Today I am thankful

~ for REALLY low humidity... about 80 degrees... sunny and a perfect day for walking Mooville...

~ for a really pretty well-done spiffing up of City Island which I haven't walked around since before they finished the new ball park... and it was a perfectly pleasant stroll around a city park in the middle of the Susquehanna River... I make fun of this town but there ARE many worse places...

~ for the addition of the City Island tour making the Big Walk a full FIVE miles for me and the Little Pickles... we are WOMEN OF STEEL!!!!

Happy Weekend to all of YOU!

Ay...a Happy Weekend, a Happy Weekend...YAY!

Grateful for:
- it's Friday and I got out the time I'm suppose to!
-nothing eventful at work today...started well, ended well.
- enjoyed a nice Friday after work...doing some fun things. Walking into a neighborhood store, discovering delish hummus, getting a taste of a yummy hand-made icecream that's full of vanilla bean flavor, looking into cute stores, buying a FEW new clothes for work at a super clearance price - and it looks great!
-that I can do ALL these things because my health is good...and I can't ever be more grateful.
-sweet Jasmine (my cat- that you see in my profile pic) greeting me at my door.
-AIRCONDITIONING
- Relaxing evening and going to bed now..ready to be up for Saturday morning yoga class!

Today I am thankful for:

being able to post this. I got sick last night with diverticulitis and went to an after hours clinic and got meds to slow it down. Unfortunately I got sick on pay day and have been at the office all day doing payroll- no office person right now. So I made it and can post to thanks and my page before I woddle out. I am really glad I can get back on Spark!

for the diverticulitis- I am trying folks. It will make me tighten up my diet and get past the last couple of months "allowances."

my foreman who is going to follow me home and help me walk up to the door of my house. She really is a great help.

Good night friends, have a great weekend.

Take care! Bob

After a long three days out at our remote, primitive island camp with 30 kids and 16 crazzzy counselors, I'm glad for:
a bed (we sleep in hammocks there)
hot water (only cold there)
a great, long afternoon nap
food I froze in prep for these recuperation days
iced sweet tea!

I am SO thankful it's Friday and I can sleep this weekend I can't even express myself properly!!!

I am thankful that it really DID cool down last night so I got to throw open the windows and sleep like a child and I even got to bed EARLY... And there just aren't enough thanks in the world for that!

I am thankful for a day... TOMORROW... when I can get up at the crack of oh-dark-thirty... walk 4 miles with the Little Pickles and then NOT have to rush around like an idiot to get to work!

I will also get to travel to the next town over to help my Aunt balance her checkbook and pay her bills and get to the bank and pick up her trillion TV dinners that she insists she has to have because otherwise, she'd be bouncing checks all over town and this way I get to make sure she isn't spending all her money on things like cigars and hookers... I MEAN...

Happy Weekend to you ALL!

This evening, as I prepare to lay my head down, I want to end by day also by sharing a few of my many gratitudes:

-Fresh strawberries, quite possibly my very favorite fruit of all, or is it pineapples, or apples, or blueberries ... LOL
-Bob's surgery going well with good news to come to those with patience! :-)
-A few hours of total silence to myself tonight, a rare treat
-My work week coming to an end so I can relax a bit
-My partner, my family, good friends

Have a great night everybody!!

Late thanks to Kathleen for the quote: * Emotional pain that brings awareness, STLRZGRRL I have been meaning to tell you I love your profile px, great news on your scores KALIGIRL, my humble prayers are with you and your mother Sandra as she has her surgery.

Today I am thankful for:

my therapists quick ability to work with logic and/or feeling and switch back and forth with me and bring them together- another kick ass session!

my computer consultant for teaching me new things while he fixes my machines. His patience, when I ask him, to slow down to my speed from his usual light speed is much appreciated. I love learning things in general and with him I learn a lot about computers and a lot about how I can better train my employees. I see how they feel when learning from an expert who has done everything so many times it seems obvious and easy and needs to slow down to their speed.

the Rush 2112 video from the Show of Hands tour. Great version! Crank it up!!!

someone to go home to

a week that hasn’t been so draining.

Take care! bob

Today, I am thankful for air conditioning again...

For getting up early enough to do my sit-ups before the morning walk with the Pickles which was STILL early enough to get our 2 miles walked in time for a little bitty rainshower... more of a spritz, really... that cooled us down as it was 14,000 percent humidity in Mooville at 6 AM!

Jeeze Louise!

I'm also thankful for the Maha sighting I got in my mailbox last evening... I know she is safe and sound in the arms of the Universe somewhere...

and I know in my heart that all of you are, TOO!!!

STAY COOL, YINZ GUYS!!!!

Thank you so much for all the kind words, team. You make me very grateful to be a part of this community. Also, thankful...

*to my boss and coworkers, who are allowing me a lot of flexibility during all this

*to the Strait of Juan de Fuca, which is providing me soothing wave sounds on my afternoon walks

*to the tremendous pine and cedar trees, which are providing soothing smells and calm retreats

*to the residents of Pt. Townsend, WA, who, while they have no idea what's going on for us, just seem to be consistently pleasant, kind, and smiley.

I'm Sue, and I won't let fear hold me back.

On this late Wednesday evening I am mindful of very many blessings in my life and especially give thanks for:

~safe travel today without the forecast thunderstorms
~gifts from cousins-sentimental (a bottle from a dairy that has a family connection) and useful (broken concrete to shore up the creek bank in the back yard)
~opportunity to shop at an organic grocery and stock up

I will be away from Sparkpeople for several weeks focusing on some projects. I wish you all continued success and much happiness. Elaine

SFERENTI my prayers for the passing of your dear one, and my joy at the opening up and connections with your extended family. Sandra, sorry for beating you to the punch Monday. Trust me, it won’t happen again. Lynn Anne it sounds like a perfect, romantic trip. I am still working on the no humidity concept, however.

Today I am thankful for:

a good result from my surgery Monday! (details ad nauseum on my page on the read more section.)

Eye surgeons- I am still amazed at all they do inside your eye with lasers, lenses, etc.

all the support I have gotten with the eye problems, especially to this group, which really turns out to comment, and send goodies and well wishes. I also am excited to add some new friends from this group- yeh! friends.

Maha why ya’ll botherin' with Niagra Falls, head south and visit yu’uns suth-unn (southern for those who are foreigners) Sparkers!

I don’t believe it, but being able to go back to the office. I know I complain all the time, but it’s nice to have the “option”, and I had to come in to Spark on my computer and be here for my new arrival.

Das Uber Chair has arrived- strike up the Wagner!!! The new X3000 (actually don’t know the model or who made it) adjustable office chair just came in and thank god my choice of fabric color was the right one! Not to mention- Luvvv the fabric texture! I have always had the odd Office Depot office chair, but with my back continuing to get worse, my wife gave me the chair for ??? Birthday, Christmas, ’09, ’10??? Love her to pieces, but she is not very quick to carry through things- guess which one of us is the type A.

the beautiful voice of Heidi Talbot (Album is Distant Future). This is a solo album, she is the sometimes lead of the band Cherish the Ladies. “Just different ways of getting through the day….”

a gentle if albeit brief shower- my crews will hate it because the humidity will go up, but we need the rain.

time to Spark, and rest.

Oh, friends. I'm afraid I've had another passing in my life. My mother-in-law died suddenly last week. And while this is a very sad time, it is also a reminder of all I have to be thankful for. For instance:

*Although it was initially a challenge for her, my mother-in-law truly opened her heart to me over the years, and she loved me like a daughter

*As I work to put her house in order, I keep finding little items that she obviously got with her daughter and I in mind, reminding me of her caring spirit

*I have had a chance to meet my brother-in-law's brand new wife, and she is a wonderful addition to the family

*I have a chance to observe my adopted family at their best. These people are so incredibly kind and generous with each other!

I'm Sue, and I won't let fear hold me back.

Greetings, Maha, Elaine, and all --

Today I am grateful for...

* Emotional pain that brings awareness.
* The ministrations of my friend and neighbor.
* "A good drying day," as my 90-year-old neighbor says, so I can dry my laundry on the line in a flash.
* A good and cheering visit with someone from my extended circle of friends who will be building me a small desk.
* That my freelance project is going well.
* That my boss at the college where I am an adjunct was understanding when I said I needed to back down to one class.
* For a job starting next month that will be a place to be with friends, do work that is interesting and won't require a big learning curve, and will position me for getting a small mortgage should I need it after I divide property with my soon-to-really-be-ex.
* Another opportunity to go to my favorite beach (4 hours away) combined with a workshop on spiritual finance and a relatively cheap place to stay.

Be well.
Kathleen

Greetings dear friends!

I LOVE being here for a "minute" reading some of your gratitudes and expressing my own with you all, rather than in my journal. Because I'm in a roaming area and will have a fight about charges from Sprint I won't try to do a blog for now, but I AM taking time for THIS!

Gratitude ABOUNDS~~

On this early Tuesday morning, I am grateful for many things, including:

* tomato soup like my grandma used to make it from fresh tomatoes straight from the garden (can you tell it's one of my comfort foods)

* a productive day yesterday (only two papers remaining and a final). Done for the summer next Tuesday. YEAH!

* a busy, busy week, mixing social and schoolwork (not too busy, I hope). A weekend of nothing but studying for that blessed final.

* Up early so I can get one more paper done before I start my day

* as always, a life worth living, possibilities and freedom to choose.

May your day shine brightly, may the humidity be low and the temperatures moderate.

I've so missed reading your guys' posts!

Catching up from vacation...

The past week my gratitudes have been so many, but include...

~ Realizing my dream of staying in the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, MI. My favorite movie, "Somewhere In Time" was filmed here and I named my daughter after Jane Seymore's character:D

~ Our stay being every thing I imagined and more!!!

~ Picture perfect weather. No humidity. I could ride my bike, walk, stay out in the sun all without acting up my MS heat intolerance!

~ Meeting 2 SparkFriends, ANNERSBEES & JANICEMC, on the island for the very first time:D

~ Eating Creme Brulee for the very first time and LOVING it:D (Not to mention the 5 course dinners & every other thing I ate!)

~ Enjoying every morsel I ate with no guilt or remorse.

~ Wonderful bike riding around the island & hiking up the cliffs.

~ Dancing with hubs to the house orchestra while all dressed up in my dress and his suit after dinner. (I can count the times I've danced with hubby on the fingers on one hand in over 27 years.)

~ GETTING TO CROSS THE FIRST THING OFF OF MY BUCKET LIST!!!

Ohhh... LOOKIT allllll the things there are to be thankful for... I saved 2 whole days worth up!!...

The highlights would have to be:

~ Thx for the rain that cooled off Mooville FINE-A-LEE!!!

~ Thx for a little dog who got her butt up and out the door with me at 5 AM Saturday morning so we could get our Big Walk in before it got any hotter than it already was... and it WAS!!!

~ Thx for the first 2 tomatoes of the season... not quite ripe enough to pluck and pop into my mouth yet... they're the little bitty ones... but they are red-ing up nicely... all the others are green as grass but when they start, I will have enough to pile on top of Not So Big Bob because I know he needs MOAR!!

~ Thx for a weekend of doing not very much... because rest. is. GOOD!

~ Thx for a Monday that began cool... sunny... and ready to start off a week of getting LOTS DONE!!!!

Hey Less Bob, you took my place. I usually go first. Ah well, I'll give it to you today since you're having surgery and I slept in. Second is better anyway, then I'm not first in line for the tigers (ala Shel Silverstein).

This morning I am grateful for ...

* a magical afternoon on the boat. The weather was perfect. It was fun to be a part of Fritzie's family for the day. Only bad part (or funny) was I tore the crotch out of my swimming suit getting out of the boat. Had to be creative to get back in.

* realizing the depth of my anger (the first part of expelling anger is to acknowledge and accept its presence)

* four papers and a final to go (yesterday it was five). Hope to knock out three today.

* fresh heirloom tomatoes from my garden

* the first cup of coffee in the morning

* as always, a life worth living, possibilities and freedom to choose.

Shine,
Sandra

Thanks for the quote Chris, my dreams have taken a beating the last few years, but are coming back. Stephanie, don't tempt me!!! The truck is backing up with a load of 'maters, oh! peppers are coming in also.

Ladies and Gentleman, today I am thankful for:

being first to give thanks today!

being able to not hesitate when I say, who will be driving me today after the surgery. It must be so hard to be alone, not have transportation, or a job where you can take off and help your loved one. I am so thankful for the "boss" ! (ie. wife).

weirdly: sleep apnea, for making me feel stress free that I would wake up early enough to get the office work I forgot done- hey it's early I am reaching.

our amazing medical and insurance system. With all the many flaws, and problems, especially for the poor xxxxxxxx- ok I won't get started- it does take care of so many of us, and we are so fortunate to live here.

time...... to take off, to post on the site, to rest, to talk with my wife (aka. the boss) on the ride, to have today.

Yo Chris, Dude! Sorry for the whole gender exclusion, lady thang! I really screwed up (guy for faux pas, ladies). I have been off the site for a while and didn’t know another bull had come into the thanksgiving pasture. We’ll get together on barco loungers, with a brewsky, and cuss and spit, while we watch sports.

Thanks for the thoughts Risa! You are a hard act to follow. Stephanie, I might just have a few more tomatoes- how many bushels do you need- to donate for your sandwiches- try a ‘mater sandwich without the rest- yum! Dragonfly, thanks for the support and much luck with putting into action your ideas. I once was telling a meditation teacher about a great new book, and he joked, “Why practice meditation? When you can read about it.” It gave me a great mantra / perspective. We all talk a good game, but walking the walk is where it is at- great for you!!

Today I am thankful for:

caffeine to keep me awake to get things wrapped up before tomorrow’s eye surgery.

my wife for helping me catch things up at the office.

the app store for all the interesting goodies to be had- did I mention I got an iphone- yeh!!! (first smart phone, all others have been really stupid).

Tivo for grabbing my shows for the time I’ll be off recuperating- Tour de’ France, etc.

New friends to meet and discover on Spark.

An end to the Planting season when I leave tonight.

Feeling comfortable to be off- I can’t just schedule to be “off”, I am “off” when I feel things are done for now and in good order, to let my mind let go of work.

Take care! Friends

* finishing one more paper -- just five papers and a final to go
* anticipating a trip to Wisconsin and cooler temperatures
* anticipating with joy (and a little trepidation) meeting a new group of women to see Hair (yes, the 60s musical ... you know the Age of Aquarius) and eat pizza/drink beer
* my morning protein supplement (it's an old friend)
* the challenge of managing flushes until the plumber can get here and remove the roots from the sewer drain pipes (oh my .... the joys of living in an old, beautiful farmhouse)
* as always, a life worth living, possibilities and freedom to choose.

Shine,
Sandra

Nice to check in and feel a rush of familiarity as I catch up with reading the blessings and thanks all of you share here. I’ve spent less time on SparkPeople in recent months and a little more time thinking about how to shift my own focus from aimlessly pondering the future to actually doing something to create it. I’m not entirely clear yet, but I am grateful for the realization that some risks may be worth taking.

I’m grateful for fine weather – finally. Not too hot here, but sunny. Most of the time there’s a nice warmish breeze…and the garden is thriving.

I’m grateful for summer vacations and the opportunities I’ve had recently to meet Spark friends in person and to like them as much face-to-face as I do online.

I’m grateful for the love of and the love in my life and for the technology that allows us to stay connected with other loved ones.

Glad that Bob is finding time to post and on his way to a saner schedule and existence, that Christopher has returned, that Pickles has someone to encourage her and walk her, that Sandra continues to remind us of the basics – “life worth living, possibilities and freedom to choose” – and especially that whenever I return here I always leave with more to be grateful for than I might have been conscious of when I arrived.

It is our sameness that draws us together. It is our differences that help us grow. It is respect that makes this possible.

On this Saturday, just a few of my many gratitudes to share:

-Those awesome local tomatoes from LessBigBob (my favorite: BLATs, bacon/lettuce/avocado/tomato, which I try to not eat very often because of the bacon)
-A 3-hour walk this morning, starting at 7:30 a.m. to try and beat the heat/humidity, which didn't work, so ...
-Hot running water in abundance for a long, leisurely shower after being soaked clean through by the 3-hour walk
-Endorphin highs!!!! :-)
-Friends coming over tonight so we can work on our plans for our upcoming trip to New Mexico

Have a great evening everybody!

Stephanie

Continued good healing / health to your Mother KIMJO1, but I’ll have to get back with you on that taking your own advice idea. I am so, so more proficient at giving it- sooooo…..Sandra I love the theme of your pondering on the movie Inception, I can’t wait to see it. Stephanie, speaking of savoring the local fresh produce could you use some tomatoes, peppers, okra….. Wait! Don’t run away! I helped my employees by giving them some advice and plants this spring and now they are all bringing them in to me, and I also have my own!!!

Today I am thankful for:

The Fatboy Slim album playing on my computer keeping me awake!

Finishing up this very hard and intense week wrapping up jobs, training, and accounting. I am getting things in a good place for me to take off Mon., Tues. after my eye surgery Monday morning. I so look forward to resting and sleeping to start catching up on my rest, so I can start switching back to having a personal life with time and energy for exercise, working on my diet, etc. and not just be working like the last 3 months.

My crews working through this killer heat and humidity!!! They have really worked hard and kept a great attitude through it all!

Did I say I had an iphone? Ha! Luvvvvvv it!

Air conditioning, Air conditioning, Air conditioning-I have been sweatin’ like a pig and barely dragging back in to the office- yeh, AC!

Feeling good enough at the end of this week to checkin’ with my buds or is it buddets on this post! I know the work I am doing on my body / mind is paying off when I can do this after the week I have had. Also my body has been very, very sore this week, but is recovering with the last two days of only ½ days on site. That I could walk this morning and could show my guys work is amazing this late in the season. I have many many aches, but am doing so much better than a year and ½ ago at 400lbs. Take Care! Ladies

Thankful that there is progress in Mom's healing from spinal fusion surgery, although we still have a long way to go. It has been quite the wild ride these past few weeks.

Thankful that I've been able to help the family, and very appreciative that my Dad thanks me for all I do. I never feel like enough, but I tell people all the time to stop underappreciating themselves (stop selling themselves short) so I need to apply those words of advice to me too, I think.

Thankful (very) for the furry ones in our lives that love us so much, make us laugh, and express concern when we're feeling down.

Thankful also to all of you who have sent notes of support and understanding. Thank you!

Kim and Rosy, a heart team

Today I am grateful for all that I have. Taking too much for granted and acknowledging it can be a pivotal point in the plan. Thankful for ten beautiful days on the coasts of Oregon and California, while the valley was enduring a heat wave. Washed with ocean air and fog, peace and calm I feel I can face the world with a smile.

This morning, I am grateful for many things among them ....

* Inception -- a movie that is making me think about to what extent I live in a world of projections and constructed reality

* a thoughtful talk with my daughter yesterday

* a lazy cup of coffee on a Saturday morning

* seeing my personal trainer this morning (I haven't been getting much exercise in this hot, hot weather and since I no longer belong to a gym or pool. Living on a fixed income has its drawbacks as well as joys)

* Not worrying about not knowing (I added one more question to my "not knowing" list this week. My internship supervisor is looking for another job. If he leaves, I will be reassigned probably away from the kids I love working with but perhaps to somewhere I love just as much -- who knows?)

* Beginning to anticipate a 10 day break between semesters while staying "in the moment" enough to finish this summer session. Five short papers and a final in the next two weeks.

* Reading your gratitudes and pondering all that I have to be thankful for

* as always, a life worth living, possibilities and freedom to choose.

Shine,
Sandra
