March was lamb-like today but I suspect she was really a lion in disguise because freezing rain, snow, ice, and sleet are all predicted from tonight through Monday - last prediction said 8-12, but I have heard 3-6, 6-10 and all say at least 1/2 inch or more of ICE. It looks to be pretty ugly.

Today was a great day though - women's breakfast at church turned into lunch and a movie - then I followed it up by going to the pool. Had a really nice day.

Glad you joined this team, Kathryn!!!

Feeling a little out of sorts and bloated today. Trying to restrict how much I drink and how much sodium I take on today. I have an insatiable thirst, but it only leads to bloat, so doc told me not to give in to it too much. It's a pituitary problem that I am so hoping will go away soon.

In the meantime, Leg Lifts!

Hi Kathryn, welcome!

Okay folks, snow again. We are supposed to get another 3 - 6 inches (depending on who you watch). I am not a happy camper, we have had snow on the ground since January. I don't think I have ever been so ready for spring and it seems to be a long way away. We are finally going to get into the 30s next weekend. We had a short warm spell a week ago and were left with icy sidewalks. I haven't been able to walk to work since December. A little sun would be awesome too!

Enough grousing, I had a great morning with my grand daughter, she wanted me to make green eggs and ham (they are celebrating Dr. Suess at her preschool). They made them at school, but I have no ham. She told me "Grandma, you can make ham!" Well folks, I don't know how to make ham without a pig. She was finally convinced, so we are going to buy ham later today and then ask her teacher how to make Green Eggs and Ham!

Glad you got the rain - hope you continue to have a gentle earth soaking rain.

The regular pool is heated but only a little - about 80 degrees where the therapy pool is about 92 degrees - I don't normally mind the regular pool but with my muscles acting up the PT wants me to keep my muscles warm.

Finally rained last night, and this morning was just beautiful--blue sky, fluffy white clouds. Sometime during the wee small hours coming up, it is supposed to start raining again through the weekend.

Nancy, I have a hard time with cold pools, anyway! That was one nice thing about the Y, the pool was heated. I am able to use the pool at the Community College across the street when my arm is healed, but I found out it's not heated! UGH!!! And since it's a college, and not a spa, I am doubtful they have a therapy pool, LOL. Oh well. I guess it will depend on how dedicated I want to be.... Surely they will have hot showers....

Although a snowy, blowy, COLD day like today and even a hot shower wouldn't be enough.

Franny - I will keep your hubby in my prayers and you also

Started PT today and he told me not to be in the regular swimming pool but that I could use the therapy pool since it is warm. He said for now, I don't need to be in the cold pool - whoops! It is a good thing I can spend a LONG time in the therapy pool and can exercise there.

Nancy, it is always so wonderful to reconnect with important people in our lives.

Barbara, I have looked for a good book club here but haven't found a good match, I will try that book. Light reading is the best I can do when I am not on vacation, I fall asleep and anything that requires complete attention is totally lost on me. I save that for vacation!

It is cold, cold, cold here yet again. It is so hard to believe that it is almost March when the temps are in the low 20s and below. Today we will get to around 11 and tomorrow not out of single digits. More snow on the way too. Hate to grouse about this but it really is getting old now.

Hubby is at the Dr. I am waiting to hear from him. He has had a virus for about 3 or 4 weeks now (I guess he got it from me) and went to the Dr last week finally. They told him he may have emphysema so he is back today for follow up and to schedule tests. I have been trying to get him to see his Dr. for months now, I kept hearing this wheezing sound when he exerted himself a bit but he claimed he could not hear anything and kept putting it off. The virus got so bad he was coughing constantly and very short of breath so he finally went in. His appointment was over 2 hours ago so I am a bit nervous about what they find out. I hate for him to go without me, he never gets the info right and often over re-acts about the littlest thing. I thought they would just schedule tests today and planned to go with him when he got the results. Hope I can still do that.

Nancy, I am so glad you were able to reconnect. Feels good, doesn't it.

And Barbara, I'm glad you found a good group! Hard to come by.

I was at the clinic today, so I did some walking and stairs. I'm starting to hold too much water, so a lot of it was just gurgling and sloshing around, but by God, I did it! I am afraid if I stop, I'll rust in place!

Wishing all a truly blessed day and that the rest of your week goes well too. Today was a bit emotional - reconnected with Helen's grandson who has been out of contact and no phone or way to connect with him - got a phone number of a friend of his so we can connect again. It was a very emotional moment for all of us and it felt good to be able to HUG all around.

I LOVE Colcannon.

I had tried Meetup online once a long time ago - people in this area seemed to be pretty slow to jump on that bandwagon. Time to try again.

Sorry your March book will not be, shall we say, the best.

Nancy - sounds like you had quite the emotional day yesterday. Glad you got through it with strength and friends.

Jumpup, you can always read the large print books. I found this group on Meetup online. Try it and see what is going on in your area. The book was called New Orleans Mourning by Julie Smith. It wasn't great but it was a nice light read, and I plan to try another of her books.

We had a lot of fun yesterday. The hostess loves to entertain and always does some fun things--food wise! She made a red beans and rice with andouille sausage, another woman made shrimp creole, and another brought a Mardi Gras King Cake. I always eat too much there!! Next month the book is going to be total crap, but it is March so we are doing a St. Patty's theme. I am going to be organized for once and bring something. My first suggestions will be colcannon or soda bread but I may have to do more research for an Irish recipe.

Today's church service was wonderful today - we had the installation of the vestry and wardens, but best of all we had a new baby to bless and embrace - she was born on February 3rd in the wee hours of the morning - she brought her mommy to church for the first time today - the congregation is older so all us old women and men who watched mommy grow up from a wild child to a lovely and spiritual young woman are officially the grandparents of this little girl and we will embrace her physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It was a truly blessed moment. It was also my Sunday to prepare brunch and I used to do that WITH HELEN so I really missed her today. We also had a sax player do our music with the pianist and the prelude was "In the Garden" - Helen's favorite song and one we often sang with and to her during the last weeks of her life. It brought tears to my eyes. TRULY a BLESSED morning

Jump up, glad you enjoyed our grocery trip. I know it doesn't sound like much, but the change of scenery is good for the mood.

NancyPat, I'm sorry to hear about your son's back problems. I know it must be very hard for him to have the pain and limited activity. My prayers go out for him and your family as you watch him suffer.

I'm feeling much better, but still no where near 100%. It's pretty rough since today is a beautiful day with temps in the low 70s. Of course, tomorrow is supposed to be back colder., so the roller coaster ride continues!

Well? What was the book???

I have looked for a book group in the past and had no luck. I wonder if there are large print clubs, LOL!

Seems to be a decent day out, cold, but no precip. That is supposed to come later. I am so over this winter.

Spending some time cooking today - gotta clear room in the freezer for prepared meals - so much better to pull out a homemade dish than a slab of frozen meat and wonder where to start.

Oh, Nancy, so sorry about your son. My dad had stenosis, and it was quite painful and frustrating for him. I know back surgery is usually a last resort, but they are getting so good at it. Check up on the surgeon, make sure he's done it before, he's good at it - you know the drill.

Prayers go out to the both of you.

The sun is shining today, and it's definitely spring light. ALL things are possible!

Spent another 4 hours in the pool tonight - this one was planned as it was Friday night and I know I would sleep well tonight if I really spent the time I WANTED to spend instead of rushing to get home so I would get ENOUGH sleep - it was GOOD.

My son Ed got the results of his MRI - serious deterioration since his last one, they want to schedule an appointment with a surgeon to discuss options - apparently there are several disks involved and nerves are being pinched - stenosis quite advanced - he is still MY baby and only 46 - I hope they try a few other options before resorting to surgery.

Oh, Bgumba, so sorry you are not feeling well!

Our weather is changing as we speak, going from nice, windy, 50s, partly sunny to snow flurries expected tonight. At least the sidewalks and driveway are clear, I can start over again!

I made it out to the grocery store this afternoon, I'm running at slow speed, so it took forever, but it did feel good to get out!

Our warm weather is history here. It was 75 at 1 p.m. today, but thunderstorms came through and the temps have dropped to 63. They are supposed to continue dropping during the night, abd be cooler tomorrow.

At least I don't feel like getting outside, since I'm wrapped up in a blanket in a 75 degree house. Running a temp and not being able to breathe have destroyed my appetite, so I'm having to force myself to find things to eat. it's hard to do when everything is tasteless!

Today was the first WHOLE day in ages - temps in the 50s, sunshine, and it was still just above freezing when I got home from the pool - stayed longer at the pool than most of the time - almost 4 hours - new lifeguard and there was nobody else at the pool so she wanted to talk and time slipped away - I continued to workout the entire time. I am tired and when I got home I was STARVING - my son Ed made mashed cauliflower, brussels sprouts, and tilapia - YUM and enough of the sprouts to ensure I was FULL without wanting dessert or something more.

Well, we did get into the 40s with plenty of rain! Took down a lot of the snow into icy watery puddles, and what's left will refreeze overnight. Supposed to be about the same tomorrow.

ENT post-op appt today, still on some head restrictions - and I guess there is still a possibiltiy that I could have break through spinal fluid leak until I'm really finally healed, there's a fun thought. Next appt is a month, and he says all should be well by then. It's a good thing. I don't think this man makes enough money to do what he does, LOL!

Endocrine problems seem to be slower to resolve, but I see progress there, too. Whew.

But I will be glad to get this Picc line out of my arm, so I can actually DO something. They have really struck the fear of God into me over it! Don't strain, don't get it wet, don't don't don't. Well, okay, then, I won't!

Sadly, I did pull a small muscle in the top of my leg yesterday doing my leg lifts. Nothing bad, but I felt it all day yesterday and today. I declared a day of rest! Other than the walking that I always do at the clinic, I just took it easy. And you know what? It's feeling better already!

Weather here is cloudy with temps in the 60s. Tomorrow is supposed to be back near 70s with possible thunder storms and gusty winds. By Monday we'll be back into 40s for highs. I guess our short summer will be over soon! emoticon

I would love to go for a walk, but I'm expecting a couple of packages to be delivered this afternoon. Since I have to sign for one, I'm grounded. Maybe one of these days I'll learn to behave and keep out of trouble. emoticon

NancyPat, we are getting your day today. We had slushy rain all morning, it is supposed to get up to 50 today so lots of melting snow! I just hope no flooding since the ground is so frozen.

I'm praying for the warm up and rain for tomorrow - that ought to knock down most of the snow. Please let that be an end to it! Now that the morning light looks like morning again instead of some kind of punishment, I don't care if it is cold, just no snow - and I'll be out walking.

Well today was a bi-polar day - started with freezing rain and icy roads - 2-hour delay called, then canceled school for the kids and staff had to report by 11 - the sun was shining and just above freezing, then we had a downpour of rain and then the sun returned and it went up to around 50 and I am hoping and praying it doesn't freeze tonight. Spent several hours at the pool this afternoon and LOVE being able to get out of the house and get a GOOD workout - unless it is in the pool, it is not a really REALLY good workout for me.

It is almost 50 degrees here! I don't think I can remember when it was this warm. The snow is melting and it freezes at night but at least I can now believe that there might be a day in the future without 3 feet of snow on the ground!

It felt like rain this morning but it is just beautiful out. I'm like you, Bonnie--sitting at the computer inside instead of being out there.

It's 72 and sunny right now, so I have no idea why I'm sitting at this computer. Since it's supposed to be back down in the 30s and 40s next week, I need to get out and enjoy it while I can. I went to the Y for a workout, but now I'm off for a short walk to help me unwind as well.

Well, I didn't get out yesterday. More's the pity. My sister came over for a while, but all she wanted to do is yell at me and who needs that! I recognize she's frustrated and had no patience, but don't take it out on me, for pity's sake! I have little enough patience of my own!

We ended up laughing about it, so it's all good, but I really wanted to get out. 8'' of snow last night, the neighbors seem to have forgotten me - oh no! Must bake more cookies!

Little warm up is on the way, I might be able to do a little shoveling, but I don't want to over-stress the Picc line in my arm. And that's there for another month at least.

Spring cannot get here fast enough for me.

Still haven't made it to the doctor about my foot, so my exercise is a lower level than usual. I hate going to the doctor.....

NancyPat, that chicken casserole sounds delicious! My son cooks but he hasn't done it for me in a while.

Hi all hope you are all well. We got 5 inches of snow yesterday, just what we needed! However, it is supposed to get warmer for the next couple of days. Maybe even in the 40s! I don't know how to handle that. It is supposed to rain so I am hoping that it won't flood, I think later in the spring we might get some flooding. We are just making sure everything is up off the basement floor so there are not problems.

I am so glad so many of you are doing well with diet and/or exercise, I am trying to get back on track and making some progress. Not fast but all of this does take time.

Just came in from a 2 mile walk in the upper 60s. It's really nice after the cold temps of the last few weeks. (42 was yesterday's high here!) Everything here is saturated, so if we get more rain, it has no where to go except to the rivers and over their banks. Evidently my daffodils enjoyed the snow and cold since they have nice buds--the last few years they have been blooming by this time so they are a few weeks behind schedule.

I'm helping with a sewing project at church tonight. We're making drawstring backpacks for the children who attend VBS this summer. We have to make about 200--tonight we'll get them cut out, and then get busy on the sewing in a couple of weeks.

Hope everyone had a great day. School was good, the pool was GREAT and son Ed and I are going to enjoy a really good chicken casserole for dinner tonight. He really outdid himself, making it with lots of extra veggies.

My son was supposed to bring some beer yesterday so that I could do a braise this week, but he forgot. He tried to help get my new camera installed on my computer when he was here, but my computer is old and the dvd drive doesn't work very well, so he got very frustrated and I sent him home. I did it today, although it took so long that I am not going to try out the camera today.

Weigh in is tomorrow but I took my measurements today. First time since I have started on Spark. I decided to measure once a month for extra motivation. Lost a total of 5 inches. 1.5 each from bust and waist so VERY happy with that. Long way to go but I'll take it.
