We are in the middle of an 8" snow fall now - jeez. I left this morning at 7:15 to go to my Tai Chi class and didn't stay for the Aqua Jog class. By the time I got home again, I couldn't see the driveway tracks and when I tried to pull in, the wheels just spun.

I kept backing up to get a running start to make it up the hill, but kept getting stuck. ZZZssssss. I finally got the car off the street, but across the sidewalk and I left it there. If it would ever let up snowing, I have to get out there and dig my car out and up the driveway. I'm just not feelin' it, ya know?

Jumpup, so glad to hear the results were good! Even when they tell you it is nothing to worry about you worry so it is much worse when you think there might be something.

I feel your pain, we did not get nearly the snow you did and it is still way too much, we got close to 2 feet and I don't think it will go away anytime soon with the cold. I keep seeing the pictures of the northeast and it is just incredible!

CT scan showed nothing, so I am feeling relieved. They oughta fire that radiologist who marked the xRay!

More snow and more snow, I am running out of places to pile it! We need a warm up BAD! This can't last forever, can it?

It is so cold now, we are supposed to be cold for the next few days. They are calling for subzero temps by Thursday, not looking forward to that!

Jumpup, I am glad your hips are in good shape and hope the lesion is nothing. Keeping you in my thoughts!

I have been eating out of control the last few days, not sure why. It is not a good thing working in a grade school during Valentine's Day, the candy is just everywhere and it will continue to come as teachers bring the boxes of candy they received into the teacher's lounge. I just can't go in there at all! Teacher's do not need another box of candy for sure!

Good thing snow shoveling is such good exercise!

Ortho said hips are in good shape (from the inside, anyway) so I must have pulled a muscle. But the xray shows a lesion the size of a half dollar on my sacrum. More follow up, YAY!

My daughter said that they got snow today in VA, and my son is in DC this week on business, so he got some, too. Meanwhile, it is mid-80s here in CA.

Very cold today - going to get even colder over the weekend.

Did my water jog class this morning, hip gave me no trouble in the water, I don't know if that's a good sign or a bad one. PCP is sending me to ortho tomorrow.

Barbara, I don't blame you. My hubby has to eat fairly early because of heart burn. I don't like to cook right away though so we play a balancing act.

Very cold today and still pretty icy. I have not been able to get much walking in. I got a new bike for Christmas and I just can't wait to ride it but I will probably have to wait a few more weeks before it is nice enough and the ice is gone.

Didn't go last night. It was at a bad time for me--when I am making my dinner and eating. I didn't want to eat earlier and I didn't want to eat later, so I just didn't go!

Frannie, I feel your snow blower pain! Good luck - if you don't find a used one, they should be going on sale soon to make way for LAWNMOWERS!!

Got about half my routine in and decided to check in on SP. The rest of the day will be housework and running through the Tai Chi so I don't forget what I learned yesterday!

Weight is stuck, but I haven't been as careful as I should have been, I let some decadent snacks through the gateway.

Jumpup, I am trying to talk my hubby into a snow blower. He cannot shovel, he has arthritis in his lower spine and has had 2 major abdominal surgeries and 1 hernia surgery. I am not nursing him through another one! So shoveling falls to me most of the time although the kids try to help. He says we only need it a few times a year, I say those are crucial times and I am the one shoveling. They are expensive so it is not in the cards this year for sure. I am looking for a used one.

It is not to bad here today, no snowing and it is in the mid 30s. It is supposed to be in the 30s for the next few days so that will be nice. It is still February so it is going to be cold for a couple more months.

I did pretty good eating this week, I am not unhappy with myself but still need to improve. Exercise has been okay, just not much walking with all the cold and snow. I did walk the dog a bit yesterday though, he was as happy as I was!

No shoveling yesterday, none today either, life is good! It is finally Friday and I am so glad. I am working on girding myself up to finish cleaning out my mom's bedroom (only a year and 1/2 later) and setting up a sewing/craft room. I have also been trying to close Mom and Pop's Storage Facility now that most of the kids don't live at home anymore. They have been out for quite awhile so it is definitely time to decide what to do with all the garbage they don't want but don't want to part with. I have to put my foot down. I keep procrastinating, just don't want to deal with all this stuff! No time like the present I guess, I did do a lot a couple of weeks ago so hope to get a lot more accomplished this weekend.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

I did nothing but color my hair and take a shower yesterday, snow or no snow.

Still feeling a little beat up, but there are things I HAVE to do today; think laundry and dishes. I got my 35 sinkups in this morning, I'm thinking that's about all I'm going to do of my routine - Tai Chi and swimming tomorrow.

According to the paper, it hit 80 here yesterday and is supposed to be in the high 70's today. My house, however, stays cool, so I have on a sweater! Not complaining, believe me.

Jumpup, I am not going to have to shovel for at least 3 days, they are not calling for anymore snow until Sunday, Woo Hoo! It is very good exercise but I sure do get tired of doing it. I just can't stand winter, I don't like snow and cold. It is very cold today but is supposed to warm up all the way into the 30s this weekend!

More snow to shovel.

I am going to miss my swim class this morning - my decision. I am taking a day off, I can't bear to shovel another scoop of snow. And my body needs a rest day.

Barbara, it is hard to go to Panera and choose wisely, a lot of the food is high in fat, calories and sodium. Good for you!

Jumpup, I am lucky, I know. My hubby gets upset when I shovel but I keep telling him that I can't always rely on the kids to do it, they have work and families to deal with. As long as I stay in shape I can do it. I have a neighbor who is in her 90s and last year was the 1st year she did not shovel! She is my inspiration!

Good for you Barbara! the longest journey...... and you took the first step, you'll be back in the groove in no time.

Frannie, how lucky to have a SIL so close! I finally finished the snow yesterday, and then it snowed again overnight! With more on tap for this afternoon. I have my Qigong class at 11, I hope it holds off til I get home.

Best investment I made this fall? A new pair of snow boots that keep your feet warm to 5 degrees. And they work.

Ready to start my morning routine.

Thanks for the encouragement, Jumpup. I met a friend for dinner at Panera last night (neither of us really likes the food but it is close and always empty_, so I did have bread, but for once, I chose wisely in terms of calories.

Jumpup, I was the same way, I did finish shoveling but my SIL helped so I didn't have to do all of it. It was heavy!

I babysat all day and my eating went totally down the drain. No excuse but I need to get on track for sure today. With the birthday party this weekend and yesterdays free for all I am sure I gained a bit this week.

Didn't finish shoveling the snow yesterday - it's heavy snow! So that's on the agenda for today.

I'll get as much of my routine in as I can, but I am feeling pretty beat up from yesterday's go round with the snow! And it was like 12 degrees!

I am definitely saving up for a snow blower for next year.

Time to buckle down, Barbara! Good for you for keeping it off that long - NOW is not the time to let go! We are here for you!

20 inches! Wow.

I was going to treat myself to chicken wings for the Super Bowl--we always did a special meal for it--but after I weighed myself I decided that I didn't deserve a treat right now. I need to get back to eating right and the exercise, and get these pounds I gained this year off. I kept everything off for nearly 8 years, and this past year put on between 5-10. Just unacceptable!

I too, am not on a 'DIET'. I am just trying to construct healthy eating habits. It's almost funny the stuff I won't eat anymore.

I made my end of Jan goal with 2 pounds to spare, getting me that much closer to Valentines Day goal. I have upped my calorie burn, in addition to eating in moderation. I signed up for 4 classes at the Community College rec department; Qigong and Tai Chi, water walking and deep water exercise. Classes just started last week - then came the snow! First icy snow, then the big one that hasn't stopped yet. I shoveled twice yesterday and am about to go out and do it again. I'm so worn out it has disrupted my daily routine (sinkups, weights, modified pushups and plank) already did my 12 modified push ups and tricep weight work.

The rest will wait - if I do them at all, til AFTER snow. I'm guessing we got 10 -12" total.

I didn't mean to, but I slept thru the super bowl.

My husband loves football so I need something to look forward to! We didn't watch all of it, he was convinced that the Patriots were going to lose so he turned it off, fooled him! They won!

We got almost 20 inches of snow last night, it is a mess so I am home work today. I am babysitting my GD. She turned 4 yesterday, it snowed heavily the day she was born, and snowed heavily last year. We are getting used to it!

I have no plans to even turn the game on. Whenever I try to watch the ads, since I am uninterested in the game, I always miss them! Truthfully, when I saw them afterwards, they weren't all that good anyway. So I will watch something else.

I do try to read labels and eat as healthy as I can. I think balance is what is really important, no bad foods, just foods you limit to special occasions.

It is snowing, we have already gotten a ton of snow since last night and it is supposed to continue until late tonight. I was planning on shoveling this afternoon, but the wind is so high right now it just blows back over the side walk so I guess I will wait until it calms down some. That won't be until tomorrow so I know what I am doing tomorrow after work! Our car is in the shop so I will be taking the bus to work also. At least I get some cardio! Gotta love it.

Have a great superbowl weekend, I am not a football fan but my husband is excited so I guess I will watch the ads!

Reading labels has become such a thing for me that I cannot buy some things because I know what is in them and I won't put it in my body!

I do have to agree, we watch what we eat, fill the fridge with fruits and veggies so that they are there to eat and try to limit bad snacks. Still working on hubbies eating habits but that is a bigger challenge than my own eating habits!

I started ling weight slow an steady when I quit all the so called food plans and diets, I just started reading label and purchasing fresh or frozen fruits, no product that had had ingredients that I could not pronounce, Meats that were hormone free, etc. This means that I shop the outside of the store, forgetting the isles except for cleaning produces. I hve found our local farmers markets for fresh fruits and vegetables

Keep on track

That really is the only way, this has to be a total life style change and not just a "diet" that you stop when you reach a goal. It is certainly the only way to maintain your freeing of the excess pounds (I don't lose them anymore, I set them free!)

I joined one of the biggest loser challenges this year, I had done it before and then when my mom was diagnosed with lung cancer she came to live with me and I had no time to focus on that kind of challenge. I haven't lost any pounds really but I am slowly stepping up my strength training which is one area I really struggle with. I am also slowly improving my eating habits (really struggle with that!) and it has been very helpful. This is the 2nd round and I am going to go for the Spring round too. Hopefully I will see some of the pounds drop too. I also got a bike for Christmas. I haven't gotten to ride it yet (I live in the Chicago area) but I just got a new helmet and I hope that by March I will be riding my bike. It is so cute, my daughters and son got it for me. It is just a plain bike like I rode when I was a kid. No speeds, no hand brakes I am so pleased with it.

Have a great weekend ladies!

I actually finally lost a lot of weight when I stopped dieting and just started eating rationally--and exercising, of course.

Barbara, I am not on a diet, I just removed that word from my vocabulary. I am trying to learn to eat the way I need to eat for the rest of my life. I decided to focus on the good habits I need to build and forget diets and whatever other weight loss plans people keep shoving at me. I just need to be healthy and fit which definitely means changing my eating habits and cutting back on portions but it is something that will not be changing just because I reach some goal. I just want to be doing what it takes to get and stay healthy.

I'll jump in here, if that's all right! My name is Barbara, too. I confess that I'm not really on a diet at this time, although I have roughly 60-70 pounds to lose. I'm trying to get motivated...I have lost the weight many times before, but haven't kept it off. I'm not big on resolutions either, because I find I don't stick to them. I love the idea of selecting one word to define your goals. My word is "change." I just retired in January 2015. My life is changing and so am I. Now that I have finally got time for myself, I want to figure out how I can CHANGE what I've always done so I can become happier and healthier. I also just turned 59 so this is my last chance to figure it out while I'm still 50-something!

I keep meaning to come here and post but I have been very lazy! I am on a computer all day at work and when I get home I hardly touch one lately, it has been crazy busy at work. We are getting prepared for the state tests, this is the 1st year it will all be on the computer and it is just nuts. I can't wait until this is all done.

Thanks for getting this up Barbara, I think this time of year gets a little busy for everyone.

Did anyone make a New Years Resolution? I usually don't, they just don't seem to help me at all but this year everyone was talking about choosing a word that will be like a focus word for the coming year, I kind of like that idea so I have been thinking about a word. This year I choose Frugal - I need to save money and cut expenses and I also like the idea of making do and trying to live a bit simply so I am trying to make that my focus. Not so easy but instead of a resolution that you must keep or break, this seems more like a target to work toward or a goal not so much a big change. I just thought it was a good concept! So I invite all of you to choose a word for your focus this year, and let us all know what it is and why it is important to you!

Wow! I have been falling off of all the threads--not posting much. Frannie usually reminds me when I don't post a new thread. Hope she is ok!

December was insane because my daughter, SIL and 2 year old grandson were staying with me. It was wonderful to have both my children together for all the holidays this year, and to be able to see my daughter so much. Although, having a 2 year old in the house 24/7 was exhausting. I am so accustomed to being alone, that it wore me out, even doing nothing! They've been gone since New Year's and I am still recovering!
