Thanks for the welcome. So glad to be here.
Good luck on the job.
I walk to work most days, only about 10 minutes one way for me but every little bit helps on that cardio.

Sue, yep to an employee discount, and a bonus incentive program and a 401K and the list goes on. Who knew?
Kayaking today as I felt like a needed a few days of no running or walking. I took 3 days "off" and just did other things. I shall set out tomorrow am, before it gets hot for a run/walk.

Hope you get an employee discount, Doris!

Lovely day here today. I went for a walk and came back with 3 pounds of ocean trout. (Snowbird friends are emptying their freezer before heading back north!) Can't beat that!

So, I had orientation today at Wal Mart. Found out lots of stuff that I did not know. It was pretty good. Hopefully I will like the job. I start Tuesday but was told that it takes about 1-2 weeks to complete all the training.
Hope everyone got to enjoy the nice weather today!

Welcome, Anne! I agree, this is an amazing site, and it has helped me make friends both here and in my 3D life.

Well, so much for destressing over the weekend. I worked a half a day and cleaned and worked on to-do list the rest!

I am from Claremont. Almost to the Vt border and have lived in this area for 25 years. I am recently divorced and on my own. Kids are all grown up and gone, too. Friends through here are a refreshing change from other site's negativity. I am doing well in my goals, but only because of this site and the companion app.

Robin I know so sad! they are in our prayers too

deanandme my boss was from the colebrook area - and that is north! sorry about your shoulder pains - not fun at all - how about some gum? all that water may keep you up too - eeekkk!

Sue perhaps that email helped your boss get out all the negative thoughts too - after seeing all yours perhaps they didn't have any more either - hope today was better

Doris you are awesome to get all that done already - I still have it all to do - yuck! really hoping tomorrow is a good day by the time I get out of work

I too have night time snacking issues. I have found that the only thing that works 100% of the time is to simply have nothing to eat in the house! A little unrealistic though........I try to keep fresh fruits and cut up veggies at the ready with a variety of low cal. dips as options. I have discovered that fruit works best as it is "sweet".
Finished the lawn raking today!! Hurray!! All flower beds and lawns are ready for summer. Now for the bark mulch. Blech.

Welcome back, Deanandme! I've got that midnight snacking weakness--fell for it last night, in fact. Sometimes I think I should lock myself in the bedroom!

Much better day yesterday, and another SparkFriend suggested writing down all the negative thoughts for 20 minutes, to get them out of your system. (Unfortunately, I wrote them all down in an email to my poor boss!)

Congrats on the job, Doris!

Morning everyone!
To answer a question-I am WAY north, up in Colebrook, near the canadian border!! I will try out the drinking water before and after snacks to see how that works out. Thanks for the idea.
One thing I found is that if I can get to bed earlier it is not such an issue. However, I have some problems with my shoulders [tear in the rotator cuffs] and so a lot of times I go to bed earlier, but then end up needing to get back up, take tylenol, put icyhot on and wait to get sleepy again : ( THEN, I eat AGAIN!!!!!!!!

congrats Doris on that new job - hope it works out well for you!

Sue I understand completely - when that negative stuff creaps in it is hard to kick it to the curb - hope today was better

Welcome back deanandme - I hear you on the night time snacking - it was an issue for me but I found a trick that works well for me - I have to drink a full 8 oz glass of water before any snacks - and another one after that snack - it not only helps me get in all my water - but it fills me up so I don't have extra snacks - and if I really feel like I need that extra snack - guess what - that means another 2 glasses of water - - so now my night time snacking has gone away - otherwise I'm up all night making extra trips to the bathroom for drinking all that water at night! hahaha hope it helps! and how far north are you - I'm in Ossipee

Work is just loony these days, Holly. I suspect our behemoth of an organization is suffering either growing pains or death throes. And boy, did I get in a negative spiral yesterday, maybe fueled by too much caffeine. Negativity infected everything I did; the only good things I managed to do were my morning walk and meditating twice, but the second session ended abruptly with sour thoughts. I plan not to be that way today! The most important things I can do for my body are walking, meditating, eating well, and swimming--NOT getting all knotted up in a ball of stress and anger.

Serenity now! emoticon

haha sue that is what I do too - just plug away at it every day - one day I might get caught up - lol

Doris way to go running outside - it was nice today but still a bit windy. hoping tomorrow will be as nice! way to go with the house work - I'm thinking at this point if I removed the dust I may not have a house left. . . haha

remember way back when I went to my personal trainer Ellen and she then started doing boot camps? well she finally has an actual location and I'm entertaining the idea of trying it again. I loved seeing her as my trainer but when she started the boot camps the timing just didn't work well for me - she has added a few different times now and I'm thinking the 5:45 one may work - so I'll keep you posted if I give it a try.

Hi team. Ran outside today, it was actually nice! The wind was blowing but it was a warm one, not a cold one!!! House cleaning today. Blech. I do not do it all in one day......it would take too long. I dust on Tuesdays. I hate dusting, or should I say dust removal? The house gets dusty all by itself:(

hi everyone - what a windy day - almost blustery really - and it was a cold wind too - brrrrrr

Sue sounds like a perfect kind of day - glad you enjoyed it

had a busy day at work then hit the gym for some miles - I have 26 to run this week because of my short week last week - so it's make up time! almost didn't get in a run because when I arrived all the machines were taken - but after getting changed when I returned to check the cardio room an eliptical was free so I grabbed it while I could - I usually hate having to run my miles on that thing but tonight it was take what you can get and be happy about it. so it was a good workout atleast.

Newme - Doris is right - this is a great place where you are always welcome and can find an answer to just about anything - so baby steps and enjoy! that will always make it easier and much more fun too!

Doris I was with you - I stayed inside at work all day long - way too windy and cold up here - it was actually spitting some snow at lunch time - glad that quit early!

Can't believe I didn't check in yesterday! Oh well. Here I am now.

We had our family get-together Saturday, for Bill's GS's birthday, then a quiet Easter. We took a walk, picked up 3 sea grape seedlings that a lady down the street had promised me, went to Carrabas for lunch, then Walmart, then just hung out at the tiki bar between the Punta Gorda bridges. Great way to spend Easter afternoon, in my opinion!

Thank you for the welcome! Today is the day I decided I would start my new "life style". I am hoping that by making little life style changes- instead of going on an unrealistic diet that I am doomed to fail, or gain everything back when I eat "normal" foods, that I will be able to take some weight off live healthier. Good luck to us all

Mary Doris is right that is a great place to see what is coming up where for races - good luck and enjoy!

Doris OUCH!!! that just isn't nice at all - migraines really suck! and hey family is family - we have a few like that - our brother in laws parents are always invited to christmas eve festivities and she makes us all the best honey mustard to bring home - yummy! and kayaking already - you are brave! lol

we headed to our oldest dd's house today for easter - the grand baby had so much fun - she was so quick to figure out how to find the easter eggs they put all over the yard - when she found one she would squeel and run for it - then she didn't want to put it in her basket - until her hands got too full then she finally would - I think she was afraid we weren't going to give them back to her - but they were just plastic eggs so no worries! haha she had a great time!

Holly, WTG on 33 minutes!! You rocked it:)
The migraine ended up being especially nasty. My head hurt for three days! At least the meds took the edge off so I could somewhat function.
Yesterday, DH and I went out kayaking. OK, it really wasn't boat weather but it was fun. Today, we went to my SIL's Mom's house for dinner. Seems weird but she really is part of the family. It is kinda nice to have an extra set of relatives sometimes!

Hi Everyone,
I live in Claremont and just joined this week. I have CIPD (autoimmune disorder) which literally makes me weaker and weaker. I cannot afford treatments any more so the only other recourse is steriods, yuk. So usually I can laugh at myself, this time is alittle more complicated and I could really use some help. I am not looking for sympathy just support and encouragement. Thanks

Welcome, NEWME! This is my favorite team, and I don't even live in NH any more!

Not my mom, Doris, but Gilda's. Her mom had a small stroke and will be in the hospital and rehab for a while. I feel her pain, though, as if it were mine. And I'm kind of struggling to have lost my buddy. Her marriage, it turns out, is pretty toxic, so she might not even come back here. OMG, though, how much worse it is for Sherri's Bob and it was for Holly, when her dad had that fall!

Just keep at it, Doris. The right job will find YOU, just like the right boat will find you!

Hi all. Had another job interview today. It seems that many places are simply taking their time with new hires. I guess that is OK but I am just waiting. Sigh. Anyway, got a short run and longer walk in today, then vacuumed the entire house. I usually don't vacuum both levels the same day. I had forgotten just how big this darned house is!:) Sheesh.

I think we just made our last visit to the boat. We had to drop off the "stuff" we keep at home through the winter. I thought we had everything last weekend but, no. I discovered some things that DH forgot about. Sheesh. We did eat out though:) Newick's has pretty good seafood.
Sue, so sorry to hear about your mom. Hope she is recovering.

Heather - way to go with your C25K program - that is awesome!!!

Sherri - I do hear you about making time - it's so true - but it doesn't make it any easier to get done! hope you'll be able to get in the plumbing soon - it really is looking great!

Sue OMG I'm so sorry - Please tell Gilda her mom is in our prayers and she is too - I know when my dad was in FL for the winters he was alone there and we usually talked every day on the phone - but sometimes he was busy and we would miss a day here and there - well 3 days went by and I couldn't reach him - when he finally called me as I was on my way to work and almost out the door - when all I can remember hearing is him saying that he had been on the floor for 3 days and couldn't get to the phone to call for help - he was finally able to hit it and knock it down to call me - I was a total wreck and to this day have no idea how I drove to work with my 2 girls in the car because I had to be there to open the bank that day - OMG it was so terrible - so I do feel for her - you feel so out of control and helpless - I sure hope her mom is ok.

Doris hope your interview went well - and yeah for your run! take it slow and easy girl!

ok just got home so need to find food - had an ok day here - got in my run so that was good - otherwise I'm just taking it one day at a time. have a 5K on saturday in Concord - that will be fun then have to head way north to get my hair done - and the oldest dd's hair too - go figure our hair dresser is in Glen! yikes! but we'll make it happen - we always do.

ah, sue, sorry to hear about Gilda's mom, it's hard to be so far away. In the past 6 weeks Bob's sister was rushed into surgery to repair a heart valve (she's doing well, thank goodness) and then his brother suffered a major stroke (and he's not recovering well at all) I know it's killing Bob that he can't get down there, either to see his brother or help support the sister and sister in law.

Heather, nice to see you. Way to go on keeping up with your couch to 5k. I'm still trying to figure out when to restart mine...I have more than a few challenges lately, some of them out of my control.

Doris, I hear you about the laundry. Bob just finally went back to a real job selling cars and as happy and relieved as I am about some money coming in, this having to wash and dry and IRON those work clothes is driving me nuts.

Holly, the thing about hiking is that you don't "find" time to do it, you "make" time to do it. Just remind me in a couple of months that I said that, haha, as I'm coming up with excuse after excuse about why I don't have the time. Hopefully be settle into that new house within a month (waiting on son-in-law to get up here and get all my sinks/faucets installed to officially make it liveable....though I'm starting to get impatient and might just figure out how to do it myself. Then I"m hoping to take one day for me to do what I want and one day for the house.
I wish I could have gone up monadnock, but it's a bit too early in the spring for me. I was talking to a MRI tech who comes down from Conway yesterday about all these great hiking places and trading stories about some of the different places we had both been and now my feet are getting itchy to go.

Emotional trauma around here last night. Gilda's mom in MI had a stroke, she didn't think Bobby wasn't being very supportive or understanding, and she ended up at our house, crying on our shoulders and working out a plan to go up to MI. She was even talking about not coming back, which of course tears me up. My meditation this morning was all the more important, to accept all that's going on and direct good energy toward Gilda and her family.

Just saying Hello everyone! I'm on Week 5 of my couch to 5k program. I signed up to do the Rock-N Race on May 17th. Other than that I'm just plugging away at work. I have my scooter back on the road. Just in time too with the gas prices going up again. Have a great day everyone.

Haha, Holly, now YOUR challenge is to post a challenge question every day! Ah, the joys of being team leader!

The solar panels are working GREAT--91 degrees yesterday. Gilda and Bobby's pool is smaller, and they use their pool cover, so theirs is really like a bathtub--97 yesterday! That's a little too hot for me!

evening all!

Doris yeah the boat is sold and a pink kayak - how awesome! haha that your dh doesn't really "like" the pink one! haha my dh wouldn't either! lol

Robin glad you fixed one problem and hope the second one doesn't give you too much grief.

ohhh hiking! I love to do it but don't always find the time - let us know when your next hike is and where - and could we join in too? that sounds like it would be great fun! Sherri also hike alot and has great knowledge of the mountains around the state - I know she will be hiking again soon once she gets settled into her new home. glad you had a great time!

Sue hope that part comes in soon so you don't have to suffer through that FL heat - but like you said atleast you do have that pool - how's the solar heating going? is it working as well as you expected?

so I posted a new question in my "mind" challenge this month. I'm going to try to post them in the mornings - but mornings are so busy for me lately. so we'll see how it goes. but it is fun to see everyone respond.

if you believe, you WILL achieve
