I had this same problem. You NEED to get checked for polyps in your lining or on your cervix. I had multiple. Once found and removed, it is not a big deal but if you don't, use can loose too much iron and such. If you need to know more, let me know.

I agree that months of heavy unexplained bleeding does definitely require a doctor's evaluation, however, on the herbal side of things, Lady's Mantle is a more appropriate herb to take to regulate heavy menstruation. It is also important to make sure your iron levels are sufficient as anemia makes bleeding worse - it's a catch 22 situation. Vitamins C & K are also important for clotting. In your situation, I would be supplementing with Vitamins C & K (K is found in dairy, meat and eggs) and taking an iron supplement in the short term. Long term, having your levels checked is a good idea, as you shouldn't take supplements that you don't need.

I reiterate that you do need to see someone and have the cause of the bleeding identified. Personally, I would make sure that you change your circumstances to enable you to visit a Dr within 2 weeks if you are still bleeding at that point.

I would visit a doctor as soon as you can. I had something like this happen to me but it was spotting all the time in between periods. I was told my lining wasn't shedding like the should with the periods I thought I was having. It was as simple as taking provera to bring on a real period. It sounds like you may need BCP for a few months to get the bleeding under control. I tried Vitex while I was waiting to get into a gyn and it only made me bleed more.

Hi, everyone. I was diagnosed with PCOS over 10 years ago and have been on and off various treatments for it. Now I am trying to get my weight under control, to help the PCOS and generally to live a healthier life.

My problem has been heavy and persistent bleeding for months at a stretch. I am strong, but it begins to run my body down after a while and hampers my ability to exercise as much as I would like.

I don't know how to get it to stop. Doctors and medication are not an option right now. I just started taking the herb Vitex, in an attempt to see if it can help regulate my cycle.

Has anyone else experienced this problem, and what, if anything, has worked for you? Thanks in advance.
