grateful
for Sunday gatherings, always an invitation to think
for friends that love to read
to come home to find M moving furniture around and being able to laugh
for a nice nap
for motivation to clear some unwanteds from a closet

Old news for those here, maybe, but Just ran across this article and thought the one about mindfulness, meditation, and gratefulness records was interesting.

On this day: Grateful that, my mother still wishes to make her own decisions and take her own path, even when I don't agree with them. Grateful that I am learning to be still and listen, everyday. And really grateful for the reminder from a canine behavioral specialist that when our dogs don't do what we want, sometimes we are giving them the wrong signals, saying the wrong things, and that we need to be mindful to our dogs, who try so hard to understand what we are doing and to do what we want....

The quote: "Writing down what you're grateful for won't just improve your mood. In one study, scientists found that people at risk for heart failure who started a daily gratitude journal reduced biomarkers for heart disease in eight weeks. Other studies have found that gratitude writing for 10 weeks helped study participants become more optimistic, and also increased the amount they exercised while reducing the number of visits they made to doctors. If you'd like to start a daily gratitude writing habit that benefits others, too, consider tapping out a quick thank you note: When University of Pennsylvania researchers had people write thank you notes, the writers' happiness scores not only increased, but gave them feel-good benefits that lasted a whole month."

I've been a little AWOL from SparkPeople but not from gratitude! Every day when I wake up I thank God for all He's done in my life. Even when I feel slightly down from time to time, all my "blessings" overwhelm me!

Yesterday early in the morning I got a little text from my middle son (that one that wandered a few years back), telling me he'd been to the hospital in the night with a horrible ear infection. The doctor gave him a prescription to fill and said it would cost $300. My boy asked me how I always found good prices on such things and what to do. I made a few suggestions, but from thousands of miles away, I could do little but hope and pray.

I decided I would not worry and if need be, I'd send my babe some money to help with the expensive medicine. Sometime after lunch I got another text message. My son's wife had gone after the prescription at the little local drug store I suggested. The medicine only cost $40! My son commented that he didn't know why.

I am thankful.

when there's good news
to be forging a different relationship with my appetite for food

Grateful
* To have this site to "come home to"....
* For the crazy wonderful schedule that I have. And for feeling pushed to the brink to make decisions to eliminate less meaningful events from my calendar.
* For finally having clean air and cool nights
* For keeping up with exercise program
* For being in a position to help family members in need
* For all of you, who have touched my heart and my mind with your faithfulness in the practice of expressing gratitude. The sharing of our stories has created such wonderful bonds....

Grateful for... deciding not to go out and do a class with my dog. I feel overscheduled....

And really grateful for a meditation room located at the community college, which I used while attending the conference. A much needed mindful break.

Grateful for surviving the 'college' I went to this weekend (Master Gardeners).
For understanding (because of my learning style) why some aspects of it don't work well for me, and not blaming myself for an inability to sit still and pay attention... so relieved to UNDERSTAND and not wonder why I have trouble with some of these things.

Grateful for a safe return home and beautiful puppy Rosy to greet me. And very grateful for health improvements in everyone at home.

- to be back at Spark People after a long absence
- to have arranged visits for my mum to come see our new home, and for us to stay near her at Christmas
- for the amazing matrix opal pendant hubby bought me at the markets today
- for a friendly neighbourhood party last night (even though I ate way too much)

Tonight I'm grateful for:

-Three nights of a 20-minute light recumbent bike program for starting my knee back into things slowly
-Fitbit showing me how solidly I slept last night after getting back to even a small amount of exercise

-The chance to see my dearest friend again; it's been too long and Amarillo is too far away to make it happen often
-Getting my 10,000 steps today; it's been more than 2 weeks and this knee ailment has been really making me miss my walking (which will be put to the test this weekend)
-My comfortable bed that I will crawl into soon, complete with kitties waiting for me

Goodnight all,
Stephanie

Tonight I'm grateful for:

-The feel of gentle raindrops falling softly on my arm
-Petting the soft fur coats of my cats after a day at work
-A trustworthy (of many years) tree person to call for work needed before winter; the branch down in the driveway when I got home was my reminder
-Being able to help a neighbor in a small way
-Hilarious card from a dear old friend, made my day
-Paying attention to what my body says to me

Have a great evening all -

Stephanie

Tonight I'm grateful for:

-The counsel of a trusted friend (my former yoga instructor, working on her Ph.D. in sports health) to help me start back into exercise and not mess my knee up as it's healing
-Waiting out a downpour at my favorite coffeehouse, soon to be closing so I'm taking advantage while I can
-A light 20 minutes tonight on the recumbent bike at home
-Frozen peas, my best friend for icing after each time I work the knee
-These sweet kitty girls of mine and our ways together, different with each
-My soft, warm and comfortable bed, calling me now

Goodnight all,
Stephanie

This morning I'm grateful for:

-Paid holiday weekends, one benefit of still working
-Rekindling a friendship with someone I lost touch with many, many years ago
-Cooking dinner last night for a friend
-Roasted fresh asparagus with garden fresh cherry tomatoes from a friend's garden thrown in the pan at the end, what amazing color (the "eat the rainbow" concept, for sure) and taste
-Just enough asparagus and tomatoes left over after putting together a care package for me to make a tartine for dinner tonight
-Morning kitty talk and our morning treat rituals, the slower version since it's a holiday

Have a great day all,
Stephanie

All is well. I’ll see more of you next month!
