You know, one thing I read, fasting on even a limited basis, could make the difference in how one eats. I was at my Ex's last night, and his friend was making cookies. She gave me one, and you know I did NOT want another!!! So odd, but good!

Not much to report so instead I'll just give you the British English words for the US 'purse' and 'wallet'.

English women carry handbags (in general, you understand, not every woman!), in which they will have their purse which contains money and credit cards.

Men carry wallets, which have the same function as women's purses, but men keep their wallets in their pocket (jacket or trouser).

So I guess that makes handbag = US purse and British purse = US wallet, whilst British wallet is, perhaps also a US wallet?

Another week and no weight loss. I'm not surprised at all because the way I've been off course the past couple weeks. BUT--there has been NO gain. I need to remind myself of my ultimate goal and that is not weight loss but to be able to get off my Metformin. Maybe it's time to sit down and watch Dr. Fung's videos on diabetes again.
Yesterday I started making cookies for the weekend. Not many! Will give away any left from the family gathering so I don't have to bring any home. Chris--not sure I'm doing the Pavlova or not now. If I make Meringues then that would be a lot of egg whites LOL! My brother Roger always makes Cherry Delight which is like a cheesecake and I know my oldest niece is making cookies too. There will be wayyy too much food there and plenty of deserts.I am fasting on Friday I think, not just my 16:8 but from Friday morning until 1:00 on Saturday.

"So fasting is effective, simple (one main rule - don't eat), flexible (lots of different regimens), practical (saves time and money), and virtually guaranteed to work. So why don't people support it? Because nobody makes money off you when you fast. Only when you buy crazy things like meal replacement shakes. Nobody wants to you to find out the Ancient Secret of Weight Loss." Dr. Jason Fung

alright, today is a fast day. I have already entered my food into my tracker, so I am good to go. I am going to go to my Senior Strength class in a little bit.

I work today. After class I will pick up my son and he will come to work today to help out with the computers and such.

I finished the cushion back for my mom's chair so tonight I will finish the seat cover so I can take them with me when I go down to visit for the holidays.

Thanks, Chris. I believe all trials in life are learning experiences and this definitely is one.

Fasting went well yesterday until I carved the smoked turkeys Ken brought home. Think I nibbled too much. That was my first (but not last) smoked turkey. Delicious!!!

Housecleaning today, book work for the company, a little Wally Walmart shopping, and a hair cut are on the agenda for today. I skipped my trims for nearly 3 months to let my hair grow some and now I look like a sheep dog.

Oh I am a Florida girl at heart so I am barefoot 99% of the time as well, I just have the shoes so that I will always have to perfect pair to go with whatever outfit I put together. I don't wear a pair 2 days in a row, especially closed ones so that they can air out. And the boots are new this year, since I lost weight I found some that I could actually zip up.

I have a large plastic tote full of purses, but I only generally use 3, one for every day (which I use until it is worn out) and 2 for travel, a large one that is like a carry all, and a small one that is essentially a wallet with a strap that also holds my phone.

Tammae, I am very sorry about your mom, I have watched this happen with both of my grandmothers and know how disheartening and emotionally painful it is. Glad that Ken is there for you.

Totally agree with the joy on faces when they get their gifts.

I'd be barefoot everyday if I could... My feet are big and shoe shopping is not an easy task! I do notice with weight loss my shoes feel more roomy and my dress boots zip much easier. I have dress shoes and casual shoes in brown & black. Work boots, tennis shoes, and flip flops. Pretty boring really. I should have Chris take me shoe shopping! Lol!

Eliz... your purse comment made me chuckle because I usually carry around a wallet in my back pocket! I have three purses and only carry one when I dress for church on Sunday.
Good luck, Eliz, with your doctor. I know how good fasting made you feel and hopefully the results will convince your doctor too. Please keep me updated!

Thanks for asking about my mom.
She is the same physically (no improvement... if you do not test for blood sugar then it must be ok?). I notice her behavior becoming a bit childish. I never say anything about her memory loss (to anyone) or when she lies to me because I refuse to embarrass her but it still hurts. She is pushing me away. I know she loves me and I will continue to check on her with visits at least once per month and phone calls. Life certainly can take a quick turn in the road! Ken is my rock during this time because he went through the same thing with his Dad last year. Sorry to ramble!

On a happier note... Our little friend (age 11) opened his Christmas gift last night and that was fun to see. It was a building set with a motor and you use marbles to travel down tubes and slides. I convinced Ken to let him open the box and just look at the bags of pieces before we took him home to the parents. Ten minutes later the pieces were out of the bags too and all over the floor! The boy didn't want to leave... which Ken knew would happen if he opened the box! Lol! Love seeing the joy on a child's face... best part of Christmas!

Thanks everybody! :o) Good to be back to what I love!

I have 1 pair of shoes that I wear to everything and 3 spare pairs! LOL! They are just canvas slip-ons, I never go anywhere fancy! I'm barefoot 99% of the time!
AND I only have 1 purse! LOL! I hate purses! LOL!

Tammae I saw my Dr several more times to get on "her" plan. And then I have been studying, why I should get off it!
I won't see her for 4 more months now. I feel justified to go back to Fasting with Dr Fung's scientific articles. I'm printing them to send her pre-visit.

I am doing 8:16 again. With great success. I felt so ill on the "Diabetes diet", I feel so much better now. In October I did 2 weeks of Atkins Induction with Drs approval. I think it was easy because of all that Fasting has taught me.

Right now with the Holidays its hard to keep calories low. But I'm making lots of healthy substitutions!

How is your mom Tammae?

I don't have a lot either but my husband thinks I do! LOL! Two pairs of low heel shoes==casual but I wear with dresses. and one pair of NB athletic shoes and the pair of everyday shoes with some serious tread and a pair of steel toe work boots.....and slippers.

Chris--I always tend to wear mine out before buying new, same with purses I guess. Trying to downsize other things like clothes though.

Oh my word, I feel glutinous re: shoes. I have 5 different pairs of "athletic" shoes, 2 boots, 4 pair of closed "winter shoes", 3 pair of dressy flats, 5 pair of sandals, countless number of flip flops, 3 pair of pumps, 3 pair of dressy sandals, and that doesn't count the shoes in purgatory (shoes I don't really wear much but can't part with) or the ones I use for gardening.

In high school I worked in a shoe store and always had 3 pair of she's for each outfit I owned, heels, middle, and flats for comfort. Close to 100 pairs then, I am probably closer to 50 right now.

It is a bit of a disease I guess.

I have 3 pairs of shoes. A pair of flats I bought for $2 and never wore, a worn pair of athletic shoes, and a pair of running shoes I wear all the time. I really want a pair of boots though.

Val, I never "need" shoes, but always find a reason to buy them. I am a bit of a shoe freak.

The scale has not been kind to me this week, that is not to say I didn't deserve the uptick. But this morning it turned back down, and I am still within 2 pounds of hitting below this year's low.

I am planning to do a proper 500 calorie fast today. I have let myself get a little sloppy with the 750, so I feel like I should push myself a bit to get myself back to being used to the lower calories. In any case I will not go over 750.

Today is the day I make myself sit down and sew the covers for the cushions on my mom's wicker chair. I bought her a lovely wicker chair for her porch and while the stuffing for the cushions are in very good condition, the material covering them had been torn (pets I presume). I hate to sew and had thought that I would just pay someone to do it, but they wanted $200 plus the cost of the fabric, so sew them I will.

Whirlwind morning! For me at least! I really needed new shoes and I was blessed to see the Meijer store had a two day sale on shoes! YAY! Buy one pair get another pair for $1! So I got TWO pairs! Then I had some broken gold jewelry that's been around for years so I decided I may as well see what I could get for it and it also helped me in my decluttering. Now I am back home with my kitties enjoying a cup of coffee.
DH will be working OT a few hours in the morning then we need to start making Christmas gifts for his family.

Welcome back Eliz! I have been enjoying Dr. Fung's blog posts as well. I am in a diet/cookbook moratorium though so I will just stick with his blogs.

Tammae, congrats on the loss. Good luck with the maintenance!

Yesterday's fast did not go well. When I picked up my son we stopped for lunch. I had a chopped salad. Would have been fine if I had not come home and also eaten dinner. Ah well. Not too badly, if my estimates are correct, I still came in under 1,000 calories. Not going to beat myself up over it. I still plan to stay under 750 today.

Welcome back, Eliz. Are you going to try 16:8? Is your doctor on board this time?

Today is a fasting day for us. I didn't think 4:3 would make such a difference but when I am home the weight finally starts dropping. It took two weeks but worth the wait. Now to keep it off.

Dropping in to say "HI!" :o)

This is from an article (link) below, that has helped me "solve" my Dr issues!! Woo-Hooo!

(The Dawn Phenomenon T2D 8)
"The same thing is seen during fasting. Remember, there are hormonal changes during fasting that include increases in growth hormone, adrenalin, glucagon and cortisol. These are exactly the same counter-regulatory hormones as seen in the DP. These are normal changes. As you fast, your insulin drops. Your body then tries to increase the glucose in the blood by encouraging the liver to release some of its stored sugar and fat. This is natural. However when you have T2D, there is too much sugar released from the liver which shows up in the blood like an uninvited guest.'This is a 'placebo' line. It serves no purpose but it makes us feel good.'

Is this a bad thing? No, not at all. We are merely moving the sugar from the liver out into the blood. Lots of doctors consider it bad, because they are only concerned about the sugar that they see (in the blood). They do not concern themselves with the sugar that is hidden away.

After all, think about it this way. If you are not eating, where is the sugar coming? It must come from inside your own body. There is no other alternative. You are simply moving the sugar from storage, out into the blood where you can see it. It is neither good nor bad."

Both of my kids will be home for Christmas. My daughter is the one who makes the sweets, but she will only be home for a couple of days before we leave for mom's, so she won't have time. She will probably make pizzelles at mom's but not much else. My mom's oven is not working, and since she isn't a baker or really much into cooking her kitchen is not well equipped for such things.

I really don't worry much about eating over Christmas, oddly I don't usually gain more than a few pounds.

I do have a party to go to this Friday and also one on Monday, Friday's will be easy, I will carry a clutch in one hand a diet drink in the other and thus no free hands for munching. Monday will be harder, as it is at a restaurant I have not had a chance to try out yet.

Good idea TAMMAE! I bet if I make some peanut butter fat bombs no one will even know.....LOL!
I plan on using my common sense. I will eat somethings I don't normally but I was thinking...I have survived two reunions, and various potlucks since starting IF so I know I can handle Christmas. There will be plenty of foods that are on my list to eat, I know what most are bringing already. Ham, cheesy potatoes etc---I'm thinking I will make a small cheesy cauliflower casserole. Hummmm...not a bad idea. LOL!

I'm going sugar free too... with some roasted nuts and fat bombs for Christmas candy. I struggle with guilt feelings because my kids will be home for the Christmas season and in the past I made HUGE amounts of cookies & candies. I ALSO gained 10 lbs every year over the month of December... only to "go back on my diet" in January. This went on for YEARS!!!

Like you, Chris, I don't want that temptation around. I actually MISS making these sugary recipes. But... I've come a long way on this weight loss journey and do not want to sabotage any success I've had. I will buy some candy for their stockings and there will be cookies at Grandma's house. Kids do not need the sugar anyway...

ok, had a mini binge last night. It was that darn Pavlova.

It was mini because I stopped it, a binge because it involved shoveling into my mouth.

It was not an emotional thing and the Pavlova had not been calling my name. I went into the fridge to get sweetener for my tea and poof! the Pavlova was just right there.

So I started shoveling it into my mouth, working to get as much in as I could before the running conversation in my head ("you don't need this, you aren't even hungry, you will feel terrible if you finish this, etc") had a chance to catch up with the overfull feeling in my stomach.

On a positive note, head and stomach did win out before I finished it and I threw the rest in the trash. My husband wouldn't eat it (fruit is not dessert, no matter what it is sitting on). Who was I saving it for?

Today is a fast day. thank the Lord! I just got back from my Senior Strength class. My husband is flying today (he has a private license and is just practicing since the weather is so beautiful today) and he won't be home until very late. He actually took one of the leftover meals with him, so I don't have to make him dinner tonight. I will be eating leftover salmon and celery. And lots of tea.

I am excited to try the Pavlova next week. I'm glad you tried it first! LOL! I hope no one minds the Pinterest talk. I was thinking the same as you were to keep it lower carb too. I already make Meringue cookies so I am sure it won't be too difficult.

Today was a much better day. Tomorrow I am going thrifting with my friend Holly. I spotted a new Salvation Army Store a few weeks ago so that is the first stop! I need new jeans yet! I have a bag and a half of clothes to take to the in-laws on Christmas Day. A co-worker of my SIL's can use them. So happy to pass them on!

wonder if you couldn't do fried pickles maybe using a nut or coconut flour (aren't those lower in carbs?) Last night I made a dressing from homemade mayo and a diy ranch dressing mix, then put it in a half red pepper in the center of a plate, surrounded by blanched broccoli to make it look like a wreath, added slices of red pepper to make it look like a bow. Looked very fancy for a veggie tray. Of course there are always cheese trays as well. Personally I just do not even start snacking, I can't stop once started. It is easier for me to drink diet drinks and just eat the meal and walk away.

last night's dinner party went very well. and I only gained .4 pounds. The dessert I made was by far the most elegant and yummy I have ever made. And Val, I bet you could make it pretty low carb. It was a pavlova (plate sized meringues) topped with heavy cream and mascarpone whipped with sugar (use sweetener of choice) and all topped with cherries that had been simmered in blackberry wine and slightly thickened with arrowroot. I posted a photo on Pinterest. One of the gentlemen there (a sweet southern boy) said that he imagined that it is what the air in heaven tasted like. How is that for a compliment.

The concert was also fantastic.

Went off course last night low carb wise. Our Small Group at church had a small potluck. I had ham and salad and some fruit but I also ate 2 brownies and a sliver of carrot cake. So today I must buckle down again and stop sabotaging myself! I've messed up several times lately. I still lose weight but I can't help but feel like I am playing with fire and losing focus. Those sugar cravings sneaking up on me. Need to find low carb snacks for family Christmas party on the 19th. I am already committed to bring the favorite snack crackers for the nephew but need to find other options for me! Sugar free Meringues is a definite! Then there is always good old dill pickles! emoticon

Oddlass is right... why mess with something that is working? I am sure many of my fasting meals are over the allotted 500 calories. But... it is working so until it doesn't I will continue to guesstimate my calorie counts.

Woke at 2 a.m. and tried to stay in bed. Got up at 3:30 a.m. because I figure my body must have had enough sleep. This might end up being a long day!

I most definitely believe the body needs to get used to weight changes. It is why I generally try hard not to put a date/weight combo as my goal. And I just realized while typing that is exactly what I have been doing to myself this week by trying to get to the year's low weight before the new year. Ok, I will let up on it and press hard to keep my focus on continuing healthy habits, hoping for the resultant weight loss.

Yesterday's non-fasting day only showed a .4 increase on the scale. Today is a fast day. It is likely to be a bit of a challenge as I will be in the kitchen most of the day preparing things for tomorrow's dinner party. I will say though that since I did the 5 day fast I am feeling much more confident with the 4:3, especially since I have decided to let the calories creep up to 750 if I feel I need to. 750 was the low number in the 5 day fast, so that is how I chose it. Of course, now that I have given myself permission, I am way less interested in going that high. I think Tuesday I went just over 650.

I feel like since I weigh so much, that I can get away with a few more calories and still lose weight. After all, the original 500 was an average based on a 2,000 calorie a day diet. But even if I take the very lowest multiplier to figure out my TDEE and assume I am sedentary, I would basically multiple my weight by 10, and thus, even now after losing over 50 pounds, still get a target of 2,340 calories for maintenance/TDEE.

Anyway, I will continue to 'allow' myself 750 on my fast days until it stops working.

The "skinny" remark... ugh... I just let it roll off my back. I don't think people are saying it to be mean but to let me know they see a difference. I am learning to accept complements of all sorts with a "thank you" and moving on. I am an introvert personality so it is an ongoing learning situation for me.

I'm not sure I will hit my end of December goal of 170 lbs. For some reason my body has decided it likes being at 172-174. It did that same stall thing last year at this time so I'm wondering if it is due to what I eat or that the cold weather is making a difference. I also believe the body has to adjust to weight loss after a time and then the pounds start falling again. Anyway, I am sticking with the 4:3 routine until the end of December and we will see what happens in this journey.

Tracking homemade soup is difficult. You can put in the recipe generator, but estimating the number of servings is the difficult part. You can only get an estimate, at least for me anyway.

I seem to get the two extremes most of the time. Either no one says anything or someone may go overboard. Tammae---like the "skinny" remarks. UGH! Good thing my sis is on her trip. She usually goes on and on and on about how proud she is of me etc. another thing she'll do is if I make a low calorie food for reunion she goes around telling everyone I made it and it's healthy for you! I really don't like being center of attention. When she had a table at the same craft show I did she would tell people...My sister makes all of this herself!!! she is sooo talented. I told her to be quiet she was scaring people away! LOL! I also tend to rebel if I get too many compliments and start gaining again. This time I think I can combat those feelings. It all comes down to not liking the spotlight.

My family tends not to compliment my weight loss, on a positive note they don't say anything about the gains either. Plus to be fair, I have spent my entire life (since 8th grade) gaining and losing weight. I can't expect them to remember if I was up or down the last time they saw me.

The scale was kind to me this morning, lost 2.2 after the fast, I am now a pound away from going below my year's low weight. Today is a non-fasting day

Weight loss is very motivating. I actually feel excited about Saturday's fast.

Christmas concert tonight, wearing a red party dress I have just now gotten into. I bought it on an incredible mark down years ago when I was dieting under the concept that I would continue to lose and then get to wear it. Well it has hung in my closet taunting me, till now. Have a beautiful new pair of boots to wear with it. Going with BFF and her daughters (my daughter won't be home until the 19th).

I started out tracking like you, Val, and after learning how carbs/calories work for me I quit. I absolutely hate to track. And, you are correct, Chris... how DO you accurately track soup when it is home made? Takes way too much time and energy.

Val, excited to "hear" what your family says. My sister was the only one in my family who said anything... "You look like you've lost as much as I've gained!" Thank you?

The better complements come from my doctors, friends, & people I used to work with as a teacher. My siblings... only the above complement, if you can call that a complement. I will not share my fasting journey unless they ask... and they have not asked. My husband is my rock and helps me keep on track more than he knows. I'm lucky he fasts with me.

The funny thing was when I went to my in laws first part of November my MIL never said a word...and in the past she would ohhh and ahhh about how much thinner I was when I hadn't lost anything since I seen her last!. LOL! My husband's sister DID comment on how nice I was looking!

the tracking is a serious pain if you eat home cooked meals. Having to figure out how many servings a big pot of soup is, and what did I end up putting in it anyway! On fast days, since it is so much less food, fewer ingredients, it doesn't seem like such a pain. Plus, at least according to the science, on average I will only overeat by about 10% which is still less than what I under eat by on my fast days if I track them closely.

It is really interesting to me how those last 5 days worked out. I am not sure that only doing those 5 consecutive days of very low calories in a month would equal weight loss. But then again he was not studying weight loss he was studying various health indicators.

No matter, I am back on my 4:3.

Val, I saw a woman yesterday I had not seen in forever, she just kept commenting on how great I looked. It was a very nice boost.

Chris that is great! I have to say I'm not a tracker either. I did when I started out until I got a sense of how many carbs I was eating.

I am so excited with my weight loss but there are days I still have self doubt. I wake up wondering if I have been dreaming the pounds are gone, it's seemed so easy so far even when I go off track! I KNOW I am healthier, I KNOW I am having to buy clothes that fit, I KNOW I have been giving away the too large things. It's been years since I was at 210...I'm talking probably 1982! Christmas is coming up and I have family members who have not seen me since July and others over a year ago. My sis-in-law Judy is one and she will be very surprised! I know my sis will be shocked next year when they return from their year and a half RV trip! I have purposely not posted full body pics on Facebook LOL! I have to look back at pictures to keep me grounded. But looking at the number on the scale I can't believe I am just a few more pounds to go before my first goal of 198. After I reach I will change it. Baby steps, baby steps, 10 pounds at a time!
Thanks for "listening" to some of my thoughts.

Thank you for your kind words everyone. I'll keep you posted when I know more.
Chris, only tracking down days?, I think I'll do that. I hate tracking, so I'm only going to track down days. And 7lbs in 5 days?! Wowzer!! I might have to look into that! Do 1000 cal per day mon-fri, I'd been considering it anyway. .. hmm food for thought. I'm doing a down day today. Water until dinner time but have packed a 130cal protein shake in case I need it at work.

I only count what goes into my mouth on my very low calorie days, they are easy. My non-fasting days are more fun when I don't count.

So, yesterday's non-fasting did add 1.6 pounds, not unexpected after 5 days of very low calorie. Not sure if it was the toast or the Paletas, or just the total calories. Today is a fast day so no worries.

Had mild stomach issues last night, it is either the sourdough or the yogurt, so tomorrow I will have some yogurt and not the bread and see what happens. I suspect the sourdough because the issues start about an hour and a half after I ate it. I had eaten the yogurt about 5 hours before.

Just got back from my Senior Strength class, love it! And I have proven once again I can indeed exercise on a fast day/basically empty stomach. No more excuses.

Wow, Chris! You lost 7 lbs in 5 days? That is amazing weight loss and you are very dedicated to counting what goes into your mouth. Well done. A slice of homemade sourdough toast would have pushed me overboard and off the low carb boat. I love toast... but it tends to send me into an eating frenzy (and is like playing with fire for me).

Adrienne, I second everything everyone has said. It is amazing how many are touched by cancer (I have had 2-colon and skin). Positive thoughts fight it big time. And studies are starting to support intermittent fasting as a possible addition in the arsenal to combat cancer, so at least you have that going for you.

Ok, I know that the link has very specific macros to follow. But no, I am NOT a numbers girl. What I did was to use the calorie count and let the macros fall where they may. So on Friday I ended up with 1,002 calories, Saturday was 691, Sunday was 689, Monday and Tuesday were the same at 682. Yesterday I did my Senior Strength class, and did not pass out, so I can exercise fasted just for my own future reference. I am on my fitness pal as demuralist, if you want to see what I ate.

I lost another pound, so 7 total in the five days and I am now 2 away from my year's low. I am on a non-fasting day today and plan on crab cakes, spaghetti squash with butter, a slice of homemade sourdough toasted with homemade cultured butter, and a pistachio Paletas to finish.

I plan to continue the 4:3, though I may decide to use 750 as my calorie goal on my fasting days for now, and I plan to track my food on my fasting days, and not bother on my non-fasting days.

ADRIANNE, I'll be praying for good results back. I am a 9 year breast cancer survivor. (Surgery was in Dec 2006 followed by chemo and radiation in 2007) It runs in my Dad's side of the family. His Mom had it twice, his brother had it, my sister is a 22 year survivor. I know it's hard with everything else going on but try to stay positive. It is good for your health! Here is to a much better 2016 for all of us!

Yes, Adrienne... Thinking of you and hoping the best. I've been called back for suspicious scans too. At least we have the technology now to check it. My nephew is dealing with tests this week and has three kids... scary thought. Cancer is so ugly.

Chris... like Oddlass, I too need a simpler eating plan because the more I think about it the more I screw it up! You must be a number oriented person. Not this girl... which is what I told my husband when he hired me to do the book work for the company! Lol

Eydie... I'm fasting today. Gotta work on that Thanksgiving meal myself. A couple of good fasts really help. Glad to see you are doing so well and keeping on top of things.

I can't believe it's december, I too am currently going to be ending the year roughly the weight I started it at, positive not to gain, but disappointing to think of the effort just to maintain. I'm working old school with a notebook these days, I'm tracking my loss every week until my goal of being 92kg (202.4lbs) by my 36th birthday (17 Sept 2017). That will be a loss of 60kg/132lbs in that time. My weekly goal is to lose 640g, my first week I only lost 300g but last week I ate heaps, my TOM was due plus I've found a couple of dents on one breast and have been to see the doctor and have been referred for an ultrasound and mammogram. My Grandma died of cancer (breast, ovarian etc etc) age 62 (fought it for 10 years) and my cousin died last week age 31 of kidney cancer, leaving 3 young children with no mother and a father in prison for murder. Needless to say I ate some emotions last week.

I have one child Poppy born 27.11.2009

Eydie, good to hear that you are keeping on top of it and thinking ways of keeping the Christmas indulgence damage down to a minimum. I am not fasting this week. I am looking at trying a different variety of fasting in place of the 5:2 ...just for a while

DEMURALIST, well done on the 6lb loss! I have looked at the link for the 5 day fast, it looks a bit too complicated for me.(I am a bear of very little brain Lol) I am lucky not to have Thanksgiving weight to lose! we don;t have that one in the UK. You let us know how it ends. I will have to give it proper look.

I wannabe a fit Granny!

Me too. I am on Day 5 of a 5 day (less strenuous) fast.... www.telegraph.co.uk/news/science/sci

as of this morning I have lost 6 pounds, which puts me at pre-Thanksgiving weight. I have 3 more and I will hit this years low and be back in sync with my ticker.

I am finding this so much easier than the 500, hope I can get back to that reasonably easily. I will go back to my 4:3 and fast Thursday and Saturday this week.

I am already planning my dinner for tomorrow, and I am being very picky. The current front runner is crab cakes and roasted asparagus.

So I guess the bad news is that I have not really lost weight this year, the very good news is that I have not gained any weight this year.

I am changing my work schedule so that I can go to the Senior Strength class 3 days a week. I will go to the yoga class when my BFF can go. Then once I get settled in, I swear I am going to get back on the treadmill, at least on the days I don't do the class.

Focus shift to health!

Good morning! I'm still fasting but need to be more serious about it, don't want to get too complacent. I did gain a couple of pounds over Thanksgiving and I really don't want to accumulate any Christmas weight on top of that. Anyway, I'm fasting today---anyone else?
