Occasionally, my dogs eat them, so I guess they must be tasty?? Not sure I want to confirm that, however....

They will land on the house, and birds will swoop in to eat them, but it sounds like someone tapping on my window - kind of unnerving when it's happening on the second floor!

And they entertain the grandkids, who throw them in the lake to feed the fish :-)

I'll bet that the "Bizarre Foods" guy would enjoy them sauteed in some olive oil and garlic!!

Gross, but funny. :-)

We invented a game with them. When we get ready to get in the car, each child picks a fish fly and places him on the outside of the car window where they will be sitting. Then we all climb in and are off. The one whose fly stays on the longest wins.

O.K. We are easily amused. LOL

Ours (also known as Caddis Flies) usually appear around Mother's Day, although it was cool this year and we didn't have a large hatch.

The worst part is they're "friendly" bugs who like to hitchhike a ride into my house with me or my dogs....LOL! I just pick them up and toss them back out the door :-) But for people who don't live near water, their size and scary appearance freak a lot of folks out...LOL!!

I used to live in Algonac, Harsons Island area and they are really bad there especially around 4th of July and the Pickerell tournament. It's terrible riding rides at night with the lights cause those fish flies just love them. I don't seem them at all in Otisville and I sure don't miss them.

They are out in Houghton Lake. Not full hatch yet, but starting. Memorial Day weekend the stone flies were hatching in Cheyboygan

We don't have them yet in Omer. By the way, what's up with those names? We get May flies in June and June bugs in May! We ought to fire the naming guy!

I remember camping at Higgins Lake and those bugs would be plastered all over the bathrooms!

Fish Flies are May Flies. They start to appear around Lake St. Clair around this time. They can get really annoying around the peak times as they collect around lights. Businesses have to sweep them aside so customers can get inside the buildings and they tend to smell like dead fish. They also make a very yukky popping sound when you step on them.

It makes running VERY interesting. At first, I try to dodge them. After awhile I just give up and put up with the popping noise, LOL.

Not sure what you are talking about, but it sounds intriguing!
