I don't always post. Sometimes I just can't, but always happy when I can!

Today I'm grateful for:
my clean house - I did the work.
few dishes in my sink.
got my walk in.
my afternoon student didn't show (gave me time for my walk!).
my boys had a great day with lots of friends playing out in front of the house all afternoon.
a newsy note from my sis-in-love.
peace about some decisions.

a little thankful quote to end:

I thank you God for this most amazing day, for the leaping greenly spirits of trees, and for the blue dream of sky and for everything which is natural, which is infinite, which is yes. e.e. cummings

"God demonstrates his own love for us in this... Christ died for us."

It would figure that I would follow Carli here... it's all my fault... she's been hanging around the subversives with me lately and slacking over here...

and... *sighs*... so have I...

I've been here, though... soaking up all of your gratitudes and hoping for them to rub off on me...

I have been having a hard time with the Parker Project... and it's tearing me up...

Almost as much as what was waiting for me in my inbox this morning... which was news that a dear old family friend had passed yesterday...

and REGRET popped up his head...

I'd last spoken to her in September... on the occasion of her 86th birthday... she was a bit... more tired, I will say... than she had been when I had called the time before... but we had a lovely conversation... talked of many things... times with my parents when her husband and both of them were still here... family who had passed... dogs we cared for and worried about... how she was feeling... how busy I was... just... you know... things...

and I hung up not knowing... how can we ever know?... that I would not speak to her with this voice again... not here in this place...

I thought to call a dozen times... but I didn't... and now...

So...

You people have forced me to think... after weeping for her loss... and thinking all these things... to find something to be grateful for so as to honor her and all of you who also bear so much and manage to find a way to the light every day...

Today I am thankful for Pauline...

She was a grace and a beacon of gentle goodness every day of her life... I am thankful for her children who gathered to support her through these years after she lost her husband... and then her dear middle daughter... then a daughter-in-law to cancer...

but she was always so happy to hear from me... to know how I was... we always spent time talking about the animal shelter in the town where I grew up and how great their need was and she always thanked me for taking these 4-legged waifs in.. encouraging me when I was so often discouraged... as I am now...

She was among the last holders of a thin cord binding me to my childhood...

and I am so thankful for her friendship to my mother... to my father and to me... all these years...

Hello, all you gratitude peeps! Kathy just caught me getting side tracked with the "politicos" to which I responded:

"Guilty as charged ... aside from a peculiar and persistent propensity toward procrastination, sleep, and sloth, the rest of my energy has drifted over to the politicos, which is hampering my ability to find gratitudes, so I'll have to work harder on that"

... and magically I discovered a gratitude! Here 'tis:

Grateful for the laughs that come betwixt the awful stuff in talking with my liberal "comrades" ... let me see if I can find one of them to leave here ...

Cowardice asks the question, 'Is it safe?' Expediency asks the question, 'Is it politic?' But conscience asks the question, 'Is it right?' And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but because conscience tells one it is right. ~Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

-Being TOTALLY lazy and dozing off and on all morning (helped by the rain that is currently nourishing our back yard)
-A wonderful weekend, free to play as I wish (and I'm doing lots of wishing!!! LOL)

Back tomorrow ...

Today I am grateful for all that I have. Fresh air, sunshine, glowing friends, lovely fields full of flowers. I am happy that I have my sheets blowing in the breeze this morning. And for the hot cuppa that I enjoyed. Breakfast satisfying and full of veggies. Looking forward to an afternoon doing something perhaps .... nothing.
(I seem to do a lot of that, and it OK)
thankful for the opportunity to read and share others gratitudes here. I very safe place to be. emoticon

This is my first post and I think I'll do a two-parter, only because the day has just started. :)

emoticon MORNING:
I'm greatful (yes I like this spelling better) for the sounds of the lawn mower outside; it means the grass is growing.

I'm greatful for the beautiful birds song that I hear every day; they remind me to keep a song in my heart and enjoy the day for what it brings.

I'm greatful my little boy has finally gotten out of bed because now we can go outside and enjoy the day!

emoticon EVENING
I'm greatful for Google maps on my iPhone; makes finding anything so blooming easy.

I'm greatful for 3D technology; makes watching movies so much for fun

I'm greatful I can lose all the technology in my life and still be happy....perhaps even more so.

Good morning! I'm happy to be among you this morning to be *infected* by the gratitude bug...I can use the contagion today. I'm blessed by so much, including~~

~ I'm SO HAPPY to send CONGRATULATIONS to my dear friend Gina on her marriage!

~ knowing how long Sandra has struggled with the headache, I'm so happy to hear that she woke up without it this morning!

~ enjoying the intense thunder-and-lightening show through the night from the comfort of my bed (the rain is really coming down as I write, but the light-and-sound show has abated)

~ enjoying the possibility of a bike ride with Sandra tomorrow

~ loving the wonderful sentiments of Sandra's gratitude blog today as a cogent reminder of its importance in my life

Blessed be!

Strawberrymoon, I love how you wrote that your gratitudes were written in your heart! That puts into words exactly what I've been doing for a while now. I am a co-leader on another team, and post my gratitudes there. I just mentioned to Sandra that I've been so busy (teaching, exercising, gardening, gardening, gardening!) I haven't made it to this thread much. (In just a few short weeks, I'll be on summer break, and look forward to having more Spark time!) But I've been walking around for months, counting my blessings, feeling amazed by how incredible my life is.

So....Today, I am grateful for:

-Gratitude!
-the rain that is watering my plants.
-Saturday!
-a great cup of coffee.
-a clean, (relatively) clutter-free home.
-financial breathing room.
-the song birds.
-hope.

This morning I am grateful for ...

* LessBigBob's good report on lungs, continued healing of the eye and putting self first
* Maha's not surprisingly good grade in Lat Am Civ
* Strawberry Moon's quick recovery

In my own life, I am blessed to

* wake up without a headache that has plagued me for weeks

* ponder with awe the power of mother nature as I listen to the thunder and lightening juxtaposed against a gentle rain

* grateful for my son's safe arrival in Austin as he dodged tornadoes along the interstate last night

* still basking in the time spent with son on Thursday night

* finished one paper, pulled study materials in preparation for studying for my two finals and ready to start the last paper of the semester. The light at the end of the tunnel is growing brighter.

As always, I am grateful for ...
* a life worth living
* a friend pointing out possibilities and freedom to choose

With gratitude,
Sandra

This dark morning waiting to be born I am thankful for:
-my hot strong cuppa
-my messes on the floor about me calling my name
-the itching anticipation of TAMING those messes
--and the jungle growing outside
-the opportunity to get in exercise into my daily routine again, after a week of sliding back
-the anticipation of upcoming travel adventures out WEST in order to help my college friend/roommate move back here after several decades of separation
-the ongoing preparation and acceptance of Life Changes with the birdies flying the nest in the offing, and the rooster coming home to roost..... emoticon
-the chance to go out and check on my lovely spirea during a lull in the rains emoticon (for YOU, Kathy!)
-the gifts of sharings I know I will receive today in here and in real time!

I've been away several days, but my gratitudes were written in my heart.

Tonight I give thanks for:

an uplifting telephone visit with Gail yesterday

another amazingly beautiful spring day

an excellent night's sleep, including some lucid dreams

waking up easily (unusual and a joy for this oh-so-not a morning person)

meditation first thing

an almond-milk latte afterward

my wise and witty doctor guiding me through a bad patch, which, with his help, I navigated rather quickly

the inspiration of all you posts.

Peace and blessings,

Michelle

Another gorgeous day here on the Western side of the US...Gratitudes abound
* A reasonable bid by an arborist to take down the trees (sob) which are uprooting our cement work
* Being knowing I'll be able to recreate the power point/notes I completed, then lost by failing to hit "save"...It'll give me something to do this weekend!
* A delightful chat to plan a belated birthday for a six year old
* Our own washer and dryer...how we went so long without one!
* 87 degree water

Congrats Michelle on the 10000 steps! What an accomplishment. Sandra I am sorry for you husband's co-worker attempting suicide, but thankful she is alive, though with a long road ahead.

Today I was thankful for:

*my CT Scan of my lungs showing no growth of the nodules found in my lungs last year- yeah!
*finding a second sleep apnea Dr. with very good creditials and best of all a lot of experience.
*for getting back into my new water drinking habit, which was de-railed with the eye problem.
*my meditation suggestion by my weightloss PA. to check in 3 x a day and ask "What can I do for myself now". I realized at one point that I was thinking of the business when I was thinking of me. I then stepped back, checked how I was feeling and checked if I in fact wanted to do what I had come up with. The answer was no. I then came up with what I wanted and then figured out a good business schedule to go with that. Totally opposite of usual, where I rank last after wife, clients, and employees.
*my adjustable tempur-pedic bed, which I am headed for right now- I had a really bad night last night and need the extra zzzz's.

KAT573 enjoy your Magic Carpet ride with your Spiraeas. I like the color and texture of the blue fescue with the other two plant varieties.

The imagery of you all twistin' up and down, round and round is just too much -- I'll laugh every time I think of it today.

This morning I am grateful for ...

* a pleasant dinner with my son, first since February

* my son likes his job of three months (after a rough patch that's a huge gift from the universe)

* his job has HEALTH INSURANCE so we can stop paying COBRA (another gift from the universe)

* he's already gotten a substantial raise (another gift from the universe ... I am grateful to the universe for all of these blessings)

* he invited us back to his house (will wonders never cease?)

* One more paper almost done ... I can see the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel)

* A sad, sad reminder that suicide is not an option. A young co-worker of my husband's attempted suicide this weekend. While she will survive, she will probably be on dialysis the rest of her life. Keep her in your prayers.

* A life worth living
* Possibilities and the freedom to choose

Blessings,
Sandra

THANK you all for your continued sharings on your blessings and your sublimely silly playfulness. It makes my spirit sing!

I missed several days, it seems, in my rush to all day out of town advocacy meetings! SO
-I am grateful for a more relaxing morning and the time to recoup and focus on the home front so long neglected!
-I appreciate the rainy weather coming, altho everything will be overgrown by the time I get to tend to it!
-I was so thankful that my 3rd magic carpet spirea skirting my new baby coralbark maple, did not die but began to put forth tiny leaves weeks behind its two brethren. Soon I will have the privilege of fronting those with blue fescue!
-I so appreciated the time with my adopted mom, both to advocate together, and to lunch together and share our life
-I am so thrilled and appreciative of a new experience coming up that we can share together of viewing a live dance performance down town!
-grateful and appreciative for my son's finding out about, taking initiative, submitting a proposal and winning a research fellowship in his chosen area of study for this summer!
-thankful that we have my second son's car shopping, assessment and purchase behind us!
-thankful to have this morning to share with YOU and to receive your sharings.
FOR ALL OF YOU!

Tonight's Attitude of Gratitude ...

~ safe travels and arriving in my favorite hotel with great staff and a quiet room this time

~ stopping at my friend's eye glass store first and ordering new glasses

~ meeting with a potential new vendor on the way

~ delicious Indian food

~ bed next

~ G-man getting a ticket to the Pens game - which just went into overtime! He's having a great time :)

~ time with my mentor tomorrow and knowing I will walk out with an upbeat, positive plan

~ Sammy being sad I left but knowing that he would sneak into Jamie's room the minute I pulled out of the driveway :) LOL

STLRZGRRL loved the You tube vid of the twist!!! It did hurt my knees, lower back, hip, etc. watching so I think I'll stick with chess!

Today I am thankful for:

*my first good work-out in a month! It felt great to be able to work hard today at water aerobics. We are still being careful, but could do more- yeah!
*seeing the nice post by Maha! I worry at times that I over-do the wise cracks, so it was nice to see she liked it and I loved STLRZGRRL joining in. *no deadline the rest of the week!
*no moans from the ladies, that doesn't leave anybody does it? I am thankful for the first round of the NFL draft tonight. My wife looks at me like I have lost the rest of my mind, when I watch it, but I love hearing the strategy and the evaluations.
*getting more caught up with my sparkmail, from being so behind this last month.
*being reminded of Earthday by the former postings, I have fond memories of the first one.

Happy Earth Day appreciations include:
-Setting ipod on giant singing crystal to heal after doing every techno troubleshooting tip suggested to 'unfreeze' it, without success AND after that crystal 'renewal' it works again.
-taking daily dog walk while ipod rested on crystal and seeing perfect heart shaped puddle to remind me of priorities
-order received along with sweet sentiments
-being only customer at post office when I sent order
and having pleasant chat with clerk
-endearing antics of our dear dogs
-being in a pocket of sunshine and blue skies while watching severe weather reports in other parts of this area miss us

On this lovely day, set aside to honor our planet, I am grateful
* For having been taught to conserve, to protect, and to value the gifts of this earth
* For seeing the joy in my husband's face when I got home last night, and having him share his experience of a solo swim
* For the experience of doing "menial work" and gaining so much appreciation for those whose labors often go unnoticed.
* For Stephanie, who was so generous in her donation to the Susan G. Komen race for the cure. (check out my signature here, in case you want to contribute! On May 8, Smashy and I, plus several friends are walking in Sacramento to help support breast cancer awareness and research. Our team is called "For the Girls")

Thanks for the feedback guys! Have a great day! TOOMUCHBIGBOB???

This morning I am grateful for

* anticipation of a productive day (nothing like deadlines to motivate)

* walking up and down steps without hanging on (finally after knee replacement a year ago)

* improved strength from working with a personal trainer (amazing how much more I can accomplish in a half hour with her than in the same amount of time by myself) and she keeps rehabing my knees so I'm doing things I never thought I would do again

* imagining a different lifestyle to check the fit (like trying on prom dresses)

* missing Ralph my therapist this week (makes me appreciate him all the more)

* recognizing that those who seem to have their act so together face life challenges also (a humbling realization)

* a life worth living

* possibilities and the freedom to choose

Blessings,
Sandra

On this Wednesday evening, just a few of my gratitudes:

-The opportunity to fix and serve dinner tonight at the Ronald McDonald house
-The appreciation I saw on the face of a mother who just looked tired and worn down from a long day at Children's Mercy Hospital with her sick child
-My amazing company, just because I could go to Ronald McDonald house on company time (I would have taken vacation time to do it if I had to!!!)
-The LAUGH I got when the Komen folks contacted me from Sacramento - apparently there are TWO ATs doing the Komen walk. I was fortunate that I could remember the team name ("For the Girls") to get the money credited to the right person
-A co-worker who made a HUGE pan of brownies for me to celebrate my MBA completion (she doesn't know it, but half went to neighbors, more to friends, less to me!!!!)

Goodnight all -

Stephanie

So much goodness here and no time to read and digest it all... G-man just reminded me that our committment to be in bed by 10 each night is just 4 minutes away! LOL So, I will hurry through ... xoxo love yinz guys!!

My Attitude of Gratitude this glorious day ...

~ finding beauty is so many places today

~ sweet church bells playing of all things Clair de Lune by Debussy ... my father's favorite ... I had to pull over and into the parking lot and listen

~ warm sunshine and the ability to tool around with the top down on my car ... another reason I heard the bells in the first place

~ an elderly assistant who works in my office giving ME a hug today ... we've not seen each other for so long since I telecommute ...

~ telecommuting!! WooHooo!!

~ seeing my Pittsburgh God Mother whose birthday was today. She has been employed by my family for over 40 years!

~ compliment from a person who I am blessed to mentor and a great catch up meeting with her

~ lots of great ideas shared

~ final run through of our cha-cha routine for Sunday's Spring Showcase ... this is it!

Today, may I make good decisions that create positive outcomes and may I have wonderful, loving people in my life to share this awesome journey with.

Thankful today for another 'mixed bag' of weather. Sunshine now and looking for a beautiful sunset.
For the items I found at the craft/hobby store to stir some of my creative juices. Watercolor paper for some painting and some lovely fabric for a sewing project. Jewelry pieces to repair and make usable again some earrings found in my jewelry box needing help.
For upcoming dinner out with my honey and some time to view a program he recorded for me.
Continued lessons in patience which I so dearly need.
For all of my friends and their light hearted postings.

OK gratituders...check out our resident Funny Man:

A few days ago he ran this feed status: "LESSBIGBOB had a problem at work, nerves fried."

For that he got comments like:

"Bob -- grilled or broiled only, and besides I don't think nerves are vegetarian, so we'll have none of that!!!" (Bob's vegetarian.)
and
"Fried nerves? No frying allowed! No breading, either...."

And now I find THIS on his SparkPage:

"Should have known better than to say fried with this crowd! Ok, Saturday one of the guys was marinating instead of microwaving, so when I got there the project was half-baked, which got me stewing. When I grilled him on it, I couldn't find the ingredients to cook it right and I boiled over, and then my nerves got sauteed."

As we say here in the south, "This man is too much for JEEEEEE-sus!!!"

Honesty will out! I really like your quote and I double being thankful for regret! Let's do the twist STLRZGRRL?

Today I am thankful for:
*how fresh and clean the air was after the pollen was washed away yesterday. What a cool, beautiful day.
*it not raining on us all day as we finished up for our big deadline tomorrow- I am still drying out cloths.
*how beautiful the gardens were at the project we have been on. Things really are coming together well there, and it was nice to catch my breath and see it.
*Scrubs re-runs for keeping me laughing in this last hour.
*for my wonderful wife to go home to!

grateful for the sharings here, late in the day after an out of town meeting.
thankful for STRGRLZ comments about all of us and our tendency to trespass, which in facing, is the beginning of the path of humility that leads us to the understanding of the need for compassion.
thankful to see the simple appreciations of everyday gifts we have
grateful that I can sit down and rest my cold dry eyes and my burning face and yet be filled with anticipation for my sleep, and then, should I be so gifted, another day to be thankful mindfully, for.

Today I am thankful that all the tail-chasing resulted in the clock winding around to where it was juuuuuust about THIS time yesterday... and still the world turns...

I was given this quote from a wonderful movie "The Big Kahuna" via a blog comment from ZIG2K143 and it sort of adds a bit of commentary to Maha's lesson to us today in that it is possible to become aware of the things that WE have done to someone else... it's a bit out of context because this speech is being delivered in the movie to someone who thinks he has no regrets... but I give it to you raw:

"I'm saying you've already done plenty of things to regret, you just don't know what they are. It's when you discover them, when you see the folly in something you've done, and you wish that you had it do over, but you know you can't, because it's too late. So you pick that thing up, and carry it with you to remind you that life goes on, the world will spin without you, you really don't matter in the end. Then you will gain character, because honesty will reach out from inside and tattoo itself across your face."

Today I'm thankful in my twisted way for regret... and for honesty finding its way to the surface...

and for every single one of YOU!

Stopping by to share my gratitudes with y'all. I usually post in my journal if I don't post here but today I wanted to acknowledge the magnificence of shared blessings that have multiplied joy and peace in my life.

Thank you to Norlana for mentioning the Sedona method and the capacity to witness and release emotions for a return to greater peace.

Thank you to Maha for reminding me the Source is everywhere, and that we often find it in our friends.

Thank you for the lessons of aging and a mature love that I am learning from my dear dog. Acceptance and just sitting together.

Serendipity of sisters texting at the same time. Love in action.

My heart overflows with gratitude for the many blessings in my life.
Thanks to all of you for sharing.

Onward! When you go forward an inch, the Universe moves miles.

Always enjoy your wise sharing Maha! That wonderful quote is a keeper.

On this cool, sunny, gorgeous day I am mindful of an abundance of blessings and especially for...

~Maha's shared wisdom here and in her blogs
~this thoughtful, grateful team
~DH for all he does to make our lives better
~God in heaven for supplying a landscape team at my neighbor's who were willing to move 8 cubic yards of top soil from my driveway to the backyard
~that the leg, back and hand pain, I suffered after working on the dirt pile for 4 hours before the team showed up, is under control today with Advil

Peace and blessings to each of you!

We are nothing but puppets. The force that we call the Cosmic Mother functions through you, through me, through everything - even a speck of dust, or an atom. We say that, but it's not enough. We have to feel it. If we just have that feeling, then whatever we do will become spiritual practice because we are not doing it. If someone else does something to you, you should say, "Oh, whatever Mother is doing is Mother's business. She shuffles the cards." Then who is your friend, who is your enemy? We are all one and the same motivated by that power. If you want to pray, say a prayer to God to help you to remember this truth.
-- Sri Swami Satchidananda

Good morning morning glories!

I'm here, beginning another day with gratitude, and hoping it will set the tone for the day! Giving thanks for~~

~ the darkness and silence of the early morning
~ my sounds of nature alarm, today set on birds-and-stream
~ the day ahead to use wisely
~ in spite of an annoying physical condition, feeling grateful for my good health
~ the good sense to come home last night (missing a program) when I saw a major traffic snarrel ahead and was able to make a U-turn and get out of it

Blessed be!

I'm thankful for dust. It kept me too busy to overeat today.
