Home from my WW meeting, I was missing in action 6 months.. omg I am happy to have returned.

Regarding Night Sweats. I used to have terrible night sweats.. drenching me .. never had them in the day time.

I suggest you have a check up if the sweats are drenching you. I turned out to have Lymphoma and now that I am in remission I have the usualy night hot flashes throwing off the covers then putting on the covers but no more night drenches. I sleep much better too. I read a book on how to sleep with hot flashes, I got a lighter weight blanket and sleep w/o clothing.. it works!

Writing things down is a great idea. Every time I think of it, I realize that for me to write something down, I would have to put on my glasses, the light and then write, but which time, I would be so awake that getting back to sleep would be tough. So I don't try it. If I am up and think of something I write it down--so I have all these little pieces of paper and lists all over!!

I have gotten up and written things down too, and it really does work when the main worry is forgetting something. Knowing that it is written down and that you will see it first thing in the morning helps my mind to stop realing. Lately, though, it's just the actual things I have to do that take up time. I stay up late and have to get up early. This is temporary, though. I usually sleep well--especially if I'm exercising regularly, which I hope to be doing again soon.

Sleep has been an issue for me for quite sometime, due to night sweats and/or hot flashes (not sure of the difference). I wake up every 1-2 hours, go through the hot flash, break out into a dripping sweat, throw all the covers off and then wait. It passes after a few minutes, then I am freezing because I am sweaty. Somtimes I just get up and change my clothes, but most of the time I am simply too exhausted, and just grab the covers and drift back off..then an hour or so later It happens again.

I would give anything for a solid 3-4 hours of sleep!

ZANBALL & all... I can't say that I am having trouble sleeping. I turned off the alarm this morning, rolled over & went back to sleep. I woke up late & was so grouchy I went to work & grouched on my boss--also my pastor. then we had a funeral at 2 pm to cap it all off. I just don't like this time change. I feel as if I lose an hour of sleep every night, not just the first night emoticon

Hope you're all better soon - is this sleep difficulty thing partly due to our age? I sometimes have trouble getting to sleep and wonder: is my mind keeping me awake or is my mind just staying occupied because I'm awake and laying there without anything else to do??? I never used to have this problem - only after hitting, oh around 47 or 48 or so. Before that I could fall asleep any time my head hit the pillow.

I've found that if I can't get to sleep because I keep thinking about stuff, I get up, have a warm glass of milk and write down all those things that keep buzzing around in my head. I find that what bothers me most is that I think of all these things and then worry that I'm going to forget to do something or forget some important thing I thought of or .... If I write everything down, I can usually calm my mind enough by the time I finish my drink with the "now you won't forget and think about that again in the morning".

Good Evening Girls!

We had big thunder boomers this afternoon/evening and I kind of enjoyed it. It's a nice change after all the snow we had this winter!

Annie - I too have fibro and sleep issues and totally understand. I had a sleep study last Tuesday to retitrate my bi-pap machine and it was just horrific trying to fall asleep. It was almost a comedy of errors but enough of that.

If you are ever up late and just can't sleep - sparkmail me - I'm prob. up too and would be more than happy to get on Facebook chat or AIM or something and keep your company!

Terri - Sorry your spring break is coming to an end :/ I hope you enjoyed it.

Have a good night all!

Press On!

I feel so bad for you who have chronic pain and /or sleep issues. I haven't been getting enough sleep, but I'm pretty sure it's just that I have so much to do lately and my mind keeps working on it. Even if I don't get to bed until midnight, I wake up between 5-6:00 thinking about all I have to do. When I'm caught up, I sleep better.

Last week was my Spring break from school, so tomorrow it's back to the grindstone~

I so sorry about your Fibromyalgia. I am not a good sleeper too, one reason I want to lose weight. I think it is the anti-breast cancer drug that has made it worse. But, I guess I would rather take it than have the chance of getting it back. The worst part is being sleepy all day and if you take a nap, you can't sleep again! It is great getting old!

Hello, everyone! Finally able to get back on - been so nice reading back to see what's happening with everyone!

Hey for the sleep issues - I have those occasionally too. I find that for me, a cup of hot herb tea before bed (I usually drink roasted dandelion root tea with lemon because it has no caffeine) works well. Tee hee, but I will readily admit that I also reach for an over the counter sleep aid when I know I HAVE TO get some rest for the next day. I don't do that unless I absolutely have to though.

I finished up my presentations and am now back to a normal work schedule so I can get back on here more often, thank the heavens! Whew - I came down with a major cold two days before getting on stage in front of 120 people for 3 days. Luckily, this old Cherokee medicine man (he's for REAL, this is not a joke!) gave me this herbal tea concoction thing and said to drink as much of it as I could stand in the next 48 hours. I was extremely skeptical but OMG it WORKED! I was right as rain by last Monday morning! I never would have believed it - I've NEVER gotten over a cold in so little time.

And, while traveling and working all these crazy hours, I was still really good about watching the eating and got on the treadmill as often as I could manage. So, the good news is that I've seen my goal weight on the scale for 3 days now. I'm not declaring victory until it's a solid two weeks. BUT, I'm so hopeful :) Then, it's get into maintenance mode, right?

Today the temperature went up into the 50's again and it was bright and sunny, so hubby and I put on our walking shoes and did 3.5 miles outside. It was wonderful!!

I empathize, Annie. I have always been a poor sleeper--no physical cause at least. Since I lost weight and have been getting a lot more exercise, I definitely sleep better, although I am still not a great sleeper. I hope that you are feeling better.

Good Mornin to you all. It's 5:44 AM here in Montana and I am still awake. Sometimes the wicked Fibromyalgia takes over and sleep just doesn't come. LOL Oh well. I'm making the best of it. Thought I'd see what's going on here this early in the morning. I'm almost never up this early, unless I haven't been to sleep yet that is.

So how are all of you this fine spring day?

I had that happen to me this morning also when I tried to log in my food. Very frustrating. Today was a good day. The weather here in MN is getting nicer. In fact we had a bit of light rain today. Much better than the snow we've had.

Sometimes that happens to me too, WAFINANCE. I usually click on another tab if I can see it. Otherwise, just close it and open another window. Let me know if you find another way. I don't know what causes that.

Suz, I love that!!!!! Absolutely, the most accurate explanation of the "plateau" that so many of us hit....

I would add one more--not add really, just clarify--too few calories can also cause the scale to stall...

I understand - I have been minimizing it then call it up. After reading your post, I tried another option - click on the very top, on the blue bar and drag it either to the right or down, so you can see what you have posted already and still see most of the "add food" window. (I am on a PC, not Mac)

Good morning all:

Does anyone know how, after you add one food, you can continue to log foods when the add covers everythng up? This is driving me crazy. I have to close the add food window and open it up again.

Thanks

Hi all, I have been on vacation in Texas visiting my mom (well also enjoying the sun and 70 degree weather!!!) It was so nice, it was really hard coming back to Chicago. I kept hoping I would get bumped from my flight. No such luck!!!

TCAT47, I have a dear, young friend who is in Tokyo and a teacher I worked with in Osaka. Thankfully we have heard from both and they are okay. We all need to pray for everyone involved in this tragedy! I have a friend and an aunt in California but thankfully neither is close to the coast!

It rained all day here today and I did not do much of anything. A bit of laundry , cooked supper, made a salad...drove to the feed store and grocery store..a slow slow day. Yesterday I worked on income tax till my eyes were sore and my head ached..it's done and in the mail..YES! No cardio as planned for today..I just don't like indoor cardio exercise ..I did do my strength exercises.
I am feeling good since I started eating sensibly and exercising a bit..it's amazing what a change healthy living can make!
The earthquake in Japan is awful, so sad. I watched some of the videos and it brought tears to my eyes.Wishing all the best possible for them.

The breakfast burritos sound yummy, emoticon you can send me the recipe. I will be going up and down the stairs a few times for my exercise. Hope you have a great week-end and spend some great quality time with the little one. I miss my little ones a lot. Bye for now emoticon

It's a lovely, crisp day here in N. Calif but I'm keeping a little granddaughter so I won't be able to go for a walk. I do have to go to the woodpile and restock the firewood for the house, so that will be a little bit of exercise.

Today I'm making breakfast burritos for the freezer. It is so helpful to be able to grab one or two for the day and go--and I can measure all the ingredients and enter them into the Recipe Calculator to get a fairly accurate calorie count for my tracker. I like to cook, but the more time I spend doing it, the more I nibble. These little burritos also encourage dh to take something for his breakfast instead of skipping it altogether, since he leaves @ 7 a.m. and doesn't like to eat that early.

Brrr--a short walk in the snow would be the equivalent of a long walk in the sun!

I had a lot of trouble sleeping last night because I got very sore, and I'm still a little sore this morning!

Workouts will continue to be indoors for me here in good old MI. Woke up this morning to 3 inches of new snow. I can't wait to be able to start walking outside again. Working, dinner with hubby and friends and than coming home to do several of my workout DVDs. Everyone have a AWESOME Friday!!!

By attempting something really difficult and outside of your comfort zone, you will discover how strong you really are.

I got to the gym this morning for the first time since Saturday due to my muscle pull, and it was hard! I took a little walk outside yesterday just to stretch my legs a little. It is so gorgeous out. Maybe I will get ambitious later, who knows?

This has been a very stressful week for me (not over yet) and I am just taking it chill today...

I hope we both get out for some fresh air tomorrow, Barb! I'm SO ready to get away from this desk and go for a walk! I'm beginning to feel so stiff when I get up and try to walk--I need to get moving again.

I finished my Spanish midterm today, turned in all the papers that were outstanding (from when I had to miss class for my stepmother's funeral), and one paper that was for extra credit (I need all I can get!). Next week is "Spring" break (since no one acknowledges Easter or Christmas in the school system... :-p) so I will have some time to do something other than study. I should do at least some, just to get better at it since I'm still not real confident with some of the verb tenses. I might even watch a movie with subtitles, just for fun~

It's beautiful here as well. I have been stuck in the house for various reasons all week so far, and I am looking forward to getting out tomorrow!

Another gorgeous day here today and I am starting it with a new set of goals in the Jump Start Challenge thread. I managed a weekend away with my mom's home cookin' and a family supper without a weight gain! Yay! So now I am ready to challenge myself a little more. I've posted my challenges and I'm ready to take them on!

Had a good day here in Sunny Arizona.. The weather was gorgeous sunny 70's outside.

Spent the day with little niece and took her to dance class.. watching a group 4 year old girls in front of a huge mirror is hilarious !

I stayed mindful of my eating, and kept my food journal.. staying on track is becoming a habit again.

Going to meditate and wind down for the evening.. emoticon
