We have a block picnic, and I put out a bunch of American flags along my walk. The people across the street lost a son in Iraq a few years ago, so we don't want to do too much celebrating. Honoring fallen veterans in general is different from honoring the pain of their survivors.

I say a prayer for the surviving families of all the service people we have lost. Having been through it ourselves I know the support is needed. emoticon emoticon

My family is scattered this year so my DH and I will spend a quiet day together.

If you are celebrating Memorial Day, what traditions do you follow?

This year, it has a whole new meaning since I lost Chuck this past January. I am not going to the cemetery as the urn is here in my house. I have some roses next to it He loved his roses!

Sweet raspberries are the ultimate.
But usually great strawberries are a close runner-up... and are easier to find!

I don't know how I missed yesterday.

Debt and overweight probably go hand in hand because similar attitudes cause both.

I only have a flower garden. We aren't allowed to grow food in our community.

Our garden is organic. My husband composts from early spring and far into the fall. (We live in Michigan.) We have 3 garden areas in our yard. There is still plenty of grass left for the dog though! LOL emoticon

We grow lots of veggies. Romaine, leaf lettuce, bok choy, tomatoes. eggplant, cucumbers, zucchini, onions, garlic, carrots, radishes....the list goes on. I also dry the herbs we don't use fresh.

There is nothing like a big salad made fresh from the garden! emoticon

How "organic" is your garden or lawn?

I don't use any chemicals or synthetic fertilizers
I try organic methods first, but turn to conventional means if they don't work
I use both organic and conventional methods
I use conventional fertilizers and pesticides--they work!
What is organic gardening?

I do have my lawn sprayed--not exactly organic!
My flowers this year are VERY organic--no need for
fertilizers or even water! ( they're artificial! emoticon )

Yes!

ABSOLUTELY!!

Debt and stress walk hand in hand together.
Stress impacts health.
Add a health problem or genetic inclination to stress and poor health worsens.

When one is in debt, he/she cannot afford the health care that prevents worsening of conditions... and thus sometimes brings about preventable lifetime disabilty.... and/or death.
So Yes. Debt affects one's health. Dramatically at times.

Do you believe that debt affects one's health?

Yes, Debt-free people are probably healthier
No, I don't think debt and health are connected

For me....yes because that can create stress and too much stress can cause health problems.

My setbacks are usually because I can't move enough (pain flares), so I just take t in stride.
The guiding thought that weaves throughout all I do in this journey:
Consistently persist on a solid plan patiently, get back on track *if I slip... and keep on going.
