I always feel a little melancholic when summer ends, but I do love the fall - absolutely everything about it. When I got home from work a bit ago, I walked around the yard and celebrated all the changes. The grass is covered with beautiful red leaves; the goats and sheep are loving the cooler weather - even the chickens are out and about and enjoying themselves. The remnants of the garden reminds me of what we gained this summer and the pumpkins and gourds are already decorating our porch. It is so good!

Fall has certainly arrived here. The nights and days are much chillier. The sun doesn't shine quite as much and the leaves are falling rapidly with the windy. Still, it's a wonderful season and I am so glad it is here! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

It's been very COLD and very WET here today, but I DID get out in the rain and got my groceries bought for the weekend. I was never so glad to get into a warm home and put on warm, dry clothes. :) Mind you, the good part is, it was rain, not snow!!!!!! yaaaaaaaaa

Oh, it's just freezing here this week. And I'm a little glum thinking of the long winter to come--I walk almost everywhere and the cold just gets into my bones.

On the bright side, there's a number of indoor activities I wouldn't mind trying, but I didn't want to do them during a season when I could be outside. Now I can explore them whenever I get bored with the exercise routine: ice skating, squash, Wii Fit (my gym has one!).

I'm Sue, and I won't let fear hold me back.

You are most welcome.

One I would NOT recommend for this Team is FLYLADY and another one is called ORGANIZED HOME, I think. They have all kinds of print outs, pages to fil out, put in binders, write in and keep track of...very overwhelming. So I hope you find what you are looking for. And, if you ever can't find something specifically, post it to the group and we will see if we can help you!

If you want ideas on how to clear clutter without having to get rid of all those prized possessions, go to HGTV.ca or BHG.com and see what kinds of things they show. I get their emails and I have learned much in a little time and also learned it does not cost a fortune to do like on the TV programs. Best wishes.

Sheri, I agree with your statement on clutter and stress. When my house or a room is cluttered I feel as if I have no control. I feel so much better when everything is picked up. My DH is a pack rat and it often becomes a real issue. He is getting better, but it still causes stress for me. Of course, he is wonderful in other areas!

autumn is also the time we start cleaning out the clutter and getting comfortable inside, which is wonderful for our stress level. The less clutter and dirt in our homes, the better we will feel emotionally.

Autumn is definitely my favorite time of the year. There are still warm days, but the nights are cooler. Those chillier days can be 'warmed' with a campfire or a leisurely drive to see all the beautiful fall foliage. I love the fruits (apples, pears, etc.). Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday as all my children come home with their families. This gives them the opportunity to spend Christmas with the 'other side' which is fine with me. I like to do a fall cleaning and the house looks as good as new. I enjoy raking leaves, cleaning out the flower beds and readying everything for winter. It's all good.

I want to take photographs of the fall leaves and use them to decorate my spark page. I think that would be fun. And maybe make some greeting cards if I can. It would make a good excuse to take some adventurous walks and get my pedometer going. I don't like the tiny print on the directions but maybe if I take an hour aside I can figure it all out. That would be nice. Then I could go off my usual route and still measure it all. It will make leaf picking and photography much more enjoyable because then it will go on my challenges and fitness minutes easier. OMG: I am turning into a SP addict!!!

I like summer because I feel I cut myself a little more slack during the warmer months.

I'll be more adventurous, try new things outside, plan ways to get away - while the rest of the year I seem to just sit tight and wait for the summer to do all that again.

But I try to carry this on into the fall months as well. I do like the cooler weather (the humidity was brutal this year) and the breezes. It's probably more comfortable outside during the fall but I'm still in school mode (how many years later!) that only summer is for play. I gotta get that out of my head!

I love the fall air. It is just the right temperature for me. I enjoy the crisper air and this summer was nice for me because it wasn't too hot. I don't like it above 78 degrees. That is about hot enough. And around here the rain just blew in and out so the rain wasn't such a bother. I thought that was kind of fun. I thought of the rain showers as surprises that just came in bursts and then the sun was sure to follow. The leaves were sure green and that was a treat.

I am just going to have a short vent about this end of summer for me. And preface it by the storms around here have been intermittent and kind of enjoyable by me. Though, now..... My girlfriend and her fiance' are getting married on the 19th and, yikes, I am in a tailspin...spending money on wedding plans, taking time for wedding projects and using energy I don't have for someone who is acting very rude and entitled at the time being now for weeks. I am finding myself becoming sarcastic inside and wanting the whole darn thing to be over with before I get more responsibilities heaped on me. The one thing they have done is bought me a dress which to say is not a bridesmaid dress and I am not the matron of honor who by the way is not in favor of the wedding but whom I have persuaded to keep the peace for everyone's sake and not ruin my girlfriend's wedding. I am angry at the behaviors I am encountering. The matron of honor did not want to put on a bridal shower because it is Kathy's third wedding but Kathy asked me to convince her. So, now I ended up rounding up a small shower. But, I got sick with my cysts and spasms and then had finally enlisted help from another one of her friends at long last who now is asking me to take the wedding photographs after I have already made the invitations, and started the shower and got that rolling, and bought all that I needed to accompany this fancy dress which I wouldn't have worn if I had not gotten, and then dealt with the matron of honor, printed out invitations and planned the shower, and dealt with crabby parties involved in that. Now, I am being asked to do the photos too? I am ready to throw in the towel. And, by the way, my official gift is the bridal bouquet which I was going to make because I used to be a florist until she told me what she wanted which no matter how I could think for months on end I could not get in my head it looking decent any way shape or form and could not make myself responsible for that and contacted a florist to do it and absolve myself of that pain which was a relief and in the same breath bought a kindly boutineer for the groom. Which to that result I was asked when announced was do the matron of honor and best man get flowers, too, which was never part of the deal! And totally disrespectful and with not an ounce of gratitude or thank you very much. I could cry because this is my friend. I don't know which I am more, disappointed or angry or if it is equal. She has become the epitomy of BRIDEZILLA!!! I have not received a single word of thanks or compliment that was unsolicited. I suppose I should just be happy to do it for a friend. But, by now, it has cost me a lot of money, time, and has damaged our friendship immensely. This wedding will be a blessing when over with. I feel dragged through the mud and wish I were less codependent and more assertive and better able to stand up to her bossyness. Which today I did with the flower response. So, that, after two weeks solid of illness, is the crashing end to my lovely, and it was lovely, summer.

Summer is my busy season at work, so I'm mighty happy to see the work load lightening up a bit. The last few autumns I've taught a college class, in addition to my day job, but I'm happy to say I'm not doing that this year.

Instead, I'm focusing on another (hopefully less stressful!) project and planning to focus on handling my stress more productively.

I'm Sue, and I won't let fear hold me back.

Summer (and late spring and early fall) is my favorite season, because I hate the cold and it always adds stress. Being out in the sun is always better for feeling positive (at least for me), and being able to relax and let go. I really enjoyed this summer and I am hoping the next seasons to come will be good as well, despite them being a bit harder to handle.

i have to get back in the routine. my best friends mom died and so i made a flying trip to asheville. on the way we found out that the friends daughter went into labor so went from the funeral home to the bed side of the daughter and then when the baby was born went back to the funeral. of course with all the stress and time on the road, i ate, ate, ate and the only exercise i got was running into fast food places so we could get from one end of the country to the other.ugh. so mon i go to the groc and get in plenty of fresh veggies and hit the stove. pray for me. i also have to get back to walking after 6 days in a car. haha i soooo love to walk. bummer

I have really enjoyed my summer but as it comes to an end I feel my stress level increasing. Some family situations have erupted, although many more have been absolutely wonderful. I will be heading back to work and the end of the last school year was intensely stressful. For the first time ever I am not looking forward to the beginning of the school year. I am not sleeping well and nothing seems to work. With all that being said, I am eating well but I do need to up my exercise. I really would love another month of summer vacation to get more of my summer 'to do' list finished.

I normally love summer, but this one has been the wettest one I have ever seen in my 40 years. In fact, it's raining now and ANOTHER storm is expected Saturday afternoon. This is going to be a strange thing for me to say, but I'm looking forward to SNOW because at least we can go out in snow!!!!! And I HATE snow! Everything is so wet. We have not had a summer, only rain and storms...and about 10 nice days total. ugh

How is everybody doing so far? Summer holidays are nearly over. Do you think that will help you? Most people do better when they have a schedule to follow. What do you think will be more beneficial to you: no more lying around on the lazy hazy days of summer, getting back to seeing your friends and co-workers, a regular schedule etc.?
