There are plenty of natural things you can do to increase your insulin sensitivity and balance your hormones if you don't want to go with pharmaceuticals. Regular exercise and a low carbohydrate/low GI diet have been found to be more effective in treating PCOS than metformin anyway, and they don't have side effects!

I have a website with loads of PCOS info www.mypcos.info Please stop by!

I went on Clomid years ago but had a bad reaction with it a got visual disturbances. I still get them no from time to time. I have been told by the doctor that it is a form of migraine caused by my hormones changing. Also I have taken metiformin but felt sick all the time. I've now given up with the medication. I don't trust it to be honest.

Sorry I don't remember what days I took it on but I had to go the Metformin/Serophene route and we have a healthy, happy 2 1/2 year old toddler to show for it.

I say trust your doctors and do as they tell you. I had a pretty scary pregnancy (positive nuchal translucency, amniocentesis, gestational diabetes, my advanced age increased the possibility of stillbirth, you get the picture) but we did everything we were told and things turned out alright.

Hope things go more smoothly for you. Hang in there.

I have read several posts where some were having problems with the side effects of metformin. I can tell you that I hung in there and after a month, I am finally over the worst of the symptoms! emoticon I will start the Clomid at the end of the week My new doctor told me to take it on days 9-13 instead of 5-9 since my cycle is longer. Has anyone else taken it that late and had success?
