Oops. I meant to say ASCORBIC ACID, not citric acid...

Could ahve changed but last summer when I ordered mine, Amazon had about the best price when you factored in free shipping. Do check though as several places sell them.

Laura I am glad to hear you love your excaliber. I have been recently looking for a dehydrator that's a good one. I think you may have just persuaded me to get the excaliber.

Yes, that's exactly what I have. I love it. Can't wait for garden season so we can get started. I'm out of camping soup mix (dried carrots, celery, leeks, cabbage, etc) and I want to make some of that asap.

Yeah! I made yogurt with mine too! It's great that it holds so much. When I made jerky, I had two entire roasts in there and I still had enough room on to have also done another roast. I got the big 9 tray model.
The temp control and timer are also a big PLUS!

I think tha's what I have too. I did a bunch of fruit last summer and it over dried it a bit. I need to work on the fine tuning but yes, it's great. After years of borrowing my stepdad's RONCO model, it's nice to have something that actually holds quantity. I also use it to make my own yogurt.

Yep. Me too. Dehydrator works great. What kind you have? I got an Excalibur. I LOVE it. Make banana chips and LIVE bread (flatbread made from carrots, celery, onions, raisins). It's YUMMY!

I haven't done turkey jerky but I make beef jerky (using flank steak) in my dehydrator all the time. It calls for worchestershire sauce and soy sauce for most of the ingredients. I used a recipe from Alton Brown but instead of using fans, I use my dehydrator.

Well, turkey jerky is already cleaner than beef jerky... I'm not sure how CLEAN any jerky is. It all uses a lot of salt. But, I like my beef jerky and it's a great protein snack.
Now, I make my own... but I would maybe look for jerky that has natural flavors, no chemicals, is naturally smoked and doesn't contain nitrates.
HA! Good Luck! emoticon
I guess that's why I make my own...

Are there "clean" versions of turkey jerky that I could find in a store? What about "string cheese"? If I find either of these, what ingredients should be in them, what am I looking for?
I was going to look for either of these to use as a snack, for snacks, but I wanted to make them 90% "clean" as well...
