glad that it stopped raining... it flooded the football stadium, literally millions of gallons in the stadium, and just a few feet below the bottom of the goal posts. One of the roads in the area fell apart, and.... its been interesting. Glad we are not super close to any of the rivers or lakes.

glad that Mom is looking like she feels better. Hoping that keeps up.

Glad for sweet Rosy's company on my drive today. She got to meet people and give them high fives. Such a good girlie.

Grateful for:

Mom's cataracts surgery finally in the process of being scheduled (It was quite a bit of work to make that happen!)
Plans under way to remove fallen tree that is pressing on the fence. Unfortunately we can't afford to help our neighbor out by taking the whole thing out for her, but at least we can get it off our fence and keep Rosy safe.
That Mom is feeling a tiny bit better today after a bad couple of days
And that it is Monday, start of a new week, good things to be accomplished this week

Thankful to be here this Monday afternoon. I met with my orthopedic surgeon this morning. The news wasn't what I had hoped. I will have to have another replacement of my knee on July 2. There are no guarantees that will work. If my ligaments continue to stretch, he will do a second surgery to create a mechanical ligament -- basically a hinged rod connecting the tibia and femur. In spite of unwanted news, I have much to be grateful for, including:

~ I now know what comes next so can make concrete plans
~ family brought dinner to our house last night so I could participate
~ messages from kids, nieces and friends this morning
~ lots of support
~ a knee brace that fits
~ I don't have to wait long for the surgery
~ surgeon's coordinator is a trusted liaison
~ will still be able to teach classes
~ all is well

On this Sunday, my gratitude includes all of this and so much more:

-A quiet, peaceful day
-Recognizing how much I prefer to have no TV or music on so often, just enjoying the silence
-To be spending the rest of my Sunday afternoon at my favorite coffeehouse playing my favorite word game with a friend
-Making a dear friend happy on her 76th birthday yesterday, even if it meant going to listen to blues after dinner when I really wanted to go home
-Dancing for the first time in 5+ years, one song, very interesting
-Always so happy to come home to the kitty girls

Have a great afternoon all,
Stephanie

Grateful today
* for the slow, but steady progress I’m making in clearing out my possessions.
* For a late night skinny-dipping in the privacy of my own home. I will definitely miss that when I move!
* for the smell of star jasmine that permeates my back yard and the front walkway to my porch.
* for air conditioning
* for my quirky husband, who continues to take care of me financially.
* Four sweet red strawberries and shortcake

I feel like the prodigal son here! Although I don’t post with any regularity, it does not mean that I am less filled with gratitude. First of all, I am so thankful that ANN started this months thread. I totally forgot! And… I will be out of the country on 1 July, and I am hoping someone will step up on that date as well.

My life has been incredibly full, and busy… And I am thankful for so many things.

* That almost 6 years after my husband’s death, I was finally ready to purge the remaining material possessions he’d collected over the years.
* That after filling a huge dumpster, giving away, and donating items, my garage is almost empty.
* That I continue the process of weeding out as they go from room to room.
* that it took the purchase of a beautiful new home to inspire me to let go…
* That I was able to sell my current home without stress, and to apply the funds to keep my new house payment low.
* That Maha and Adelaida visited. Not only did we have lots of “swim time”, but they also had a chance to tour the model home with me.
* That this hideous heat wave is finally subsiding… I am most thankful for my pool.
* Yet next week, a dear friend and I are honoring our commitment to travel together again, taking our dream trip to Scandinavia and the Baltics!
* That last night, I found a school with a grassy soccer field and shady trees less than a mile from my new home. Tiger Lily will have her playground!
* That I have a loving friend to care for my precious dog when I travel internationally.
* For my amazing son. He astounds me every day.

Grateful for:

When I say, "Please stop saying... " that my family doesn't snap at me and get defensive. They are good role models for defusing tense situations and worry.

That I was reminded of the fact that when someone is angry or upset, saying something as simple as, "you sound like you're having a bad day" in a sympathetic voice can help them express what is upsetting them in a more understandable way. The power of the right word at the right time can work wonders.

That an unexpected check resolved some financial issues I am experiencing lately. Miracles abound everywhere if you look for them. We are blessed.

Oh no, Sandra! You made it through the UK, then came home to dislocate the knee? Wishing you speedy recovery!

-Just a normal day, I want to be as grateful for those as I am the stellar days
-Always having a Plan B (leftover freezer meals I cooked) if I don't feel like cooking and even a Plan C if there's nothing in the freezer
-A clean house .... aaaaah
-Lawn mowed and hedges trimmed; finally, maybe some lawn normalcy after "the rains"
-Being supportive of one of my artist friends in a small way (ordered her latest book that I missed when I kept trying to make it to one of her readings and couldn't make it happen)
-Having a chat with Cassie; apparently my cat talk is good enough to respond to
-Brushing sweet Cleo, my blue-eyed Siamese beauty
-Rosie and her ball ... and the games we play ...
-Heading for Plan C, grateful I can blow off cooking tonight, then to my comfortable bed

Have a great evening all,
Stephanie

This morning I'm particularly filled with gratitude for all of this, yet so much more:

-Starting my morning by stopping/putting on emergency flashers and escorting a large family of Canadian geese (4 babies, 3 teens and 4 adults) across a busy city street, even doing a U-turn to make sure from the opposite lane that none of them got hit due to driver inattention emoticon emoticon
-A wonderful organic farmer's market shop: arugula, French butterhead lettuce, Aphrodisiac strawberries, asparagus, freshly milled whole wheat flour and eggs emoticon emoticon emoticon
-Planning what I'm cooking to go with these delightful fresh freggies (two recipes)
-Getting 30 minutes of weeding done in the front while it was in shade and still cooler out (tonight will be work in the back/water gardens) emoticon
-Double water lily blooms (possibly triple soon)
-Phone walk and talk date with my little sister shortly
-Watching my three sweet kitties dozing as I move about inside and outside, one of the joys of being home! emoticon emoticon emoticon

-Trader Joe's shop done on the way home
-Finding organic strawberries that I could smell when I walked in the door of the store!
-Compliments from two people today on my weight loss
-Being able to have a quiet night at home with the kitties (no plans)

Have a great evening all,
Stephanie

Rosy is MUCH better today, so happy!

And I gave helpful advice which was useful and on point. So glad that worked out!

Helped Mom feel better. So challenging at times, but today, everything worked out ok. Hard dealing with her memory loss, but at least she is aware of it, and isn't arguing or fighting about it. Whew....

Thankful for:

good progress made on cleaning and organizing projects, much more to be done, but oh, what a sense of accomplishment!

For a good chiropractor, whose goal is to get me to the point where I am not coming in so often

For the right exercise to help me feel better and get more things done

And as always and forever, my family
