to sleep is not an issue for me. Staying asleep past about 4 hours is. I know I need more than that, but I find myself falling asleep in the recliner for about 3-4 hours before I wake up and go to bed for 3-4 hours. I hate it. Even if I go to bed first, it works the same way.

I've been getting yard work in between raindrops, and even though I consistently put out 7 cans of yard waste each week, I am no where near being able to say, ah, now it's just maintenance! Too many areas of the yard just need complete overhauls.

I've been keeping up with my workouts, too. My Tai Chi class starts tomorrow, and Qigong and Aqua Jog start next week. So glad, because even though I have been working hard and eating right for the most part, my scale seems to be stuck! I will miss my end of May goal, but I'm not too concerned. It was only a few pounds and will tack on to June nicely.

Great Day!

I've been trying this for the past 5 nights. Four of those were wonderful, and last night was not. (Even though I'm 53, TOM is still a regular occurrence. My issues seem to magnify the week before arrival.)

Spent a bit of time at a Farmer's Market an hour away from home. It's always interesting to see what's out, available, etc. I met several very nice vendors and had a couple of pleasant conversations.

Then I found a booth for donation quilts. There was a humorous potholder that caught my eye, so I came home & tried to find the quote again. (Can you tell I'm older & rambling?!)

Anyway, I found a humor link that I'll share here for your laugh for the day!

What a wonderful Mother's Day gift!

I will call my sister to wish her a happy day, and my daughter will call me, that's good enough for me. My daughter used to bring me breakfast in bed, and I loved it. Her kids aren't quite old enough to master it yet, though. She's in for a treat when they are!

You're lucky to get your husband to go biking with you, Frannie!

Today was my Mother's Day treat. My son and his girlfriend and I went to downtown Los Angeles and had some wonderful food, and a really fun time. We all shared food so none of us ate too much, even though none of it was exactly calorie conscious. Then we went back to his apartment and had a lovely video chat with my daughter, SIL and grandson in Virginia. Lots of hilarity ensued. Really can't ask for more. I am lucky.

Good for you Barbara, I think it is the getting started that is hardest.

I got a walk in before the rain started but there will be no bike ride tonight, it is pouring. My flowers are happy.

I got my DH to go bike riding with me, a little longer than he wanted but it is good for him! It was fun. I am looking forward to the weekend, I had hoped to work in the garden, but it is supposed to rain all weekend so I guess that is not happening. I have a couple of areas I want to get cleaned out.

I feel as though I was very successful today--I actually went to the gym and did my 65 minutes on the elliptical. I was sooo close to skipping it, but once I was there, I knew that I would have regretted not going.

So come and visit!

Got everything but the laundry done yesterday, but I was running on empty by the time I pulled the last trash container out.

Today I go to the clinic to pick up some Rxs. I take the clinic van, so that's like an all day affair, but I will get some steps in!

Got half my routine in with the rest to follow. The 8 lbs is working out well, cuts my reps in half and oh, I can feel it!

That won't work--I have never been to the Great Lakes, so I can't move back. Besides there are a lot of idiotic ideas for getting water to Los Angeles and environs. None of them work out because--they're stupid ideas!

Sorry, Frannie and Barbara, I think the Great Lakes water ought to stay where it is. You want water, move backl. Just my opinion.

Garbage and Yard Waste night, so I will be mowing lawns and pulling as many weeds as will fit in my containers! They are almost full as it is!

My left knee is my problem knee, sometimes exercise hurts it, sometimes makes it feel better. I think it depends on the weather, LOL. But getting up off the ground is becoming more and more of a challenge.

I got my new blender yesterday - can't wait to try it out! Also treated myself to an 8lb weight. I've been using 5 lbs, 30 reps and felt I could do more, so I got the 8 lb. to try out. It seems to be exactly right, so I will go out today and get the second one. 10 lbs by fall!

Well, not a drop fell that I saw.

I went to the gym this morning, and managed 40 minutes on the elliptical. I did a reasonable time on strength as well. It has been several weeks since I broke the toe so my exercise has been spotty. There is still some soreness with it, but I am going without shoes this afternoon to let it rest. It is definitely better, thank goodness.

I have a touch of arthritis in my hand, but probably a tad in teh knees, too, so I feel for you. This morning I realized that my knees have been feeling really good for the last couple of weeks, when I haven't been getting exercise, so no stress!! It is a double edged sword--exercise and the knees get sore on and off, no exercise and they are better but overall not as good for me!

Barbara, I would send you some of our rain too, if I could. It is getting warm today and it is definitely a little muggy. I did read an article about California and the southwest wanting to divert some of our lovely Great Lakes water. Not sure how they would get it that far in a cost effective manner.

I am finally getting over the soreness from digging and kneeling while gardening over the weekend. Now I will do it all over again this weekend! It did do a number on my knees, arthritis is a bit of an issue and walking everyday has helped so much but evidently kneeling doesn't. I am going to have to figure out the best way to do that.

Have a great Wednesday!

Barbara, I hope it does rain for you. I read where CA is instituting 'unprecedented' water restrictions. I would GLADLY share some of our rain!

I 'restrict' my water usage because I don't want to pay the bill. Basically, the one resource that we have left here in Cleve is Lake Erie. They are predicting an increased shipping season this year - hurray!

Got my toe lifts and sinkups in this morning, will do the rest as soon as I finish my coffee. I'm going out to buy a blender today - smoothie season is upon us!, but I do expect to get more yardwork in, there is just too much to do to let even one day slide.

Jumpup, I did a lot of gardening this weekend too. Lot's of weeding and digging and then planting. My flowers are mostly in, I do continue to add through the summer. We planted seeds and the garden is ready for tomatoes and peppers. OMG, I am so sore now!

It is raining here, supposed to rain off and on all week but it is not cold so that is good. I got to go bike riding yesterday, just a little though. It is going to take awhile to build up to nice long rides. I had forgotten how much I loved riding a bike, it has been years!

Tra-la, it's May!

I didn't think it would ever get here, and it'll be gone before you know it! We are expecting a couple days of rain, a couple days of sun and a couple more days of rain. Enough to make the grass grow, enough time to cut it, and on it goes.

I've been busy outside, ripping up old rose bushes, trying to tame the weeds - lots of work done, not much to show for it, LOL! Lots more to be done!

(May 1 was a religious holiday for me - dedicated to the Virgin Mary,)

May Day celebrations must be a regional thing. I'm 63, grew up in NYC and never celebrated May Day.

Yeah, it is May! I meant to come on here and post for May Day, no one where I work knows or remembers May Day! Does anyone here? When I was little we would leave little baskets with flowers on the neighbors doorstep, often we made them at school. I did it with my kids, we would make up baskets with little pots of flowers for our elderly neighbors and then our church's youth group picked it up and would take flowers to shut ins. But no one seems to have heard of that. So sad, it is such a sweet tradition.

Hope you all have a great week!
