For me, Buffy began with the movie. I couldn't believe that they made a TV show out of it...and it was better than the movie.

Can you imagine? Or even clay-mation Buffy! That would be pretty intense though...better stick to computer animation. They could do it like they did Beowulf so you barely notice it's animated. Except for the washboard abs on an actor who has a beer belly...hehe I did appreciate those abs.

I discovered Buffy...well, I just had to look up the dates on imdb to be sure, but I've been with her since the beginning of the show in 1997 (that was 6th grade for me). I was hooked from emoticon . However, I did fall off the wagon at some point in high school due to being busy with extracurriculars. I just recently got caught up with the later seasons, and the series finale. Words cannot express how much I would LOVE a Buffy movie - even if it was animated with original cast voices.

"I haven't found many other series that I've enjoyed as much, or for the same reasons."

Me, too!

I was surprised that you said you saw Once More With Feeling, and didn't get it at first, and then later, in 2005 ...

I actually went to look up the airdate of the musical, as there was no way I remembered it being before 2005.

emoticon emoticon

It was in 2001. I could not believe that when I saw it! It's been that long since it aired the first time. Holy Cow!

In the past, I didn't understand why others were hooked on the show. I had seen several clips and thought it looked campy and superficial. I saw "Once More With Feeling" at a friend's house, and (out of context) I just didn't GET it at the time.

I think aroung 2005(ish), a friend of a friend lent me the series on DVD, and I was able to watch it from beginning to end. I think by the end of season 2, I became hooked! I was impressed at how the characters grew and evolved over time, and how Joss managed to keep each season unique and interesting. I was also impressed at how it went out with a bang (and not a whimper, as some TV series do).

I loved how many strong, likeable, heroic female characters there were in the show. It left a strong impression on me, and I haven't found many other series that I've enjoyed as much, or for the same reasons.

I was flicking channels one day and came across the Season 4 Buffy eppie called New Moon Rising. I was unsure what it was, but was intrigued. I continued watching once in a while. I loved the Spike character, and was incredibly thrilled with the season 5 arc with him being in love with Buffy.

I am an Angel character fan, and also, to some degree, an Angel series fan. I found some of the eppies in that show to be a lot 'darker', and I preferred the lighter (in many cases), and more 'campy' slant to Buffy. I did enjoy the Angel/Cordy story-line, though.

I'm glad I could help to name your next dog!

We're a little further along in season 6. We just watched Once More with Feeling and I think the one after it, but it was late, and we both fell asleep. Thank you for not spoiling season seven for me! I am so excited to watch :)

I do like Spike and Buffy - and I love (and have never heard before) the term Spuffy. It might be the name of my next dog.

I'm not great at episode names. I will have to look them up, but I have a hard time picking a favorite. I love them all. :)

My favorite Angel episode, so far, is the one where he is human... But I am interested to see where him and Cordy go. Are you an Angel fan too?

Do I!

I love many of the season 5 eppies:

* Intervention
* Checkpoint
* Blood Ties
* The Gift
* Spiral
* Fool for Love
* Out of My Mind

I also love some of the classics like Hush and Becoming, and many of season 7 as well, but I won't discuss those as spoilers would be involved.

I have a theory that the more Spike scenes in an episode, the better the episode. I am a huge Spuffy fan.

Funnily enough, though, I did not like their relationship much in season 6 as it was too unhealthy. It was fun, though!

It's safe to say I have become a Buffy fanatic. We're in season six. None of my friends bothered to tell me that she died in season 5. I guess since I knew there were 2 more seasons it wasn't a huge shock, but still! I love it! And Angel too :) Do you have a favorite episode?

I loved the movie with Kristi Swanson, Luke Perry and Donald Sutherland. That movie turned me on to Toad the Wet Sprocket...they played Little Heaven at the Prom.

When I found out they were making a TV show, I had to watch and I've been a fan ever since.

The name always put me off, but I kept seeing snippets of commercials that looked pretty good, like it would be my kind of show. So I finally broke down and watched a few episodes and was instantly hooked! I believe it was somewhere in season 3 because I remember being upset when Angel left.

Friend of mine recommended I watch it about a year ago. Didn't start until this summer. I'm not even though all the episodes yet... I'm tangled up in the middle of season 6. I'm also watching Angel-- I'm watching Buffy/Angel as they were originally aired on TV. I'm such a freak...

My friends always laugh when I tell this story, but I have been a fan of Sarah Michelle Gellar since she was on this teen soap called Swans Crossing. (if you remember this show, please tell me..lol) When I saw she was going to be on Buffy I wanted to watch but thought the show wasn't going to be good. Well my best friend called me and told me to watch it cause the show was pretty good in her opinion. I gave it a try and was hooked ever since.

My friends during high school introduced me to the show during it's third season. I had heard of it, but never took any interest because I thought it was just another WB teen drama (with vampires). But they showed me how funny it was and I was hooked.

During Season One, a co-worker told me how good B was....and I was like "Yeah, the movie was so NOT good." She said this is nothing like the movie, it is REALLY good....

Since I have been a fan of "monsters" since I was a little one, I thought I would appease her...and....never missed an episode after that!

LOVED and still love the music, the images, and SMG kicking beastie bootie and looking fashionably awesome was enough for me...then add to that the scooby gang, including major doses of Spike, Faith and Anya, and I was a happy guy....still watch it and am in the middle of season three...again....

I was in elementary school at the time I found buffy which was before it even began. I was with my parents visiting their friends and my mom asked me what I was watching on T.V. I told her this really neat new show. Although it seemed a little violent, she let me watch it and ever since I've always become hooked. My mom even loves it. Sometimes my other family watches it, too, but I'm the one who's in love with it hehe.

I started watching Buffy since the very beginning. I don't remember now if I watched it b/c I'd seen the movie and wanted to know how the TV show would go or what. No matter what day or station it moved to, you could always find me plonked down into front of the TV telling the rest of the family not to bother me.

I started watching the show during the second season on TV and was hooked! I love Joss dry humor that comes thru on the show. And how Buffy is both strong and still soft and a girl. The characters all have flaws that I can relate to and can see in my life. I think my favorite character is Spike other than Buffy.

I had seen the movie is was cute. I found out about the series by chance. I was bored flipping through the channels and it caught my eye. It was towards the end of the first season. I have all seven seasons on DVD and have watched them at least 3 times each, here comes the fourth time.

My friends kept telling me how great it was, but I was not interested ... finally one day my friend called and said they were airing "Hush" that night, it was a great episode, and I had to watch it. I went home that night and took his advice and LOVED it, even though it scared the crap out of me!

I was pretty much hooked from there on out, caught up with everything I could about the show, and watched it from there on out ... except for the last season. I still can't bring myself to watch that!

And now I am a big Joss fan, love Firefly, can't wait for Dollhouse, so sad about Wonder Woman falling through, the whole thing :).

I discovered Buffy through a friend who was a HUGE fan who started loaning us the seasons as she got them on DVD. Then we were hooked as a family.

Before that we'd avoided Buffy because of not wanting to get hooked on another TV show and because we just couldn't see how they could stretch the movie into a series... but now we know the truth about all THAT!

Netflix! I didn't even start to watch it until 3.5 years ago! And...actually, I'll admit, I started watching it because someone told me there was a lesbian couple on the show. There have been so few positive images in the media, I was a little hopeful for something different in Buffy. Plus, it was a strong female character not always needing to be rescued! Bonus! Happily...I was not disappointed on any level! Completely amazed with the depth of characters and how quick-witted the writing was... Love this show!

I watched from the very first show because for some unknown reason, I actually LIKED the movie! The show was instantly my favorite. But I missed the first season of Angel because I thought it couldn't possibly be as good as Buffy. I don't know what I was thinking. But then I saw it that summer in reruns and loved every minute of it. When they used to be on back to back I was in heaven. Every week I was guaranteed two hours of the best television, and better than most movies in my opinion. I was SO sad when they went off the air. I have really high hopes for Dollhouse. I'm so excited to watch it.

I think I stumbled upon Buffy about half way through the first season. I had seen the movie and thought it was cheesy. I loved the show! I was hooked and so excited I could catch up that summer during re-run season. I own all the DVD's and have seen them all at least 3 times through completely.

My friends loaned me Seasons 1 and 2 while I was doing a research study (a LOT of sitting around time!). I watched both seasons straight thru, and started begging my friends for the rest of them. When the Chosen Collection came out, my lovely boyfriend bought it for me. Turns out he DOES listen when I talk!

I was bored one day, tv was on. Buffy came on (was re-runs cause by that time Buffy had already gone off the air and it was the end of the last season of Angel). I always thought it seemed like a stupid show (I was one of those snobs put off by the title.)

I couldn't find the remote and thought I'd wait and see how bad it sucked. It ended up being an episode in season 7, not even one of the better ones, but I fell in love from the first episode I saw. From that point I had to see and own them all.

I ended up watching the seasons out of order the first time though because I was Miss impatient. Season 5 was what was available locally so I got it (season 6 hadn't yet come out)

Then I watched, 2, 3, 1, 4, 6, 7

Once I owned them all I went back and watched them all in order like a normal person.

I was in college when Buffy premiered on TV. My sister who was in high school begged me to watch it with her. I was like eh about it because I remembered the movie of the same name and how much it sucked. But when it premiered that Saturday, I watched it with my sister and was hooked. After that any time Buffy was on and I was away from home, I'd beg my mom to tape it so I wouldn't miss it and be behind. I was lucky that my whole family loved Buffy and didn't mind taping it for me.

Anya: "Oh, at first it was confusing. Just the idea of computers was like — whoa! I'm eleven hundred years old! I had trouble adjusting to the idea of Lutherans."
Tara: "I go online sometimes, but everyone's spelling is really bad. It's... depressing."

I can't remember what made me first check it out, but I do remember that for the longest time, I avoided it. Not only was the name incredibly stupid-sounding, but the movie it was based on had sounded stupid to me years earlier. How could a show called "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" be anything other than idiotic?
But somehow, one day, I flipped it on... and fell in love with it in an instant.

I am not sure why but I had always thought that Buffy fans were with the show from the beginning like me. It pleases me to know that because of syndication the Buffyverse grows and grows. I love it!

I never watched the show when it was on TV. It didn't interest me and I never understood what people saw in it. Of course, I had never seen one minute of the shows, lol. What did I know?

Then last year at the beginning of June I was waiting for my daughter to get ready for school and was paging through the stations. Out of curiosity (and the fact that I now knew that David Boreanaz was on the show at one time--big Bones fan) I turned it on. I watched about 5 minutes and was like--hey, that's kind of interesting. It was a late season 2 episode (I think the one where Buffy is helping Angel recover from his time in hell). It was like BONUS since it was an Angel episode, lol.

So I paused it (gosh I miss my DVR), took my daughter to the bus stop and came back and watched. Next day I did the same thing and was totally hooked. By then it was Friday and it wasn't airing on weekends (total withdrawal already). I set it to record Buffy and Angel every week day.

Then I spent most of my summer in Chicago where they come on at 5 and 6am and I was not getting up that early and I didn't have a DVR (sniff, sniff). So I started watching them online in November. Dh got me the Chosen DVD set for Christmas and I ordered the Angel ones afterwards. I've now seen every episode.

I got into Dr. Who on the recommendation of a friend. She let me borrow Season 1. Loved it, despite the cheesy effects. I'd get the DVD's, but they are so expensive. So I try to catch it when it's on. Of course, I never know when it's on! I did catch a mini marathon on Sci-Fi a few weeks ago. I wasn't sure if I'd like David Tennant, but I really loved him. All I knew him from was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

I was with Buffy from day one. I was in high school at the same time so I feel like they are just friends from school. I did walk away for a few episodes of Buffy during season 5. Can anyone guess why? Dawn disgusted me. I could not stay away from Buffy for long and for those 7 years- people knew not to call me during Buffy hour. The finale was so emotional for me...and then I came to terms with that too. Thank goodness for season 8!

That's how I started with Doctor Who also! I fell in love with David Tennant. Hubby is an avid Whovian and I just never took the time to watch but one day during the 2nd New Who season I took notice and haven't looked back since!

This actually relates to the Xander post. I had seen the Buffy movie, thought it was passable and then forgotten it, and when I heard a series was coming out, I thought that was the stupidest idea EVER.

...and then I was flipping through one night and saw Nicholas Brendon. I stopped to watch for awhile. Then I just kinda happened to watch the next week. And the next week. And the rest is history :) Interestingly, my Nip/Tuck fandom had a similar beginning.

I knew of Buffy from the movie but never really paid any attention to the show, since I worked nights when it was on. I did catch Helpless one night and couldn't understand why the show was getting such rave reviews. Hell, what was I thinking back then! Anyway, fast forward to 2001 and I was taking a course in college about women in popular culture. Our teacher had us watch the 1st two episodes.I think we talking about race or something. I ended up going to the library and finding the 1st season on DVD afterwards. I watched it and was hooked ever since. When payday hit, I went and bought season 2. And so on....

For me it was during 2001. I had just had a baby and was a SAHM for the first time so it was either soaps or talk shows and since I wasn't interested in either one I ended up watching Buffy and got hooked.

I discovered Buffy in Season 1 about halfway through on the TV. I didn't have cable anymore and I was left with only a couple of channels and I turned it on at the time Buffy was on. I was instantly hooked. I got caught up on the rest of the eps during repeats.

I never gave any of the shows a second glance until the summer of 2004. My husband mentioned that he had caught a glimpse of BtVS on tv while getting ready for work one morning and thought it was pretty good so he suggested we rent them on Netflix. Well I looked at him like he grew a second head! But to appease him I went ahead and added it to our queue. Lo and behold after the first episode we were hooked! And the rest, as they say, is history!

It is now my favorite television show of all time. Hands down.
