Good evening, everyone! The boys are in bed and I'm taking a minute to read through your posts, so I truly have read them...just can't comment on them all. I'm too tired! No, Noel...I definitely am NOT the energizer bunny and never pretend to be! LOL! And, these boys prove it every time they come.

They were early to bed last night and again tonight. I think we wear them out sometimes. They helped Richard take their bunk beds apart so we could put both "down" instead of having one up and one down. Richard's cousins are coming to visit in Sept and a couple of them will have to sleep in those beds and I figured they wouldn't be interested in climbing the ladder to the top bunk. They loved going to PT with us this morning and really enjoyed checking out all the equipment, photos, displays, etc. One of the women basketball players came in for some pool therapy and their eyes really popped, as she is easily 6'4" or more!!

Tomorrow we're digging potatoes! I will try my best to remember to take a few photos and post later. The onions were nice and we've had some nice tomatoes, so I hope the potatoes are good since nothing else is this year! So sad, but that's the way things go sometimes.

I'm going to beg off commenting on your posts. I can't remember now what you said anyway! It was all important, though, I know that!!! I'll try to check in tomorrow a little earlier and see what you all are up to! Love you!! Jeannie

What am I going to do with all this snake talk. Watch it girls, you are scaring me and I will get afraid to leave my house. LOL. Karen, you really do lead an interesting life.

Theresa, I too loved that talk with Pine. If I didn't know better I would of thought that it was Jerry and I talking, (left brain, right brain, lol

Jill, hummmingbirds are so much fun to watch. We hae a bunch of them. They love my red and purple fusias. Show up eery day on the deck. I am proud of you for sticking up to your sisters.

Barb, I thought you were taking off this week. Hope you get everything done you have planned. Do we have a challenge comming up soon?

OK Francie, I have already used one of the zucchini recipes. It as for a Marinated Zucchini and Onion salad. We had it for dinner and it was very good. We picked our first green beans today and our first of the zucchini. Tomorrow it will need picked again. lol

I now have 8 big flats of blueberries to put in the freezer. 2 flats are for my DDs freezer. My freezer is getting full.

OK I am going to put my food in the tracker. Have a great evening.
Hugs, Gail

Hi!!

Karen, why didn't you send the snake to Barb? She knows how to charm them.
Joanna, nice to see you back and okay, I'm jealous. Holding hands, sigh. Sounds like you two should have stayed the night in a romantic Bed and Breakfast.
Jill, at least you can hold hands with Noah! Can anyone lend me a hand? I know you are under too much stress, but I think I would tell my sisters if they are coming to see me-fine/if they are coming to see my house, don't bother. I don't dislike your sisters, but I do dislike how they behave. Just like a bunch of snobs. Glad that you are on this team and not them.
Theresa, I love the drape story! I love Pyne! He is good with the excuses and knows exactly what buttons to push. My ex pulled something like that on me. I got tired of taking out the garbage when that was the only thing he did around the house. So I said the heck with it--I'll let it stack up till he gets the idea. Well, being a man, he acted like he never saw it. So, I come home from work and the bags are still there. I grab them and storm out the door to walk down the hallway and out the back door to the dumpster. I come back and the door was locked. I knocked. He had the chain guard on it, opened it the little crack and said "I'm sorry, little girl, I gave at the office" Seeing red, I raised my leg and kicked the door so hard that I broke the chain and really had to control myself not to kill him. He never saw me mad--but it never happened again. lol And I probably never have been able to lift my leg that high either.
I still have this thingy on my neck and it is driving me crazy! I'm allergic to band aids so no matter what kind I put over it, My neck gets all red and itchy. Going to try again to get a hold of my dr tomorrow. I want to make sure I'm treating it the right way. So wish me luck.
Gail, no, Barb and I are not going to get together to charm the snakes. I'm not the charmer-Barb is. Now I have to worry about her being a vampire. Boy, what that girl puts me through!
But I still love her--it's hard not to.
Come to think of it, I love you all. If I missed anyone, it wasn't on purpose. Have a great Friday! Oh, by the way, we had 9 minutes of rain today! WooHoo! Noel

OMG!!!! Just got back from a meeting--got a text while I was there with a picture. It was a SNAKE about 3 feet long and the drive up lane of the branch housing my office. The staff did some research and it is a Northern Water Snake, not poisonous but big and scary looking! We guess it may have falled out of the back of someone's truck--it looked like it was injured. True to form, my young male coworker friend (who has lost 157 pounds) scooped it up in a shovel and brought it to a remote part of our property.
Guess we aren't called River Valley Credit Union for nothing........lol.
Always something new here in the valley..

This time I was smart and took notes while I was ready the daily posts!
Jill--I like hummers too. They are just so cute and I wish I had even a tiny portion of their energy! Proud of you for standing up to your sisters and telling them you would rather visit with them someplace other than your home. I totally understand that--I hate to do housework as well!
Francis--sounds like a wonderful birthday bash! My DH and I did the slots, just once, and that was enough for me. We were in Gatineau, Quebec and had a bit of an issue with understanding what heck we were doing. We should have had Lise with us as she speaks French!
Joanna--I don't know. I think your husband was trying to get "lucky" in more ways than one!
Theresa--that was a really funny conversation with Pyne. Can't husbands be a trial sometimes? I don't like to cook and one day I made dinner, put it on the table and told my DH that dinner was ready. He sat down, looked at the food, PICKED UP THE PLATE and SMELLED the food and then asked, "I give up, what is it?" My reply: "Rat poison!" Grrrr.... I was so irritated!
Jeannie hope you are enjoying your time with the GS and your trips!
Barb and Noel, "Hi"!!!
Got rain here overnight and now it looks like there's a good sized storm brewing. I believe we are under a sever T-storm/tornado watch until about 9pm this evening.
May be exciting here, up country!
Hugs,
Karen

Goodness. My day is almost over. Today’s meeting was lengthy.

Started my morning with water exercises. No snakes. No fox. No racoons. Just me and 2 tiki torches. Ahhhh, heaven. Oh, there were some clouds too. They haven’t produced the much needed rain yet.

Kady’smom, congratulations on the weight loss.

Francie, what a lovely Positive Thought for the Day. Thanks for sharing it. Happy B-day tomorrow and enjoy your celebration with your DD and GS.

Wyndy, it’s OK to be vegging. I’m concerned though when you say ‘voiding life.’ I hope things improve in your world.

Hey, Noel, you’re posting and I was just snoozing away. Dreaming of ‘Art.’ I sleep in this thing that has a lid on it, nicely padded (like me). Art sleeps in the drawer underneath me. (Hehe)

Joanna, I agree. Sounds like a date to me. How sweet and how romantic. Enjoy your trip. Summer Camp now. You get to have all the fun.

Betsy, glad the diet is going well for you.

Theresa, I would have loved to have been a fly on your wall this morning. What a show!! It actually makes me think of some conversations between my mil and my fil. I’d grab a chair and watch/listen. I absolutely loved it. He’d walk away chuckling and she’d be so furious at him. I knew he did it to irritate her. Wonder why she didn’t get it. Loved them. Couldn’t stand their son!

Gail, I’m going to have to check out that Martha Stewart site too. Love recipes - especially if they’re recipes that don’t call for ridiculous ingredients, or tiny bits of something that will go bad if the whole can/bottle isn’t used.

Jill, I'm not going with my GFs until the fall. I am talking off 3 days next week - Wed-Fri. 'Just because' actually. I feel I need the time off. I have a few things I'd like to get done around the house that it's just too hard to do on weekends. I'm glad you made the decision not to worry about your home for your sisters' visit. There's no need for you to upset yourself any more than they've already upset you. I'm proud of you! Now maybe you'll be able to enjoy it at least a little bit.

Have to get back to work. Goodness. Almost 3 PM.

I'm excited as I just ordered an inexpensive Hummingbird Feeder from Amazon. I love watching these delicate birds as I sit in my patio. I hope they will get their nutritious drink from it and I even have a recipe how to fix the nectar for it. It doesn't take much to get me excited anymore--LOL! Now, Noel, no comment from the "Peanut Gallery". . .

I appreciate all of your caring support regarding my Sister's visit but I've decided I'm not going to be inviting them back to my house after lunch at Mimis and I've already told both of them why. I just can't get my house clean enough before Saturday so I told them I'd rather they not come back to my house. They both seemed okay with that so I hope they are. I do feel bad and sad about it but I'm not strong enough to take their criticism about my housekeeping skills right now. If it's cool enough maybe we could sit in a shady park for an hour or so but I know it will be a leisurely lunch as they don't seem to rush you out like some restaurants do.

Francie, You birthday celebrations sound like so much fun along with some healthy eating. I love omlets especially with cheese and lots of veggies. I used to think Chinese food was healthy but the way they make it for Americans with high calorie sauces, etc. usually isn't. Like you said drink plenty of water to help wash away some of the salt. Enjoy all your Birthday Celebrations and have fun birthday shopping.

Wow Gayle, What a fabulous win you had on the slots!! Quite a few years ago I won $2,500 on the slots and at the time it seemed like a fortune to me. Congrats on being down 2#s and I know it is hard to cut out all the white stuff as unfortunately I love all of them too.

Joanna, Your DH was in such a romantic wonderful mood. It's been many moons ago since I've even held a man's hand, other than my sweetie, Noah. When to you leave for your trip overseas? Are you traveling alone? Be safe and check in when you can.

Gail, I guess I should take the time to check out Martha Stewart's website. I never think of her as having low calorie recipes but maybe she does now. Is it another cool day there for you? Did you find lots of wonderful new recipes to try. I know you are a good cook and enjoy finding healthy recipes..

Theresa, I wouldn't have the nerve to send back my Sister that ad and for her it doesn't make much sense as she is already thin--lucky her. I do appreciate your humor and all your wonderful support.

Wyndy, I hope today is a much better day for you.

Jeannie, I know your busy having fun with your adorable GS. I hope it's cooler there today.

Barb, Is it this weekend your going away with your friends? That will be so much fun for you to get away so enjoy every minute of it! Plenty of laughs ahead with your friends.

Noel, what's up your "sleeve" today? Maybe you're still sleeping as you stay up until the wee hours of the morning you need to sleep in.

Enjoy your Day! Hi to anyone who I didn't mention but you know I care and love you all.

Happy Thursday...Just waiting on our Schwan Delivery guy, then we hope to run to one Nursing Home to visit my Aunt, and depending on time, we might go to visit mt friend Cecilia, up in hers. All depending on how I/we feel - the heat - and time.

Joanna, loved the date night with hubby. And those Casino Buffets are always expensive...because most of the people get them comped..If you use your points card enough, you can go to the desk, tell them you'd like to go to the Buffet and, if you've been playing for awhile, it is to their benefit to comp your meal, just to keep you in the Casino. So ask for a meal next time. emoticon

Barb, I'm with you and Jeannie...really seems like some of this fat should be melting off, in these high temperatures!

Kadysmom, Nice to see you...and nice 2 lb. loss too! emoticon

Noel..as to Pyne on cleaning, housework, -heh..Not so much! He does some now, but, only guided, like I have to instruct him (read :NAG) But I have figured out the real problem..it's his eyes...they're MALE..they lack the ability to really see mess. And guys are just programmed to live with more mess, dirt, than women are.
So we have conversations that go .."I want to take the drapes down, and wash them, can you climb up and unhook them?"
Pyne -"Why?"
Me:"because I don't want to climb up there" .
Pyne; 'But,you want to take them off the window?"
Me: ""Yes, off the rod"
Pyne: "Why take them down?"
Me:..(getting just a wee bit of attitude in my voice).."because I can't fit the whole damn window in the washer!"
Pyne.."OK, when did you want to do that?"
Me; (incredulity dripping off my words!).."uhm, I was thinking about NOW?!?"
Pyne.."Yeah, I'll take them down this weekend for you. But, they don't look dirty to me. Are you supposed to take them down and wash them?"
Me: "No, it should be the Downstairs Maid's job. I could wait for her, or the Cleaning Fairy."
Pyne: "OK, we'll try it on the weekend" And he's...SMILING!
Me: "Why wait..I've got the step stool here now?"
Pyne..."I just think we'll have more time on the weekend." and then the line that makes my blood boil..."I don't ever remember doing this before." ..as he saunters to the kitchen.
NO, YOU have never done this before...I have always done it!
Me: (now, hefting my bulk up the step stool, muttering to myself, anger and blood pressure racing each other to the limit, ripping the damn drapes off the rod - in 1 min., 28 seconds, another 20 seconds to pull the drapery pins out."Well there's TWO MINUTES we'll have this weekend!" "Hope we can fill them!"
Pyne..comes in.."Oh, I would have done that for you. Want me to throw them in the washer?"
Me: Helen Keller would be able to recognise the sarcasm dripping from my tone now..."No,because then when they're clean, we need to hang them BACK UP! and I can't go through this again!

Oh, Francie, Thanks for sharing the beautiful verse on Positive Thoughts. Hope you enjoy your Birthday Brunch and dinner with your daughter and friend.

Betsy, The Casino's are great for everything being under one roof. And it always is a lot of walking. We haven't been in years.

Wyndy...this weather is the perfect time to Veg Out..it's the smart thing to do.

Excuse the One Act Rant. Hope you are all smiling through the rest of your day! Theresa

If it's to be, It's up to ME!

My daughter & grandson are treating me to a birthday breakfast at Blue Coast Burrito Omelet Express. Lots fo healthy choices. You can create your own omelet. Make mine egg whites with lots of fresh veggies and mushrooms. emoticon . Hubby gave me $$ so I will probably go on a little shopping trip. I am going to buy a couple file cabinets for sure due to needing them to help organize my office room better. Getting them at flea market or second hand.
A good friend from church is treating me to lunch on Saturday. I think Chinese which I have not had in years so I will have to drown myself in lemon water to flush the sodium.

Girls, for the last 2 weeks, only fruit I have eaten is a small bowl of grapefruit (equal to about 2 cups), a cup of blueberries, half cup of fresh pineapple., I also eat a fresh raw tomato, a fresh half cucumber, and half a Vidalia onion every day. I really think those helped me in the 9lb loss. The grapefruit helped flush me out. I buy pink grapefruit segments in juice -no sugar added- in a half gallon jug!!! We have been buying fresh local blueberries. Sooooo good!!! Hubby planted 2 bushes this year. I hope both survive. One is doing well but one is growing slower. I want to have our own berries in a couple years. I put the berries in my low fat Greek Vanilla Yogurt and in my gluten free cereal. I make a salad out of the tomato, cucumber, and onion and use low fat mayo with just a tad of vinegar and a tsp Purevia sweetener for the dressing. I do a stir fry of frozen veggies & tofu. I eat baked tilapia sometimes. One snack a day is my Dark Chocolate Dreams peanut butter by Peanut Butter & Co on a few gluten free Blue Diamond Nut Thins.
If you have nvere tried the peanut butters by Peanut Butter & Co, you sure need to. I find them at Walmart. No high fructose corn syrup, no sugar. lower in calories and carbs.

Good Morning everyone,

Francie, I just checked out that Martha Stewart site. Thank you, I had never seen it and I loved all those zucchini and beet recipes. I made a shortcut on my desktop for that one.
So, I see you have a birthday tomorrow, what do you have planned for it?

Betsy. To pay off a new home and furniture must of been quite a jackpot. Congrats. I like to play the slots but don't like throwing my money away. I did go to a casino one time in Arizona to eat and on the way out I walked up to one machine and dropped in my 3 quarters worth and hit a big jackpot on the first pull. It was about 900.00 It took for ever for them to cash me out but I sat there patiently until I got my money. I grabbed it and we left. Loved it. We have played a few times in Vegas. I usually come out ahead but nothing big. DH on the other hand loses so he just plays his 20.00 and then he people watches which he loves to do.

Oh Joanna, how special for you. That was a nice romantic evening. I am so glad that you and DH had a nice evening. That would be fun and holding hands like lovebirds, we don't get that to much anymore at our age. For Jerry and I the bigger I got the more awkward it was to waddle and hold hands. lol but we still do sometimes.
We will miss you while you are gone. Please stay safe.

Noel, my dear sweetie, you are the life of the party but you are safe with us you know. We would ever call you names, well maybe we would but it would be sweet sister, our Noel. But please tell me that you and Barb are not going to go into snake charming together. Those poor snakes wouldn't stand a chance around you to. They would high tell it back to the Garden of Eden and beg for mercy! lol And I love Christmas. My favorite time of the year.

Jeannie, how fun for you to have your DGS with you. I hope they didn't get to hot upstairs. Did they have a fan on them? I don't think the heat bothers the young ones like it does us. I think as long as you might get to the Dakota border you might as well keep coming my way and have a nice cool down. We would love to show you and Richard around our lovely state.

Jill, I thought you would of already posted, I guess I will go and cbl
Hugs, Gail

Betsy you are a girl of my own heart. I love any kind of adventure that allows you to stay under one roof and enjoy multiple entertaining events. I am not sure you can call him a slot lover yet but he sure enjoyed it for the night. The hardest thing for me to give up also was my soda, but I have at least 97 % of it. Every once in a while I take the plunge and have a pepsi, but not often. I don't do deserts ...guess I don't really have a sweet tooth. Good luck with your diet I know you can do it with flying colors once it kicks in.

Boy did we get rain this morning. It was shaking rattling and rolling all over the place. I peeked out as it got day light and I saw two loose horses in my back yard. Got the hubby up to run out there and put them away. Guess the storm spooked them and they went through a fence.

I haven’t been to Canada in over 20 years and just today my hubby ask me to take a ride with him. We ended up in downtown Detroit and decided to cross the bridge to Canada. Good thing we both carry the passport card so we don’t need the passport booklet. Anyway we drove around a while and ended up on the river front and he decided to stop and go into Caesars Palace. I was a little shocked but didn’t say anything about it but cool. We dropped the car at the valet parking and went inside. Believe it or not this is the first time in all my years married to him that we are in a casino together. I didn’t ask him why I just went with the flow. I thought he was going to come up with some profound reason and I decided to wait to see what it might be.

I ask him if he ever played the slot machines he replied just at the CLUB HOUSE (Motor Cycle). I told him why don’t he try….so I talked him into going to the desk and get a Points Card…..he spun the wheel and it gave him 10.00 free slot play. We put another 20 American into the change machine for 19.80 in Canadian funds. Three 5$ and the rest in coin 4 gold dollars 80C in silver or whatever.

We went to the lower level and ate at the Buffet which was not cheap….60$ plus tax for the two of us. What I didn’t like was the line we waited through to get in. It took a good 30 minutes standing around. We did however have a great meal…and enjoyed each other’s company. On the way back up on the escalator he grabbed my hand and held hands with me all the way up and while we walked around. I found that very cute and endearing. We don’t hold hands that much these days in fact I can’t recall the last time we actually walked around holding hands.

Back on the upper level we sat and I watched while he lost all his money at the slot machines. He would go up a few bucks and then down a few more. We left the hotel got our car back from valet and went back over the border and he never said a word about why he went there or how we ended up there. I did notice he had a smile on his face the whole ride home. Wonders never cease around here I think he took me on a date. I will have to run that by him another day he is sound asleep hopefully dreaming of our night out on the town……hehehe.

I am listening to a thunderstorm coming in….the crops are in need of it so I am not complaining but the humidity is so high right now. I have the air conditioner on so I hope we don’t lose electricity tonight during the storm. If we do it will be unbearable. We are all ready for the kids to start coming in on Saturday for August Camp. I don’t know if I mentioned it but I got called to an appointment this coming week and have to leave the country. So I will not be here for horse camp this coming week. Sunday I leave overseas for the UAE…United Arab Emirates. As soon as I get back we have two back to back horseshows to do with the grandkids. Busy time this month and then it will be time for school to start back. Where has it gone, time flies these days. It’s not fair that life goes by so fast when you are enjoying it.

Good Thursday Morning!! - 5 months from today and it's Christmas (snow, cold weather, ice, wind blowing, aawwwwwww) I bet that sounds good to everyone except Gail.

Francie, What a beautiful Positive Thought and that it was. It really said a lot. Now girl, I'm so proud of you!! Nine pounds!! I'm doing (I think ) a jig for you. Either that or I have to go potty. Either way, it's because of the excitement of your loss. Just Wonderful!!

CJ, always nice to see you post. How are you doing with your family? Any new pics of Corbin that we don't know about? Have a great relaxing Thursday!

Jeannie, I hope you are having a great time with the GS's. I am going to ask you this in private--everyone close their eyes for a minute--okay, Jeannie, what the heck are you on?? Are you like the little energizer bunny that keeps going and going and going?? Are you on drugs? If so, I want some. Come on, confess! Okay, you can all open your eyes.

Gail, 64 degrees? Are you sure? And you are running around in a sweater? I had a room full of people in sweaters tonight at bingo. I guess the air conditioner was just a little too cool.
Not for me--I am always hot. Yes, I did see Chubsey Wubsey in the mirror. He was always the one Little Rascal that I felt sorry for because he was a big little boy. Just think how times have changed--nobody every laughed at him or harassed him--it's not like today. Seriously, I don't mind picking on myself-I see what I am as everyone sees me. Better for me to say something first before anyone else can. I didn't say that CW was ugly or unattractive or anything like that--just that he's a tiny bit overweight. lol You are so sweet! (hugs)

Barb, don't tell me that you're not a charmer. Maybe not with snakes, but you've been charming us ever since we've known you! Now I'm not real sure about the vampire thing, though. I have to give that some thought. Exactly does the place where you sleep look like? Does it have a lid? I know Art sleeps under it. Does he by any chance come alive at night? Just asking.

Theresa, I know it has to be nice to be spoiled by having breakfast in bed, but you know, hon, I wouldn't have wanted this habit to start the way yours had to. You've been through so much-you deserve breakfast in bed and so much more. What else can he do--clean, wash windows, run the vacuum..If he can and is willing, just lay on back and watch him. lol

So, Jill, was the step-sister down on her hands and knees scrubbing the floor today? lol I'm sure it wouldn't matter to them if the floors shined or not. They will still have something to say.
Just wait until you become Cinderella and get the handsome prince. Boy, will they be jealous!
Hang in there honey. Don't wear you heart on your sleeve--it will be over soon.

Gayle, good girl!! Two pounds down!! I hope you didn't send them to me. lol I'll give you a couple of ladies names that you can send them to :) How have you been doing healthwise? Trying to get out a little more? Is your temp really hot also or is it cool enough to take a little walk everyday. Sometimes the fresh air is just good for the soul.

Well my precious gems, I am going to let you go until tomorrow. Hopefully, most of you are sleeping by now and having some great dreams! Love you all, Noel

I wanted to share this from Positive Thoughts for Today:

There is always light for us to access: I wish you light in your darkest hours. When life seems to be confusing or empty, and when your path seems to be hidden in the shadows of pain, doubt, despair, or unrest, may you find the light inside of you that will help you to see things as they truly are, for every night comes to an end, every storm runs its course, and light and peace always return to us.

I wish you the power of a perspective that allows you to see the beauty of the darkness, no matter how threatening your current situation, or how uneasy you may feel. There always is light for us to access, whether it be the light of God or the light of a close friend, or even the light within ourselves that is the power and the strength with which we've all been blessed to one extent or another.

I wish you the ability to develop the light that is within you, to strengthen your spiritual faith, to help your faith in yourself to grow and thrive. You have the gift of self-sufficiency, and the possibility of growing into a person who is strong and able. But may you not grow too strong, though, so that you reject the help and love and caring of others who wish to be there for you. Balance your strength with your needs and the needs of others to be helpful and to show their caring.

Thought I'd stop by for a minute before turning the lights out. The GSs are in bed but I still hear them whispering...probably hard for them to go to sleep as it is pretty hot upstairs here in this old house. The downstairs stays real cool, but not up here.

Karen, I don't track the night before, but I do tend to do it fairly early in the day for the whole day. I think it is a fine idea to do it the day before it is helpful to you. Whatever it takes to make it work for us is what we need to do, I think. Like you I find that if I have it recorded it seems easier for me to stick to it. Also gives me an idea of how many calories I might have to snack on! LOL!

Theresa, I've never had breakfast in bed. I'd be afraid I'd spill something I think. Actually, I'd probably pass out and not be able to get up if Richard showed up with food for me while I was in bed. He just learned how to make coffee a few weeks ago and that's because he never drank it until a few months ago. Pyne sounds like a real sweetheart, but I guess we already knew that, didn't we??

Gayle, congrats on getting your computer functional again! I hate to be without mine!

Barb, I just don't understand why our fat isn't melting either! You'd think with all this glowing we've been doing that we'd have a few ounces of real fat dripping away! It's been so miserable...hopefully the next few days will give us a bit of respite.

Good night all! Will see you in the morning. Time for some reading and then it's lights out! Hugs and love, Jeannie

Too bad my fat cells can’t just melt! This would be the perfect summer to have that happen. I believe the heat index is 113.

Been busy and decided I’d better take a short break and check in with my Sparkie Friends.

Gail, thanks for posting Tisha’s recipe. Sounds delicious and simple actually. I’ll have to do what Jeannie suggested though and freeze part of it. There are lots of ‘triggers’ in my life.

Jeannie, your trip sounds like fun. Seeing good friends and getting away is always great. Enjoy yourselves. So glad Richard did so well and is up for a trip. Enjoy your grandsons.

Oh, Noel. You are beyond a doubt one of the funniest ladies I know. Sure. I’m a real snake charmer. I wouldn’t touch one for anything. It’s my paranoia that has me checking. I’ve ‘seen’ a snake in the yard a few times. This heat would have them out sunning themselves, but they really shouldn’t be out there when I go out - in the dark. If I saw one, I’d probably trip over lawn chairs, picnic table and anything else in my way. Shoot. I’d probably trip over the fox too! I have been assured they’re ‘harmless.’ I don’t care. They crawl on the ground and ‘slither hither to and fro’ which means - I don’t like them.

Francie, I’m doing the Happy Dance with you. Terrific news!! You’re ‘light on your feet’ as you do that Happy Dance.

CJ, hello to you too. Hope you’re enjoying your ‘travels,’ as it’s so much fun to get away. Haven’t heard about Corbin lately. I take it that’s ‘good news’ and that he’s growing and growing.

Jill, I was in the pool last night but didn’t make it this morning. I miss it too. I’m not nearly as ‘perky’ (Ha! Me - Perky Babs - Me thinks not) as when I get out there when it’s still dark. I guess the peacefulness gives me energy. Most people get energy from the sun. Shoot. Maybe I’m a vampire! Hope your visit with your sisters is a good one.

Karen, I have this vision of you swiffing your dashboard. It’s a ‘pleasant vision.’ Yes, been busy here too and absolutely no one steps up to the plate for me. Actually it’s something I should try. I like your idea of tracking the night before. Brilliant!

Theresa, I'm happy to see you posting and sounding chipper. It is a good deal if Pyne fixes your 'breakfast in bed.' Good for you. I haven't had grapefruit in ages. I go through spells where I like it, and sometimes it's just not my thing. It's good for me. I should get some again. Your post made me think of it.

I have to get back to work. More tomorrow.

Happy Wednesday Y'All,

Just wanted to pop in, say Hi, and catch-up on all your posts! We are one chatty bunch!
Yes, I know I am spoiled. When we first married, I got up at 4:45 too, and went down and made coffee and breakfast for him,and then for the girls. That lasted about 20 yrs. LOL! Then I just sleep till 6:00 when I had to get up, but Pyne was leaving for work then, so HE would leave me a sectioned grapefruit half everyday, and he'd turn on the coffee maker.
Then we both dropped the grapefruit, due to medicine restrictions. After '05..I stopped teaching, then, was in a rehab place for 4 months after a fall...with multiple medical complications...so I spent the next 6 months in a specialized wound care bed, in our middle bedroom...and that was the beginning of my breakfast in bed delivery...only it was just coffee. Somehow, since Pyne retired , Oct 2010, he has upped it to some kind of simple breakfast. So good deal for me! And I'm not complaining!

Francie nice loss! Kudos! And glad the Buick is humming along happy with it's new motor....
Hmm...wonder if I could get a new motor...not for our Buick - for ME!

Jill, Next time a Sister send you something like that do like I did...I just sent her a note back saying" gee, haven't seen you in awhile and I didn't realize you had this problem...or an interest in losing weight. But, this sounds like it might work for you, let me know how you do on it. Good Luck!"

Jeanne-on-the-road again! Sounds like a fun trip. Make sure Richard doesn't over tax his shoulder driving. Enjoy!
That is what Pyne and I envisioned for our retirement years...and yet here we sit..with dog..Dr. visits..Aches and Pains..etc.

Aaag..brain stall...can't remember what I wanted to comment on! Over an hour ago, I started this, I answered a phone call, picked up in the living room a bit, prepped some veggies for dinner, now I remembered this was still open...and have no clue about all your interesting post, that needed my witty repartee' - "A mind is a terrible thing to lose!" ha- so enjoy your day. emoticon emoticon 's Theresa

Karen, hi I think that tracking you food the night before is the same as me doing a weeks menu. I tend to follow it more and not go astray if it has already been planned. No thinking about what I am going to eat and it works for me. So it is not strange. Like your idea about how you use your swiffer.

Good Morning,

Oh, Jeannie, that is way to hot for me. I think you should just come on over to my house. We hit 64 yesterday or maybe that was the day before and today we will make it to the low 70s.I have worn a sweater for 2 days trying to keep warm.
It sounds like a really fun week visiting winter Texans and Arizona winter people. I am sure there will be lots of laughter. And after trying to keep up with your GS's you will need it. LOL

Jill, Jeannie is right, we are your family and that is what counts. I hope it does go better than you are expecting, How is your weather doing? I saw your question but I was never one to try things like that.

Francie, wow, that was quite a loss!!! you get to give 9 goodies away. I think that will be the biggest loss this week, this month, maybe even this year. LOL I am so happy for you and hopefully the stress is getting better. How is your hubby doing?

CJ, I always love seeing you post. It just doesn't seem right around here without hearing from you. How hot is it there?

Noel, what is this mirror thing and Chubsey Wubsey? Did I hear you call our dear Noel a name like that? I thought you were playing nice. That means to you too. So take your glasses back off and say I am sorry Noel. Look in the mirror and what do you see now, well I can tell you a beautiful lady inside and out with all of us behind her cheering her on........Now behave yourself and put those glasses back on, I don't want you falling over something and getting hurt. It would be all my fault.
I know nothing about cameras, can't see well enough to work them. Thats why I can't get my new pictures from camping downloaded to the computer, can't see and don't know how. But I am sure one of my kids will be over again before I die to help me. They just better! Maybe I should plan a feast, they usually come for food. LOL

So where is everyone this morning? I have done my exercise, I have baked my spaghetti squash in the microwave and now it is cooling. I am making an Italian Turkey spaghetti squash pie for dinner. It is so good with speghetti sauce, ricotta cheese and the squash forms the pie crust. A WW recipe so is low in calories. Like a Lasagna.
Well, there is no new news in my world.

Have a great rest of the day and a big Hi to all of you that might follow me.
Hugs, Gail

Forgot to tell you this. I know it is goofy, but I keep a swiffer in my CAR. Everytime I get gas, while I am waiting for the tank to be filled I swiff my dashboard!
Now........really back to work this time.

Just realized I didn't even chat yesterday! Wow.........
As usual, the daily chat doesn't automatically update, I swear it's after 24 hours.
Anyway, hello to everyone. It is an absolutely beautiful day in Vermont. Nice and cool, low humidity. Haven't had a day like this for a long time.
Yesterday afternoon and this morning I was on the road dealing with personnel issues. Just when I think I have seen it all, something new and "wonderful" comes up! haha
I am doing ok staying on my eating plan so far. Just like the last time, I have found that if I track a whole day the night before, I tend to stick to what I said I was going to have. I know, it's a bit strange, but apparently I don't like to have to think on the spur of the moment about a healthy food choice. I can't trust myself to do the right thing. But...if I have it already logged, I tend to do what is written maybe because I have given myself permission not to think? Who knows........
Got to get back to work. Like Barb, I post when I can from work. No one watches me, or keeps track of my time when I am doing something personal, but the fact remains that I have one heck of a stressful job and lots of work to do which doesn't get done if I am on SP chatting with my friends!
I had best get back to it!
Hugs

Good morning! I have half my exercise done, so my reward for that is writing a note to you all. I'll finish the rest before lunch. Don't have a lot on the agenda today...supposedly to get to 106 during the day, so we won't be spending any time outdoors. We're meeting our DS this evening after they get off work and we'll have them through Saturday, so I'm resting up! LOL! Hoping to put them to work picking up potatoes as Richard digs them sometime while they're here.

Francie, what an awesome surprise! Good for you. Glad it is coming back off for you! emoticon emoticon

CJ, nice to hear from you this morning, too. I think if it is 106 here it must be 120 in OK!!! You're always hotter than we are. I'm getting so weary of all the heat. I've come to believe it is worse than the cold in the winter!!

Jill, sending you lots of strong backbone vibes for your sisters' visit! I know they'll be surprised at how strong you've been getting. Regardless, we're your real sisters now and you'll always have our love and a home with us!

I answered your question of the day, Jill. Yes...have been there with some of the weight loss ads and ideas over the years. I'm glad I'm where it really counts now...with SP and all of you! emoticon

We're having leftover casserole for lunch and planning a stop at McDonald's with the boys this evening. I always get a side salad (best thing on the menu) and a hamburger and easily stay within my calories. They'll be starved since we'll be picking them up at 5:45, right in the middle of dinner time. Tomorrow they'll go with us to Richard's PT session, which actually should be kind of fun for them. The University has a Sports Medicine clinic which is where Richard is going and that's where the Iowa Hawkeyes sports teams go for their treatment and therapy. Since that's the team they get excited about, they can look at the photos and memorabilia, etc. The oldest one at 9 is all eyes and ears and will soak up all the info about the therapy, too.

Have a great "hump" day and start thinking about your plans for the weekend? Healthy plans and choices? YES! emoticon

Love and hugs and sending you all lots of strength!! Jeannie emoticon emoticon emoticon

Wow, Francie, I'd also be doing the Happy Dance if I lost that much weight in 2 weeks! Congrats and keep doing what you've been doing as it's working well for you! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Jeannie, Here I thought you and Richard would be going to a Beach Area to relax and instead you've planned a whirlwind trip. It actually sounds very tiring to me. Maybe have a day or two at least where you can stay in one place and relax, take a swim in the pool, etc. Noah could care less about seeing my Sisters as they are complete strangers to him. They didn't even come to his last birthday party just said they lived too far away which is ridiculous.

Noel, All I can say is I relate really well to the Cinderella Story--LOL! My house may be messy but I don't qualify to be on the Hoarders Show, thank goodness. I've never watched that show but I've heard some of the houses you see are unbelievable. I am really sorry about your Bingo friend.

Gail, Thank you so much for putting in the Blueberry Bread Recipe. Although I don't trust myself now the time will come, I hope, where I can bake something and not overeat it. And NO I'm not making or baking anything for my "sweet" sisters. Knowing them they wouldn't eat a bite of it anyway as they're always watching their figures and they both have very trim bodies.

Barb, I need to use my good old swiffer today but I'm feeling lazy and not nearly as motivated as yesterday. Maybe I'll tackle my large bathroom today as that will take a few good hard hours. Did you have a chance to water walk this morning or last night? Does your GD enjoy doing that with you? I hope you didn't meet any new little critters in your pool--LOL!

I just posted a new Question asking about any gimmicks or gadgets you might have tried to lose weight in the past. I've probably bought dozens of them in my Life as was hoping there was something "magic" to help me lose the pounds quickly. The only magic I've found is consistently making good healthy choices. Eating Less and Moving More is the answer for me.

CJ, We posted at the same time but just wanted to thank you for your support and wise words. As Jeannie has said it's too bad we can't hand pick our relatives--LOL!

this morning!!! I forgot to weigh in for the 22nd so weighed in this morning. TADA- LOSS 9lbs!!! I weighed in 3 different times just to make sure my scale wasn't crazy !!! I had gone back and looked on my chart to make sure I had recorded last few weigh-ins correctly. I know I had built up some fluid due to my lupus flare and then all the stress I have been under. I got rid of fluid and some of the stress!!! I'm still 7 lbs above where I was 3 months ago but, it WILL HAPPEN!!!! YIPPEE!!! emoticon I CAN DO IT!!!!

Y'all have a WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY!!!

Actually, Noel...now that I read that it is making me tired, too. I might have to re-think that plan! lol!!

Re: cameras...not sure what you mean by not overly expensive, but most of them are really pretty good these days. i have one of the cheaper Sony's (actually a hand-me-down from DD). I think you'd do fine with almost any of them. We probably each have a particular one we like b/c that's what we have.

Still warm, still glowing and still tired here. Off to bed and a little rest! Night all!! jeannie

Hi Everyone!

Jeannie, I am so tired after reading what you are going to do next week--I need a good nap! Seriously, I envy you! I just wish I was a traveler. It is not the thing for me, never has been. I can handle short trips, but to be going someplace different every day, whew!
Francie, nice to see you back on line. You have some smart GS. I hope Bill will start to feel better. You had my foot tapping to your Zippety diddy!
I didn't have enough of my Gail fix today. I'm glad you said hello, but you weren't on long enough.
My dearest Barb, I looked in the mirror and I saw a 40 some year old lady--oh, I know, I didn't have my glasses on. So I put them on, and Chubsey Wubsey appeared. lol I don't know what my nose has to do with it.lol And I love you too, even though you are the early morning snake chaser. What do you do when you catch them? Do you put them in a basket, then play a flute (?) and they stand up and dance? I'm just asking, because it seems that you know how to do everything else. lol
Jill, I am assuming you are feeling better today. I sure hope so. You know, you are starting to remind me of Cinderalla and her evil step sisters. All will be fine. If they are not happy with you or how your house looks, don't worry--we are your family and we would love you even if you house looked like one of those homes on "Hoarders". :)
A little about my day--I spent hours on line today looking to see if I could find anything on this "bite" thingy on my neck. I know what it's not. Then I spent time looking for a nice, not overly expensive digital camera. Any ideas from any of you? I was thinking of a Nikon, but now I don't know.
First thing morning, I got a call from one of my friends in my apt. building telling me that a very close friend of hers died. He is also one of my bingo people. He was a very kind, caring, 75 year old gentleman. What a shame! So then I had to call some people and had a mess of people calling me. It's been an exhausting day!
So, I hope I didn't mess too many people because I love all of you and you all know it.
Please take care and I'll stop by tomorrow. Noel

I guess I probably didn't say what we're planning. There are some folks we haven't seen for awhile and if we don't make an effort now it will probably be at least another year before we manage. Saturday we're headed to central Iowa to spend the afternoon and night with one of my nursing friends, Sunday we're meeting our SIL (she was married to Richard's brother who died at a very young age in 1981) for a visit with her and her significant other who has had health problems. Monday it is on to Ames (about an hour from Des Moines) to visit with some Texas/camping friends and another nursing school friend. Tuesday it is on to a little town further north in Iowa and a visit with another camping/Arizona friend. We'll be there at least one night, maybe two. Then it is up in the air...some older friends from Texas winters live in North Dakota (right on the SD/ND line) and if they're up for a visit we may drive up there to see them...about 8 hours up and back, but we'll stay over somewhere. If that doesn't work, we have plan B in our (my) mind, but will wait to see. So, it's not really sightseeing, but it is people-seeing and a break from the garden and work around here. Saturday to Saturday, more or less! LOL--all depends! jeannie

Hi everyone, just letting you know I was here and read the posts but Jerry is frantically waiting for me. We have a busy day of things to do and it is already after noon.

Barbara, I posted Tisha's recipe for you in our healthy recipes.

Francie, so nice to see you posting,

I will try and get back when we get home if I am not to tired.

Hugs, Gail

Jeannie, our last one like this in Arkansas was summer of 1980. We had 6 weeks of 100+ temps and no rain!! Really hurt everyone that year.

Good Tuesday afternoon! So nice to see all of you again today! I got called to fill in for someone at the museum, so I trundled off down there this morning. We had a few visitors, one of whome spent almost $250 in the gift shop, which is always music to our ears! Home for lunch, a little Sparking now and then I have to do my exerising. I'm breaking my own personal rule of not Sparking until I have at least half done, but I wanted to stop by and say hi.

Barb, you are so right that it is so much fun to spend time with like-minded friends, and it does sound like you always have a good time when you manage to get away. You mentioned about your scale weighing 5# higher. I used to have one that I had to adjust 8# so it would coordinate with the one at the drs. office. The one i have now seems to be pretty accurate, but sometimes I think it is just luck. Well, it's the one I always use, so it is close enough for me for now. How is the morning pool work going?

Francie, you've been busy, but so wonderful that you had your grandsons here for a visit and that your family could celebrate your Mom's birthday. Glad to hear your car is running well again, too. I hear you on the heat and dry weather! The only thing still alive in our garden are the tomatoes and we have to water religiously. Most people who are old enough to remember are comparing this summer to 1936, which has a horrible drought year with so many weeks of over 100 temps. I hope it breaks soon.

Oh, Jill...here we go with the cleaning again. If it's not you, it's me!! I love my swiffer, too. Makes things so much easier. You're not baking for them, are you? Not if you're going to lunch, I think. Anyway, we'll be waiting to hear how things go for you. Did Noah say he wanted to see those ladies? Maybe he doesn't want to. LOL!! I used to hate seeing some of my "old lady aunts" when I was a kid...they were typical and always wanted to pinch my cheeks.

I'm going to post a recipe that I tried last night in the recipe thread. I'm afraid it uses the oven so anyone in the heat belt probably won't be interested in it right now, but it was good and Richard liked it, so I'll be making it again when it gets cooler.

Time to get a few things done, including some exercise. Hello to all our dear friends who haven't checked in today or for awhile. We miss you! Noel, we always miss you...what do you mean, you're glad someone does...that's ALL of us! Hugs and love, Jeannie

Didn't realize I still had this website open!! I've had numerous interruptions since posting. Work. Work. Work!! But I have a hair cut today too at noon. I'm smiling. emoticon

Francie, you're a MO girl!! We're 'neighbors.' I'm talking about the Ozarks, Osage Beach. Love it there! Branson's really cool too. Haven't been there in years. Congratulations on your GS - I don't blame you for being proud. Harry Potter is tough reading. Math. Oh, yuck. I do not like it. I've had plenty of it, but that doesn't mean I like it. So glad you posted. You've been missed.

Jill, you aren't overly sensitive. I would be hurt too. The Swiffer is a gift from above. No doubt about it. I love mine too. Don't overwork yourself. It isn't worth it. Hugs to you.

Now I'd better work for real.

I, as usual, woke up at the crack of Dawn and it already felt warm in my house, ugh. But, I decided if my Sisters are coming I need to start cleaning the house, NOW! I don't want to give them anything more to complain about regarding me and definitely they would tell me your house is a mess--LOL. They are both outspoken and don't seem to care that some of their comments are hurting. I cleaned my kitchen and part of the bathroom. Tomorrow I will look forward to cleaning my living room/dining room floors. Thank you God for helping someone invent the Swiffer--I think they are a great invention.

Today is a new day I have just about forgotten my Sister forwarding me that hurting e-mail. I guess I am too sensitive about my weight especially since they're both thin. Karen, I loved your reply about my sending them an ad for gaining weight--LOL! I'd do it but honestly probably neither one would speak to me again. Thank you for your caring support and I'm over it and ready for a great day.

Francie, It's really great you chatting as we've missed you. Your GSs all sound very smart--I guess the apple doesn't fall very far from the tree--LOL! I'm so glad your car is up and running good. I hope your DH continues to feel better and improve--also your sweet GS.

Noel, I LOL more than once at your chat post. You started my day laughing out loud and dear friend you have a gift for making others laugh at themselves in a kind way.

Jeannie, It will be wonderful having your GSs for a few days and I know you're looking forward to getting away also. I hope where your going is cooler as your temps there are way too hot.

Gail, Noel is right you just might have to buy a second pair of pants (slacks) as you can't only have one that fits you right or you might be tempted to put your old big size pants on and we know what could happen--LOL.

Theresa, Pyne sure treats you like a queen--how wonderful he is and you make a perfect couple both so caring of each other.

Lois, Thank you for sharing about Dr. Oz and I've read the same thing. So, I no longer buy fat free or low fat food. I also love you and I appreciate your making me feel better.

Barb, Find any snakes this morning in your pool? Have you ever found one there? If you're like most of the Country we're in a drought so animals are attracted to any water they can find. Be cautious sweet friend.

I should have taken notes as my memory doesn't serve me well right now and I can't remember everyone but just know I love you all.

Jill, I’m so sorry about your sisters. I understand problems within families. I know exists. I never experienced it myself until several years ago when there were problems between my DD and DS. Too much to go into, and this isn’t about me and my problems. But I’m just letting you know that I do understand and I’m so very sorry. You should be praised and appreciated for who you are - a very loving, giving, kind, beautiful person. AND in case they forgot - Noah’s grandmother. We all love you, Jill. I think you’re a beautiful person.

Silver, the Yonana sounds pretty good to me.

Karen, I hope all is well with your employee/friend. 156#. It hasn’t been that long since he went on this ‘diet.’ That’s an awful lot of weight to lose in a very short amount of time. Seems like it was the fall or something.

Gail, oatmeal blueberry banana bread - sounds yummy. I’ll have to snoop around and find that recipe. Must be on Tisha’s Spark Page.

Lois, you know what. We’re thankful for you too. Your posts always give me ideas on healthy eating/cooking. I love it. I’m not creative in the kitchen, not as a rule anyway. Congrats on your weight loss. WooHoo to you! I agree with you on the LF issue/labels. I’ve bought them myself. I don’t know why. Dr. Agatston also says use the real butter. Learn about the good fats, etc.

Jeannie, you’re off on another adventure; huh? Enjoy. Relax. I want to find that recipe and make some bread too. Sounds delicious. Like your idea of putting some in the freezer. I will need to do that too. I have lots of ‘trigger foods.’

Noel, in your 40 years??? Oh, honey! You do know about Pinocchio; don't you?

emoticon Please go look in the mirror. You might be surprised at what you see. Have I told you lately that I love you? I sure do.

On my new scale there's a 5# difference in my weight. Not in my favor either. I don't know which one is the closest to accurate. The new one is in a different room. it's a different scale. Who knows what's the closest to 'real.' I'll have to figure out adjustments because I am not adding 5# to my current weight. I honestly don't think that's accurate either. I have lost. I see it and most of all - I feel it. My clothes feel better, looser. I'll mess with the 2 scales tonight and come up with a plan. I was exhausted last night. Part of it's the heat. Part of it's Mondays.

My friend called yesterday to see if I want to go to the lake for our 'girls' weekend' even though I'm going on a trip in November. I replied: You bet I do! We have the best times on those weekends. So relaxing. So much fun just the 3 of us laughing, talking, going to the musical, drinking a little wine. I'm definitely not a drinker at all. They like their wine. If I have a glass, that will be about it for me. I'm not a shopper like them either. We will go to the outlet mall in the Ozarks. But it's fun to people watch and I might find some things to put up for Christmas. That's my plan. Hey, maybe I'll need a whole new wardrobe by then! Maybe my pants will fall down like Gail's. Ya think??? emoticon

Francie, Sue, Pattie, Nola, Tisha . . . how are things with you?
