BRATS, you make me smile everytime I see one of your posts.

For those who don't know, BRATS was one of the teams first members. Her enthusiasm and help are what helps make this team, what it is today. Love you BRATS--PJ

Brats, you are so talented. I would love to see pictures of your work. I would also like to be your neighbor, maybe you would make something for me, for a fee of course.

We picked up an inexpensive pack of unfinished frames from Ikea. My daughter 'stained' them with watercolor paint, hot glued them together in a collage, then mounted pictures of friends and a set of beach scenery notecards in the frames.

We found ours while out driving in the country, when we spotted the trees we drove about 1/2 mile back the lane to the man's home and asked. He told us we could only have one pick up load! We only got a gunny sack full.

I have seen hedge apples before, but didn't know what they were called. It has been years ago. I would like to have some to keep out the spiders but I hardly ever see any. I don't know where I would even find these now.

Remember frames can be painted or thinly wrapped with glue moistened strip of paper or material. Just remove the glass, go for it and fit glass back in while glue is moist. Also cording, can be attached to outside between glass and frame.--PJ

Last week we went out and gathered bittersweet and hedge apples for decorating. They both make very pretty fall decorations, I place the hedgeapples in a wooden bowl and placed it on a table. (these are also good to rid your home of spiders and other creepy crawlies) I gathered bunches of bittersweet and tied with twine to hang, once the berries dry and pop open they are beautiful.

All of the ideas were great, but I really loved the glass jar photo frame idea! I used to watch HGTV but got a little tired of it.

I'm not quite that handy, but I've done some things cheap that I'm especially proud of. I recently found a cross stitch project I did when I was 16 (30 years ago); my mother had given me one years ago; and my sister gave me one she did that she says wasn't finished--I couldn't tell. I also found some needlework my grandmother had done. Now to frame all of these...cheap. I bought a frame that already had a cheap picture in it, used ribbon for a mat, and framed one of them. I bought another frame at Michael's on clearance that already had a mat. I framed one in a Goodwill frame, and the last I framed in a Old Time Pottery (a cheap decorator store) frame. I was so happy with the look. None of the frames matched each other, but they all matched the item they were framing, and put on the wall together, they look lovely, and are a wonderful tribute to some really crafty ladies!

I like to repurpose things, and I love primitive/old
farm house, Old rakes (wooden or metal missing handles or not) make great wine glass holders or key holders. I use an old metal grain scoop for my rolling pin, wooded spoons, etc. My jar lifter would work great upside down opened on the counter to hold a bottle of wine. We use a lot of these ideas in my friend's shop.

We have a lady and her husband who create wonderful shelves from old headboards, doors, or whatever else they might encounter. Just use you imagination!

OK I just saw this on Real Simple - get a cardboard wine box (from the liquor store). Cover the exterior with nice paper set it on it's side and it makes awesome looking shoe storage.

While looking for some inexpensive decorating ideas, I stopped at Goodwill, picked up some baskets and planters, then went to the Dollar Tree for some green leafy plants and fall flowers and a bag of moss. For under $10 I had 5-6 decoration in no time.

I love to tile AND it's so easy to keep clean. Last year, we made a tile countertop and I love it. Very easy to do. Also, that's a great idea for the pics in the glasses. I'll remember that one once we move and i can put photos back out.

When I was dog sitting and looking for entertainment, I watched the HGTV station a lot. One tip I liked was taking glass jars and putting old photos in them. You can line them up on a mantle or shelf. It's a nice way to display photos without using frames.

It's the time of year that nature is really working with us. It's time to collect dried weeds, pods, branches, twigs, what ever.

A couple of cans of spray paint, can do wonders. Some small branches painted in a vase with a bow does wonders. Also, it's something kids can help with and further their creativity.--PJ

This takes patience, a yard stick, a marker and steady hand. To cut the expense of purchasing wall paper border, I make my own. Choose a roll of striped wallpaper with a repeat pattern. Choose the part you like best, mark repeat patterns and cut lengthwise.

It's time consuming, but you can really save money.--PJ
