Happy Birthday, Ann - I hope you bought yourself LOTS of pretty flowers of all kinds - enjoy!!

(and we got a few other folks hanging round here that have some upcoming birthdays this month ...)

Tonight this is what I'm thinking is pretty great in my life:

-Nice dinner out tonight, getting everybody (won't name names) out of the house for awhile
-Setting my intentions (again, last weekend didn't go so well) for excellent exercise both days - personal training session Saturday noon and Sunday night yoga
-A weekend to shape and form into what I want it to be (I hope, anyway)
-Maha and I setting intentions to catch up this weekend (miss ya!)
-Nice phone chat with my sister this week, and being able to relay the possibility of Katie and Kelly, sister kitties with a very special birthday
-My comfortable home and the life I lead in it

Goodnight all ...

Welcome Nonie, we are all glad to see you here!

On this sunny, bright, blue sky day I am mindful of many blessings in my life including...

~the opportunity to sit near a window in the vitamin D rich sunshine and meditate
~the Dr. Oz show yesterday reinforcing healthy lifestyle and eating habits
~left-over eggplant parmigana and broccoli for dinner
~trying to live fearless and with love remembering the old children's round "Row, Row, Row Your Boat"..."Life is but a Dream."
~for the tip to sprinkle chili powder on the suet feeder so the birds eat it but our fat squirrels won't
~it's Friday and weekend plans to work on projects with DH
~all of YOU and your inspiring posts here

Wishing each of you a very special and wonderful weekend!

Today I am thankful... I DIDN'T GET ON THAT SCALE!!!

I am thankful for a weekend to come that will be mine to do with as I will...

... for choosing to eat clean after a day of TERRIBLE transgression...

... for what appears to be time to get some stuff in my new office put away since the move happened in November and I have been living amongst the boxes for far too long...

... for catching up on some assignments that I will be SO happy to have behind me when they are complete...

... for having a day to get myself back on track because I know in my heart that it's not gonna happen without some help... from ME.

Welcome Nonie, my friend! I am so glad you decided to join us. I hope you find this as inspiring a community (and practice) as I do. Carli_Mae, I am sorry for your loss.

This morning, I am thankful for ...

* my friend Nonie
* early to bed, early to rise (which means time to do homework)
* a plate of spinach and mushrooms for dinner
* dinner tonight with a friend
* no snow to shovel
* standing at the bus stop bundled up for the cold remembering Wisconsin winters (but not missing them)
* my warm apartment
* my down comforter
* my daughter is safe at home in Cape Town from her road trip to Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Botswana
* as always, a life worth living, possibilities and freedom to choose.

Shine,
Sandra

Tonight I am thankful because...
~I did not work but a few moments past clock out time at work (which is at home and very easy to keep doing even after I clock out)
~I had a delicious dinner (a Spark People crock pot recipe): creamy tomato chicken w/ Israeli cous cous (one of my favs)
~I had an amazing walk at lunch today, out along the water where the gray of the day was almost purple
~I have a cat who loves me
~I've almost had 8 cups of water today
~I had a productive day at work AND took care of myself
there are other things, but for now I'll stop there. Good night emoticon

Tonight, my gratitudes include all of this, yet so much more than I could ever list:

-My laughter at Maha and Carli Mae about the HARD HEAD jokes - I admit it; OK~!!!!
-More laughter at Trace ... and my vision of her munching on the treadmill (literally)
-My HARD HEAD (and apparently hard ass) not hurting too bad this morning, which is especially wonderful since I abused them not once, not twice, not thrice, but four times!! (but Carli, you are not alone in a bit of soreness)
-All of YOU on this amazing team, as we come and go through life's ups and downs
-Leftovers (I've never understood how anybody could NOT like them)
-Making it into the office today with few problems, although many around me were spinning their wheels on the ice patches at stoplights
-A productive day at work
-My warm and comfy bed

Goodnight all ...

Yes, AT, Maha sent me here to look at you and Stephanie ... said if I wanted to see some HARD HEADS!

So, I am just grateful that I did not fall on my head yesterday, and I don't think my tailbone, hip, or wrists are broken ... just sore. Didn't realize anything was wrong with my wrists until I started cooking dinner.

Also greatful that SP got me in the habit of batch cooking and freezing like a maniac, since it appears I will be buried in this house for some time. (Oh, btw, batch cooking has done absolutely NOTHING to make me skinny, in case you are wondering).

I will upload pics for you all in a few so you can feel even MOAR grateful!

Um.

Today. I am thankful.

Thankful I didn't eat TWO pieces of chocolate peanutbutter pie... I could have, too... there were only 4 people at a luncheon table set for 10. The pie was on the table when we got there.

And yes, I ate the first bite of mine before I touched the salad of which I also ate 3. Besides mine. That was just a plate of lettuce though.

Hey. Life is uncertain. Eat dessert first, right?

I am having treadmill for dinner, obviously.

Tonight, my gratitudes include all of this, yet so much more:

-Another incredible execise opportunity today, called shoveling, and a great workout it was!!!
-An opportunity for an immediate "pay it forward"/chain reaction experience today. My car repair shop (I've been with for more than 10 years) had a part come in they had ordered for me. It was a slow day and they had the time and inclination to get the repair done when it was slow and I was at home. The OWNER drove to my home with an employee, the three of us shoveled my drive in 20 minutes, the employee drove my car back to the shop, they did the repair work and an oil change, and delivered the car back. Now THAT is what I call service. All the while ... the young rabbi across the street (with a driveway that has a pretty good incline) is very slowly shoveling his driveway ... do you see it coming? Yep, I went over to help him shovel. This started a neighborhood chain reaction, as another neighbor brought his snow blower over and also started helping (there was plenty to go around). The neighbor even acknowledged that I shoveled faster than the snow blower blowed - ROFLOL
-My HARD HEAD (I fell four times on the rabbi's driveway (there's ice under that snow), but the first time was the worst when I landed smack on my bum, then the head slammed to the ground (thank goodness I had on a very thick, wool cap and I am VERY hard-headed) LOL
-Ibuprofen, the 50-something-year-old woman's miracle friend
-That the blizzard has now ended in Kansas City and we are now only left with below zero temperatures expected tonight
-That I was able to "test drive" the roads late today and while the side streets are all pretty bad (other than mine because my neighborhood association pays for extra snow removal), I will actually be able to go to the office tomorrow, first time since Monday

Signed,
Well-preserved in Kansas City

*hearing a lot of my spark buds are safe and sound after the bad storm.
*sun in the afternoon, and jolly employees this morning in the frigid high winds.
*being able to have insurance, and to have found a really good primary care doc. Yes, I am sick again! Think of a waves gentlly frickin' coming in.
*even having a bumm exam, I still got it! I got a good joke off, and had the PA laughing out loud. tmi alert!

I'm feeling blah this afternoon.

Here's a list of all that I should be grateful for:

dishes in the sink - means I had something to eat
laundry hanging out side - means it was a good day for drying and I have clothes to wear
got to ride my bike to a meeting tonight - got one, it will be good for me
got to figure out something for supper - must mean I have something I can fix

Better get to all this while I'm still feeling a little more grateful, eh?

Later ya'll!

I'm grateful... hm... that the ice wasn't any worse?

I guess that's a good place to start... that I saw people on my street who had put cardboard across their windshields on the way home last night... and thought to drag a big plastic garbage bag out and put it across my own before I called it for the night and this morning it took the ice off that had accumulated SO FAST!!!

Only had to scrape at my side windows to be able to SKATE TO WORK!
I guess I can be thankful I skated to work with no banging into other solid objects!

And I'm thankful that that poor dragged out of his hutch at the crack of 0-dark-thirty in Punxatawney creature was told to not see his shadow so we get a early Spring!

I am thankful for enough sense to TRY to get out of this office before 7:30 pm like I did LAST night so that whatever melts today and freezes this evening does it after I get home!

I'm thankful this popcorn I apper to have had for lunch only had 206 calories in the whole bag as I less-than-mindfully nom nom nom-ed it ALL up!

All y'all stay warm and safe and HAPPY B-DAY, BOB!!!!!!!!

* curried cauliflower and potatoes with leftovers

* looking forward to my own office in a week
* almost done wtih the new person stuff at my new internship -- training & getting on the computer systems
* as always, a life worth living, possibilities and freedom to choose

Good morning!

Today I am thankful
*For a little extra time to read all your recent posts and feel the gratitude
*For video chat, which keeps me in touch with the folks at home
*For my brother-in-law and all the other folks who work the snow so the rest of us can be safe and warm
*For my sister's spirit
*For the hope that I'll be able to get a full day of work in today

I'm Sue, and I won't let fear hold me back.

For the outer sense alone perceives visible things, and the eye of the heart alone sees the invisible.
-- Richard of Saint-Victor

The senses -- the eyes, ears, touch, and taste – are wonderful instruments for observing the outer world. But these instruments function at their best when they are trained. If they clamor for what is damaging to our health, it is not their fault. It is ours, because we haven’t sent them to school.

"Why do you want to eat that?" we ask the palate in exasperation. "You know it’s going to add to the pounds."

"I can’t help it," the palate replies. "You never trained me."

It may take a long period of education, but the senses can be trained. Then, the palate might clamor briefly for the chocolate mousse, but a friendly "Careful!" brings it back to the fresh strawberries.
-- Eknath Easwaran

Gratitudes this crisp Tuesday eve ----
* For my energy which is taking me through LONG days and crunch time, in preparation for the new performing arts center (ribbon cutting on Friday!)
* That I have been offered a pretty big job at the center....with just enough flexible hours for play money on retirement.
* Speaking of retirement, did I mention I only have 34 working days (and 57 calendar days) until I do???
* For my snuggly kitty, Santo Piano, who is already 9 months old, fat and furry, and such a love
* For the sweet email from my son. For his strength, being the rock of his family, during times of stress
* For being able to live in CA....I won't mention our weather, because Vivian already did...and yes, I am thankful for it!

Today I am GRATEFUL.
For living in an area where snow rarely falls and it is "cold" when my thermostat reads 61........
For a meet up with spark friends last evening that was well received by others as well. Planning our next event.
For all that is given me from within and without.
For the friends I have here on spark people that keep me motivated, entertained and coming back to this wonderful space.

Today I am grateful

*For a heart that is growing bigger

*For an ego that is slowly shrinking

*For a big, beautiful brain that thinks TOO MUCH, but which I'm *sure* can learn to quiet itself eventually

*For my marred skin, which reminds me that today is better than some days I've seen

*For a face that shows me from its wrinkles that I laugh more than I furrow

I'm Sue, and I won't let fear hold me back.

This icy/rainy day I am glad to see this first day of February! and YOU!

Especially identify with LESSBIGBOB's gratitude of:
-*not having been sick or injured for all of December and January, amazing!!! First two months in a row in two years!

AND to that, I add mine own:
-another day! we tend to forget that NOW is all we really have
-knowing that above helps me savor this here now
-daily readings that remind me when my mind wanders too far back or too far forward!
-that I got my tax papers together and ready to go
-that my car is warming up and HOPEFULLY de-icing so I can get the papers where they need to go.
-COFF-Whhhhheeeeeeeeeeee!

There always has to be one who misses the beginning of the new month. OK, I admit it ... it's me. I posted on January AFTER Kathy opened February so you'll find my post both places.

This morning I am thankful for ...

* Bob is back! Looking down grinning from ear to ear
* rain not ice, like north of us. You all have my prayers.
* spending the afternoon with a friend I haven't seen in 10 years
* GETTING CABLE INTERNET TODAY
* in case you didn't hear, I'm getting cable internet & I'm so excited
* I'm getting 18 TV channels -- an added perk
* said no to an invitation -- working on setting healthy boundaries
* the sound of rain pouring out of the down spout
* as always, a life worth living, possibilities & freedom to choose.

Shine,
Sandra

Happy Birthday month to me, Happy Birthday month to me, Happy Birthday month, Happy Birthday month, Happy Birthday month to me!!!! And many morrrrrrrrrrrrre!

Thought Id quietly sneak back in, without drawing attention to myself and with no fan fair!

Today I am super duper thankful for my Thanksgiving group friends!!!! ps. and their patience. Figured I better high tail it back here, while the getting was good.

Today I am thankful for: (regular duper)

*the birds chirping so joyously, early Saturday morning as I left for work.
*the sunshine on Sunday, and being able to take a good walk in it- mum to Ortho. Docs.
*not having caught my wives cold, 4 days and counting.
*still being married after I left her some food and backed away. I might have said something about leaving food at the lepper colony- ala Ben Hur. I am so worried about getting sick.
*album, afore mentioned Saint mentioned to me. Actually its another album by the artist, since I couldnt remember the right one, Miles Davis, Kind of Blue wow! The one she recommended is Birth of Cool, next for me.
*not having been sick or injured for all of December and January, amazing!!! First two months in a row in two years!
*posting here among friends! (Covered in the Super duper thang, but figured it might be smart to throw another one in!).
