I eat 3 square meals a day and little snacks (carrots, fresh mushrooms, celery, raisins) in between meals.

THINK you can do it and you WILL!

I eat meals and 1-2 snacks. It depends on when I'm hungry.

I have always been a grazer, mostly up till dinner time then we had a normal sit down dinner, which I still force myself to do. I usually have a banana, V8 juice or either a granola bar or one of the healthier 100 calorie snack packs for my snacks. I really have a hard time somedays getting my calories up to where they need to be~which for wt loss is almost as bad as getting to many calories~body slips into starvation mode. Mini meals is supposedly a good way to go 4~6 a day and dividing daily calories between with maybe 2 smallll snacks. I don't want to eat that often lol.

Does anyone else find that as the mom you are expected to sit down and eat dinner? If you don't then something must be wrong. Do you feel guilty if you don't eat with the family?

Because of the above I try to stick to three meals a day with two small snacks. By small snacks I mean 100-200 calories so a granola bar or a banana or some baby carrots with hummus.

I found that when I tried to eat 5-6 mini meals a day I was hungry or over my calories.

I guess it is just a matter of finding what works for you. It takes some trail and error which can be disappointing, but such is life...

It takes dedication, determination and desire to accomplish anything in life.
Expect nothing. Appreciate everything.

300-400 calories a meal sounds better to me than big meals or mini meals. If you stick with meals that fit within those calories 3 times a day and one snack, then most people would hit their recommended calorie mark.

I don't have time to eat 6 mini-meals a day. My husband likes to eat that way. I tried it, but didn't like having to eat so often. So I'll stick with 3 medium meals and a snack.

I have read that our bodies are really only able to use about 300 - 400 calories at a time and anything in excess of that is what our bodies save (as fat) for later use.

What is your thinking on this - Do you function better with three large meals or
5-6 mini meals per day?

Or do you have other information about this that may be helpful to us?
