It's playing in the movie theatre here now. Haven't read the book but my husband wants to see the movie.

Getting cooler here too hopefully it stays like this for a while, summer was awful.

FROST - so pretty - so cold

I might have to get that book since I love NYC and maybe it would recognize a few places - I miss it - Growing up in Jersey, many people would take the bus or train to the city for work each morning -I remember the very picturesque train station with all the men in their suits and briefcases - not many women heading out on the train -

DOLLYBABE, I read and liked Girl on a Train. In fact, one of my book groups chose it for discussion. The movie should be good, but too bad they changed the setting to America. I thought the London setting was perfect.

We had some beautiful weather but have reverted the past week to the miserable triple digits. It hit 101 yesterday, supposed to do it again today. I have been fairly lucky that my house has stayed somewhat confortable.

Babajean, you mentioned that you like mysteries--which are my favorites. My favorite author is Jonathan Kellerman. I like his wife's books, too but they are more like cozies as far as I am concerned. Some other authors to check out might be Michael Connolly, Craig Johnson, Harlan Coban, Louise Penny, Sophie Littlefield.

Oooohhhh - I would love to hear your suggestions for mysteries - I find that I tend to "know" way before the end and keep looking for some that really keep me going -

getting cooler by me - Has been a very strange summer - some terribly hot and miserable days followed by days in the 60's then up to 100 then back down - Winters have been a bit mild ( not much snow) the last several years except for a wind storm that took roofs off - I still see crews working to get them all done before this winter hits - My son had a huge tree fall thru the kitchen right to the floor -house was uninhabitable - and while this was going on the temps were way below freezing and no electric for 2 weeks -some people up to a month - My daughter had her roof peel back and it is now finally being taken care of - BUT - there was no snow - never been so cold in my life and I had a roof ! Fridge broke so all food stayed frozen for a bit but then I lost all I did from the summer garden - What a year - but like I said - not much snow - roads not clear tho due to all the fallen trees - wow - sure hope this winter is better - I did end up buying a generator but let my son use it in his music studio so he could keep teaching and recording - I do love winter tho - best be prepared - just got a letter from electric company saying that they are already preparing for another emergency - but we got through it and all is well - felt so bad for the homeless -

good day to all !!

We had a spectacularly hot summer which started early--and it is now beautiful and cool. Maybe an early fall?

Meanwhile, I am getting suggestions together for mysteries for my book club this week. Hopefully, some of them will be taken. This group has notoriously poor taste but there are a few people I really like to socialize with, so I keep going!

Wanted to share what I have added to my 'want to read' list on goodreads recently. Part in blame to the Book Riot podcast.

When Breath Becomes Air - I predict heavy tears when I finally read this one. (A neurosurgeon with terminal cancer writing in the final months of his life leaving behind a wife and 8 month old baby girl)
The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making - must get the physical copy as it apparently has beautiful illustrations and I love illustrations.

I've added more but these two stick out in my mind.

What have you added to your want to read list?

Call me Sandy.

@KJENEPM52 - I mainly read fantasy, paranormal, contemporaries, romantic comedies (Sophie Kinsella). I've been eyeing some non-fiction lately. I am thinking of getting the audio book - My Life on the Road by Gloria Steinem. Are there any celebrities or public faces you like maybe you can read a memoir or autobiography by them. Or if there is a subject you love for example travel or a point in history or something in science you can try a book in the subject.

Or if you want something in fiction - thriller, dystopian post apocalyptic, contemporary, steampunk (subgenre of scifi), graphic novels/comics (Soulless: The Manga by Gail Carriger), poetry (Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur).

Or read something outside of your usual age group choice

middle grade - A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness, The Kneebone Boy by Ellen Potter, The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

YA - Plain Kate by Erin Bow, Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor, Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers

Call me Sandy.

Mom is a Liberian in a small town in Ozark. She can get almost anything.but it takes time.

Ernest Vincent Wright said he was going to write a book that didn't have a single E in it. E is the most common letter in English. In fact it is the most common letter in quite a few languages. He was told he couldn't do it. So in 1939 he releases Gadsby a 50,000 word novel with no E. BY the rules if he used a contraction, neither the contraction or the words written out had an E. To make sure he didn't cheat he tied the E down on his typewriter.

I read mostly fantasy. I have an e reader. I just started getting free books that way I could try what ever I wanted and didn't feel like I had lost something if I didn't like it quit 1/2 way though. I found where I didn't like the hard core of many ganders, I don't like the Sci fi my husband likes, but there is a niche I do like.

I think Half Pice Books knows me by name. The grand children learned at a very easy age that if they asked to go there I would say yes and if they told me Santa forgot to give them their Half Price gift card I would help Santa out. I know I replace those gift cards several times a year, but I can't ay no when the children want books. Couldn't with mine and sure can't with the grand children.
