I seem to be getting ahead, too slowly for me. I must learn patience, a hard word for me. Got some exercises off this team and also DVD's that I purchased.

On days when baby steps seem too big, I crawl. Exercise continues to be my achilles heel but I plug along. Would love to find that chair dance DVD.

Give me a sense of humor, Lord,

Give me the grace to see a joke,

To get some humor out of life,

And pass it on to other folk!

Well Emmabe, you are certainly a motivating kind of lady, which is exactly what I need. I just pray that the videos will work for me. Old computer, not enough steam to watch a whole video without constant screen freeze.
I'll give it a try. :-)

Very definately!!
I started trying some of the SP things - and found they gave me real pain!! That bought me up short. Then a friend (in SP ) suggested Chair Exercise - and I started with 1 exercise, but kept going - determined to lose the weight - and gradually I got to a whole 20 min DVD - then I tried a bit of Chair Dance - and made it through warm up!! Again slowly - ever so slowly I increased to doing a full DVD!!
BUT what really kept me going, as well as a slow weight loss was the inches loss - and now 16mths from rthat firast tentative step into exercise - I am down from size 34 to size 24 jeans, and have just graduated from Chair exercise to Curves (though its only a semi-graduation - Chair Exercise every day - Curves 3 times a week)
But more - I am stronger, have more stamina, am pain free, am off tablets for diabetes and it goes on - those are the factors that keep one motivated!!

I say- motivated - you notice - I STILL do not LIKE exercise - but its like medicine - it has to be done to keep healthy!!

Just introduce it slowly and let your body tell you when to stop - but gradually increase the amount you do and do it consistantly!!

Everyone smiles in the same language.

Hi LKEEPERDEB!

Yes, exercise has been hard getting into. I joined a local J which has awesome facilities. Finally, last week I started a swim class for people with arthritic problems. It is on M, W, and F mornings. I love it. Now, a plan to use a treadmill for 10 minutes a day on days I don't go to swim class. I've decided little steps are best for me. Once, I get hooked, I will add 10 more minutes.
Best wishes to you. I am far from having a steadfast routine, but I'm trying.

Start with just 10 minutes of exercise using one of AnnBurnell's videos. Commit to 3, 4, 5 days a week if you are fearful of the enormity of "always" gotta do this. emoticon Time to get off your a$$etts and make the weight start dropping more.

Hi all,

I haven't been a member too long, but I wanted to ask you to remember back to when you first joined. You religiously posted every single morsel or sip that entered your mouth. It became another item for your "list of things to do today."
Well, I've been working so hard on the nutrition part, because my pie graph does not come back as well-matched slices of pie, it leans more heavily on carbs and fats than it should.

So, while I'm working on getting my diet where I need it to be, it's time to enter a new part of this world...exercising.
Was it hard for you to actually get started? Once you do that first 15 minutes a day, you are hereby committing to do it everyday from then on.

I'm just having a wee bit of a lazy bone that just keeps saying, "tomorrow's another day."

::: running now to avoid all the pillows that are going to be tossed at me for not getting off my a$$ yet.:::::

:-) Debbie
