Grateful today
* For my dear gardener, who has been unreachable for the past few weeks. That he has not been ill as suspected, or injured, but simply out of town helping his own parents deal with new situations in their lives.
* That the job started a few months back is finally being completed today.
* For him NOT raising rates in the 4 1/2 years Ive had him.
* For his crew. Always on time. Always do a good job. Always respectful. Always smiling!
They are ALL a gift to me!
* For the new (refurbished espresso machine that just arrived)
* That I was easily able to reschedule some things so that I can go with a friend to her surgical consult

Cyber-friends -- it's been 10 days of transitions -- difficult and joy-filled. My mother asked me to come and help her figure out how to move forward as both she & my dad deal with cognitive decline. I canceled my sessions and went up that day. In 8 days, I/we looked at 3 assisted living facilities, interviewed 5 home care agencies, signed a home care contract, signed up for lifeline, spent 7 hours in the ER, had my car towed in a snow storm and met my less than 24 hour old great nephew Nolan. On the work front, I lost two clients -- one I was relieved to lose and one who was sent back to her father against her wishes -- then ran away. This morning, we made the difficult decision to put our beloved kitty to sleep. She developed an aggressive cancer just 8 weeks ago that has caused her great pain. Also today, I learn my daughter has job offers in London, Paris & Auckland. Old age, death embarking on a new job and new birth -- makes one think about my next transition..In the midst of all these changes, I give thanks for ....

~ sweetie who I love and who loves me
~ a home I cherish where I can recharge my batteries and renew my soul
~ my parents trust me to put their best interests first
~ home care is an option & they can stay in their own home, hopefully until they pass
~ brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces & nephews who love and appreciate my help
~ adult children who check on my well-being and love me dearly even when I annoy them
~ supportive co-workers
~ a life worth living
~ all is well ... life is good

shine,
sandra

Tonight I'm grateful for:

-Trader Joe's having my beloved Sky Valley Heirloom Oranges still, and big ones; last batch was small and I feared the season was ending
-My annual performance review all being very positive
-Those three sweet, loving, funny, adorable kitty girls I live with, my best little friends and exercise buddies
-Instituting TV/workout nights again; it works well for me; tonight: The Amazing Race
-My cousin's Facebook post bringing back such fond memories of my trip to Paris and Musee d'Orsay
-My oldest nephew being one of 6 kids picked for poetry team from his school; based on the recent video my brother shot of him performing his work, it was a wise choice

Goodnight all,

* For the most amazing journey through Myanmar, for the opportunity to make such good friends, learn the history of the country/culture, and experience first hand the kindness, warmth and spirituality of this little nation.
* For surviving the past two weeks after coming home to a malfunctioning water heater and broken espresso machine, only to have my best friends mom pass away and finding my Amazon account and credit card hacked a couple of days later.
* That NOW, the dust has settled, hot water is abundant, trip to southern CA was uneventful, and my office is almost cleared after collecting any and everything for four years!
* For my son who is simply amazing.
* For my best friends suspicious growth NOT being cancer!

Tonight I'm grateful for:

-Feeling very pleased with myself about how I handled all the sugar that was at work ALL WEEK, or should I say "didn't handle all the sugar." Ha!
-Proud of taking my rear end down to the gym at work today after I finished with my deadlines, I haven't visited there in far too long and they have things I don't have at home
-An overall really good week
-Breakfast and dinner plans with friends tomorrow, and I have it all scoped out on how I'm going to handle it
-Hanging at home tonight with my kitty girls
-A healthy dinner I already cooked and logged
-A warm, soft bed in the midst of low temps outside, with kitties and a heating pad for comfort

Goodnight all,
Stephanie
