Thought I might not make it in today - my youngest GD had a stomach virus and had to stay with me today however her mother got off early - so all worked out ok
The funny - well I don't know if it is funny - but Bella threw up today too -
Naturally on my bedding - so it is now in the laundry - Hopefully she was just having sympathy pains for my GD
Well it is nearly dinner time so will try to check in later - if I get a chance - GD's are here !

Good Wednesday Peeps! Ever notice how our language continues to incorporate terms and phrases from the younger generations or technology of the day? I'm old enough to have avoided such change, but young enough in spirit to embrace them and enjoy it. My DGD says that for an 'old' person I'm pretty cool. I like that. Newest phrase I've learned: technology immigrant - older person not naturally comfortable with computers; technology native - younger (especially kids) people who have been raised with a computer as part of their lives or who have the ability to get things out of and into the computer the immigrant can't.

Hi Tracy - I can just see that kitty closing his eyes and facing your 'torture' head on. Of course I can hear his yell of objection too. Ever notice the boys (human or otherwise) head straight on into trouble while the girls circle around it and slip in unnoticed? My 'thought' for the day. LOL Our DGD is a fine young lady in part because of the quality of the man in her life - my DH!

My dad lived in NJ until 5 years ago when he etired and moved to Boynton Beach Fl... his joints appreciate it, lol MY daughter misses him because we lived together and he was her father figure.. she is the good kid she is today because my dad knows how to raise kids.

I did lots of laundry today and chilled with the kitties-- when it rains they freak out.. the boy kept jumping on the dining room tqable and I kept squirting him-- he would close his eyes when I aimed the bottle at him.. or he would yell at me, lol

Good Morning All. I've been busy the last few days getting my husband back to school and haven't been here a lot. He started yesterday and the students start tomorrow. He is home today but is going in anyway to get his room and desk ready.

Sometimes I think it is harder getting him ready for school then it was to get the kids ready. HAHAHA

Sounds like you are all doing pretty good. Read the blog and it was wonderful.

Ann - thanks for calling our attention to the blog by Cynthia. Definitely inspiring for this 'disabled' grandma. Words of wisdom like these, combined with the videos you so generously share with us, help us to recognize capabilities and achieve exercise when we thought it was a thing of the past. Me? Today I challenge myself to overcome disability and feel the 'joy of the journey' with you and Cynthia.

Teresa - Nice of you to water the neighbor's plants. She'll surely be delighted to return to find them healthy and 'perky'. Don't forget our 10 minutes of exercise challenge. We're on our way. Day 2.

Tracy - that cool sounds like something from our winters. Of course SE Texas isn't notorious for low temps, although last winter we were challenged in an unusual display of weather only seen once in 30 years or so. How neat to have a friend who is so supportive. Amazing how fun it is to find kindred spirits online. Sure you Dad has enjoyed his time with you too. Where does he live?

Nola - enjoy your day of activity. Hope you can indeed get some sleep at the sleep lab tonight so they can give you a diagnosis and improved sleep going forward. Good for you keeping the exercise going today. Ann posted a new video yesterday and I'll be using it to do my exercise today. Let's go with day 2 of our streak!

Don't exactly know what is on my agenda today
I know I plan on going next door to water my neighbors plants
They are on vacation and Erin watered the heck out of her plants before they left - but it has been so hot I noticed yesterday some of her plants are looking sad
She will be unhappy if they die while she is gone
They are a younger couple with 1 little girl - still young enough to hesitate to ask for help when they are gone - She has worked so hard trying to create their little home - so I am just going to do it for them !
I need to work on my yard some however it depends on how hot it gets this morning - my niece says it is suppose to be cooler today - we will see

School is definitely back in - we live across the street from the back side of the high school - so kids are everywhere
Bella is not to thrilled with them - she sits on the back of the sofa to look out the window so she can bark at them if they get within 50 foot of her yard
needless to say I have to keep getting up and going in there with my water bottle to squirt her
I can't simply lower the blinds as thy are wooden blinds and she chews on the slats if they are down

Hey wonder if I could use all the up and down for exercise minutes LOL

Hello everyone we are everyone is doing great. I won't be on much today I have to clean house walk the dogs do 15 minute WATP DVD and the window guy is coming. I'm going to tier myself out so I can sleep at the sleep lab tonight. can't sleep at home but they think you can there lol all the wires and cameras. so have a great day.

It was a chilly damp 67 degrees tonigth when I came into work... has fall arrived?

I am still reeling over being -82.2 pounds and I still can not believe it.. I hope to continue my releases as I have so far to go and I am feeling so very good abotu myself.

My friend Jane (in my new profile pic) came from Pa to see me today.. she is the one I got my two kitties from... I met her online at classmates.com and we hit it off.. we have met up about 5 times so far and she is awesome! She always encourages me even when I don't take any weight off.

MY dad will be going home in a week and it has been a great visit..it will be hard to say "see you later" when it comes his time to go..

RIGHT!!!

Everyone is doing awesome and good. I rode my stationary bike for 10 minutes again today...:-) Also accomplished a personal goal that is set for 3 times a week. I'm up and running with this and life change and challenge and don't want to look back... WE CAN DO THIS!!!! RIGHT?

Hi Nola! This is the place to be for support and encouragement to get back on track NOW! Today is a new day and a new week. Don't put it off any longer. Do your BEST and don't worry about anything else. If you use the Nutrition Tracker you'll find it gives you an added incentive to stay within range. I try to put my food in as soon as I know what I'm eating. That way I can stay focused on my calories and carbs, etc. As for the exercise, I'll begin with you. Let's make a commitment to do 10 minutes of exercise every day this week. Its not a great deal, but it is extra movement and does burn calories. Let me know if you're in.

Thanks well I have been off track for 3 months do to having a lot of pain in my right shoulder I may need to have it replace it's ate up with arthetic can't spell it but i think you know i have it in every joint. i need to learn to spell it. lol anyway i just need to get back on track. and having friend to talk to is very helpful. i was doing great on my walking got up to 30 minutes a day now i'm luck if i can walk 10. i haVE TO START ALL OVER I gained 5 pounds but still have 55 done. so i'm here to get that off and loss 160 more.

Quite tired but will post tomorrow...back to work tomorrow night!

Hi Dawn! Good to see you. Congrats on the weight loss this week. A good sign that your 'mixing it up' is a good thing. What kind of food plan have you changed to? I'd like to try something different and see if that helps me. Where do you find alternative food plans? Actually, not having quite such expectations can make for a more enjoyable life. Many years ago I strove for perfection and finally realized humans aren't perfect. So now I do my best - most of the tiem LOL - and am happier. I can just see you leaned back in the van 'recliner' waiting for the girls from school. How nice you can get some reading in. Makes waiting enjoyable. Have the lovely week you deserve, my friend. Greetings Team Family: It's been a long & busy week but a good one. I lost 3 pounds this week. That's a happy thing. I've added some new strength exercises, been busy teaching my water aerobic classes, and been working on my chair yoga.

The grand-daughters returned to school this week and that has been a new adventure. Meeting their bus is interesting because I have to sit in the van at the end of their road. Their road is very steep uphill, so sitting there waiting I feel like I am sitting back in a rocket ship waiting for blast off! I've been getting some reading done while I wait. They love their new teachers and school. Life is good with them. Kaydon lives with me in the "city" so he doesn't return to school until the Wednesday after Labor day.

It's been very rainy this week. Great for the plants & earth but not so good for my deep water aerobic classes. We didn't get to do two of our regularly scheduled classes so we did a make up one on Friday in the indoor pool. It was FUN & it works out really well. We had a great time. Can't wait to move in on a permanent basis!

This week should be a little bit less chaotic since the girls will be more settled about school & I know better what time to meet the bus etc. I have decided to work on a more realistic schedule for myself. I am not going to push myself as hard as I have been. No one needs to try to be perfect all the time.

I'm trying a new food plan for the next 6 weeks. Last week was the first week and while not perfect, I did well. The lost 3 pounds shows that something is working. Everyone kept telling me to "mix-it-up" so I have been doing that both with my schedule, my workouts, and my food.

Happy Day! Oh happy day! Refocusing on goals! What a grand idea...and past due for this lady. lol Amazing how we find 'excuses' to avoid things we really don't want to do. I drink too much coffee in the morning...too much caffeine and too many calories from my creamer. Lunch of peanut butter sandwich every day increases fats in a way I'd be better off decreasing. Pasta for supper without meassuring the portion easily throws me off on carbs. Bottome line...vicki NEEDS to get with the program NOW. Thanks Cynthia for the thought provoking 'blog'. Maybe this will be my week!

Teresa - swimming by moonlight sounds too cool, if not just a bit spooky. I'd be expecting vampires to jump out of the shrubbery in that darkness. lol I know the girls will enjoy starting school. Its so nice when they are still excited by that. Seems the older they get the less 'cool' it is to enjoy. Funny 'cause I know many who enjoy it but won't admit to it. Thanks for the reminder about MaryAnn. I try to send a couple of goodies during their 'special' time.

Ann - yummo. Your meatloaf and lunch sounds like a perfect meal. If only DH would cook some of the recipes I give him from SP. Now he's trying to get in shape too so maybe he'll be more receptive. Glad you found some time to post with this thread. Been missing you.

Cynthia - glad to see you over here. This is surely the place to find exercise alternatives with your physical limitations. Additionally, the endorphins from this exercise may help alleviate some of your pain and discomfort. One never knows. Be sure and check out AnnBurnell's blogs. Her exercise programs are great for those of us with limitation. She is one awesome lady who has made a wonderful commitment to seniors and the disabled.

Well we did end up swimming last night -
our pool light is out thus we were swimming by moonlight - it was kind of weird -
the water was warm and jokingly I told my niece - gosh I should have brought out a bar of soap as this feels like bath water - she laughed and said - yeah or like a sauna
We got in some good laps though and it apparently helped relax my niece as she is still asleep this morning - which is good as she has trouble sleeping sometimes!

Well today is suppose to be a low keyed day for everyone as School starts tomorrow
All 3 of the girls are excited about it - so that is a Blessing for sure !
Well my coffee cup is empty - need to do something about that LO

You THOUGHT you could escape me here at this site, but no, I FOUND you and I'm going to join in! haha.

I seriously need to get back on the train headed toward my goals. I've kind of strolled along the tracks...getting nowhere fast...time to get serious again. I've allowed this stupid brace and those stupid hip dislocations to side line me for too long. I've used them as excuses to eat whatever I felt like because I got discouraged about my enforced lack of exercise, rather than getting MORE serious about my eating, because it is the one thing I CAN control!!! I also need to look into and participate in any kind of exercise I CAN do, which will involve some research and effort, but there's no excuse not to do it.

I can't say that my increased pain level is an excuse not to , because in all likelihood, my lack of activity has augmented that, not alleviated it. I need to get this body moving. It will be challenging because there are so MANY motions that are verboten with this hip being all ready and willing to pop out of place once more...plus I'm scared of that. If it happens one more time, I'll have to repeat the replacement surgery and be back at square one! and I DON'T want that to happen! But I can't let that fear paralyze me either.

Maybe all this "self-talk" would be more appropriate on a blog than here...but once I got started it was hard to stop! haha.

Emmabe (Ann), that meatloaf recipe sounds great! could you Sparkmail it to me? does it have meat in it; or is it vegetarian? I haven't had meatloaf in maybe 21 years (ie: since I got married) because my husband thinks he hates it. Of course he probably never even had a decent one in his life, so how would he KNOW??? But I know him and he won't try it once he sets his mind against it. However, I could make a small one for myself and it's his loss. they are always good warmed up too. or on a sandwich.

that's a great analogy about teenagers and jello. I have a teenaged daughter and know exactly what you mean. I might add an image to the simile and say that it's like "nailing jello to a tree in a thunderstorm"... At least that's how it feels around here.

I will be looking at the list of chair exercise videos you mailed to me Ann. It's on my "to do list" for tomorrow (today)...It's 4:30 AM so Sunday still feels like tomorrow.

Actually, now it's 6:15, because I got interrupted by two different conversations while I was writing this. It's about time for me to get into the shower so I'm ready to go to church on time. Have a great morning, all!

Lunchtime Sunday here - had a busy morning making a Kangaroo meatloaf - full of carrot, celery, mushrooms, wheetgerm, oatbran etc and then made carrot cake muffins - full of oats, wholemeal flour, pineapple, sultanas, grated carrot, honey. Yumm!!
Had meatloaf for lunch with green veg, and strawberries!!
Did the Stretch DVD from Stronger Seniors Stretch and strength
Next 5 days I'll be doing aerobics in the mornings as well as the core strength DVD.
Take care - and sleep well - it will be Sunday when you wake up, and I'll be going to bed!!

Hi everybody! Pleasant dreams.

Sorry I have been MIA today however it has been a whirlwind of a day
Had to go to Lubbock with niece(found out last night)to her DR appt
had to pick up last minute school supplies
Got back in town - had to go to the country and feed the girls(3 huge labs - one vanilla, one hershy colored(her name is Hershe) Tee-Hee and one Black )
Then back into town to Wal mart for ours Dogs food
Then rush to SIL's house for a family dinner - there was 12 of us there tonight
It was excellent - stuffed bell peppers, mashed potatoes, baked squash, creamed corn, green salad, friut salad, and dinner rolls
My SIL thinks she is still cooking for all those working men that use to be around LOL( mainly my Dad and Brother)
The kids- all 5 of them swam in her little pool in the backyard - they had a blast!
Anyway just got home at 8:20pm - it is nearly bed time for me LOL and my niece is wanting to go swim after she gets Olivia in bed - Don't know if that wll happen LOL

The weekend is upon us. Teresa you'd best stay inside away from the little blood suckers. Too many bites can actually make you sick, and then of course there are the 'dangerous' mosquitos that carry diseases. Be careful and take care of you.

School starts Monday and everywhere parents are celebrating the return of their homes and lives to times of quiet and peace during the day. As for supplies forgotten, there is plenty of time in the first week to get what is needed. We usually have additional items the teachers want too. Bought school supplies to the tune of over $100 and learned today that the school has them in packages for 1/2 that price. Aarrrrrgh

I have been out trimming trees/bushes and mercy the mesquito's have eaten my legs alive - huge whelps on my legs - They sure seem to enjoy my blood LOL

Well it is Friday and I don't know where I put my motivation - need to be getting things ready for the week end especially as thisis the last week end before school and I am sure we haveforgotten something fo those girls - so it will be a mad rush to the store - I am sure LOL

Good Morning Ladies!!
Had a great time last night on the cruise around Flathead Lake with my company. Good food that I could eat, great company and even greater conversation.

Today I'm so tired I could spend the whole day in bed so I think I will get busy and workout and then see how I feel.

Just want to leave you with something to think about---Raising teenagers is like nailing jelly to a tree!
