Tonight I am grateful for...

~ Another beautiful day

~ That I took my MAC to the MAC doctors before I threw it out the window, but have my crappy little laptop in the interim

~ My stomach has calmed down from some absolutely awful stomach pains earlier this evening

~ That my daughter was so happy to have her father bring her the new memory foam mattress we got for her

Today I am grateful for wind,rain and hail.
For protecting my new vegetable plants from damage.
For a morning with my son
For a quiet lunch on the patio under a cloudy sky, between downpours.
For music, music, music and a nap that took me into the dinner hour.
For all of my friends and their achievements as classes wind down.

On this Tuesday evening, just a few of my gratitudes as I try to regroup this week:

-A celebratory (but healthy) dinner out with my sweetie, just talking and catching up
-Making plans this weekend to REALLY celebrate our anniversary since the original plans were derailed by food poisoning
-My sweetie not being seriously hurt when taking another big fall tonight after dinner
-Having time to slow down and breathe this week!!
-The Spark
-Laughing (and crying again) today about Lady Gwendolyn remembering her as a rowdy kitten (I still miss her so much)
-Remembering that being done with school brings on some feelings of loss (hence, I'm sure, the connection over Gwendolyn)

Goodnight all ...

Stephanie

hahahah! Now I get to follow you, LESSBIGBOB! Glad everyone is doing well, celebrating what is right in our lives! WoooHooo!!

My Attitude of Gratitude this beautiful evening ...

~ excellent meeting with all my team leads and hearing about their challenges, goals and positives

~ complimentary phone calls and texts afterward

~ getting in a couple of dance lessons today

~ my friend S who I've become closer with.

~ a beautiful day - not too hot, not too cold ... just my kind of day

~ Sammy dog who is still hanging in there and trying so hard to be the protector even when he doesn't have the strength

~ That G-man changed the oil on my car

~ My assistant D without whom I would be utterly lost!

Today, may I make good decisions that create positive outcomes and may I have wonderful, loving people in my life to share this awesome journey with.

Following Michelle, I almost feel unfaithful to Norlana. Kinch417 so glad your husband is well and seeing to his health. Thanks Sandra for the encouragement, it is so rare that I did not put the client first, I always have in the past.

Today I was thankful for:

*a great check-up with the eye surgeon! He said all is well and healing fine. He said I should get sight back in another month.
*my nerves feeling better, and how much better I could deal with the deadline with the extra break.
*for the rain that fell all day- even if we did have to work in it. We really needed it we have been so dry and the pollen has been so bad.
*for the good sense to go ahead and get some breakfast that I am trying to get out of my diet. My sugar was much better after and my energy also.
*my old friends at the nursery I have gone to since 1978. I have seen the owners retire, the children grow up to run it now, and their grandchildren working at it- boy do I feel old.
*the good humour of my foreman Joe, who pruned all day in the rain, and was cutting jokes with me the whole way.
*a warm office and home to come home to after a hard wet day of work.

Found the tea bags I wanted right here in my little interior town!
Walked to hunt for them!

As the sun ends this day by peeking out with golden light I think of appreciations:
-Twin wakes of mallards as they floated through still water and fantasizing a whole romance story
-Taking dogs for daily walk under pewter sky and noticing as I walked, changing perspective, that it was more of a silver day with embossed sky accented with white blossom full trees
-My dear R, surprising me with dinner he made and served to me
-Friends who remind me to do my best
-Losing 5 pounds since giving away my microwave in March

Grateful this morning

- for the sun occassionally peeking through April showers
- for live ship tracking (to watch the progress of the ship our son is on)
- for messages this morning from our son...complaining there are few healthy food choices on board!
- for hot water, heat and a roof over our heads
- for reading glasses (again...still)
- for a weeping crabapple tree bowing even more under the weight of more blossoms than I've seen on it before
- for eco and pet friendly slug bait...and that it seems to be keeping the slimy little creatures out of my Himalayan lilies and hostas
- for lush green moss
- for the remainder of the day to make headway on both indoor and outdoor 'projects'

Have a terrific Tuesday, Spark friends!

/Gail

Gratitudes:

that my husband got the Big C (colonoscopy) today and that they found 2 tiny polyps AND REMOVED THEM. And though he was hoping to come up with none, I am thankful that they were tiny and are gone and that he went in the first place, when there are so many, especially men, who don't go at all. On the way out, the exiting nurse told us that her husband died at age 41 of colon cancer.

So I am very, very thankful that my husband is still here with me and out of pain and currently sleeping peacefully in his own bed.

Other gratitudes:

that I'm able to take the day off to tend to him

that the daughter was able to drive into school

that I'm able to take care of some at home business while 'nursing' the 'patient'

Ut-oh... I will be very thankful to find 10 pounds of common sense around HERE (Gum'mint offies, ya know...)

And Nor, I'm almost positive you are on the "Do Not Twist Head Off" list... I THINK so...

I have been meeting customers at a trade show the last 2 days and am thankful for any chance to get OUT of this office... even though the cement floors at those big halls just play havoc with my ankle... but I have good meds and enough sense... not 10# worth but enough... to know to get off my foot when it aches, for crying out loud!

I am thankful that Sandra and Maha had a wonderful day together and that all of the Sparkers here have so much to be thankful for!

Tonight I am grateful for...

~ The dreaded Fatigue from yesterday having subsided

~ My hubby, son, mother & daughter all walking the MS Walk with me to support me. Along with 10 other SparkPittsburgh members and 12 friends of my daughter's Occupational Therapy class. The word "gratitude" just doesn't seem to to be enough for everyone who came out on a 38 degree morning to support me, but more importantly, this totally unpredictable disease.

~ Getting an email yesterday afternoon that I was named a SparkPerson Motivator! Especially ironic, seeing how bad my fatigue was right then:D

~ The weather warming up, the sun coming out and getting a walk in with a few hills tonight:-)

On this Monday night, just a few gratitudes quickly because I am exhausted:

-Making it through the marathon weekend (literally), turning my last assignment in at 12:07 a.m.
-Positive guidance from my instructor
-Waking up on time today, despite being up until almost 2 a.m. because I was so tired!
-My partner's neck massages that I literally think got me through yesterday
-Awesome friends, doing just the right things to support me
-Maha's phone call providing support while I was in the middle of crisis due to team member not fulfilling promised work on team project (guess who got to pick up the slack)
-Much better grade on final exam than expected
-IT IS OVER - NO MORE late Sunday nights (at least for turning in assignments
-Giving myself time now to rest

Goodnight ...

Norlana we have to quit meeting like this! I am happy to follow again!

Today I am thankful for:

*Subway serving breakfast now. I had their Egg White, Lowfat Wheat muffin with 1/2 the calories and 1/3 the fat, of an Egg McMuffin, and I also got veggies on it!
*being able to cancel the crews for the day to give myself an extra day to get feeling better. I have a deadline on Wednesday, and in the past would have bulled on despite how I felt, so it was good to take it eaier on me.
*the client I put off today to rest, being really nice, eventhough I know he is worried that I'll have everything done for his Wednesday Symphony luncheon.
*a nice cool day, which is a lot better for the plants than the hot days we have had.
*the fragrance of Lily of the Valley, and Florida Sweetshrub.

Tonight's Attitude of Gratitude ...

~ Speaking up with my Doc to schedule another test after today's was a fail. She was going to take a "maybe route" instead of a "really good answer route". Not with my body, thank you!

~ Getting some shopping done in anticipation of a vacation next week with G-man. I had to buy a bathing suit!! What an experience - but I managed! WooHooo!

~ Excellent dance lesson with Matthew

~ A crack heard 3 miles away as the Chiropractor did her magic - I feel like a new person!

~ Clearly letting a family member know their words were hurtful

~ Alone time tonight to get my head back on straight ... Did STLRZGRL come here and twist it off?

Today, may I make good decisions that create positive outcomes and may I have wonderful, loving people in my life to share this awesome journey with.

Thanks, Maha! I spend a lot of time in the kitchen in front of the sink! I consider a holy calling!

Grateful today for:
ability to get out and walk
nice time pulling weeds from my little garden
seeing lots of boys playing with mine and mine running the pack
a baby horse I saw running along side its mother - so cute!
dirty dishes in my sink! It means I'm feeding my family good things and they are eating them. Lots of pots and pans means I'm the one doing the cooking and not some person in a factory or restaurant!

Night!

Hope you're feeling much better soon, Noreen, and thank you for the Optimist's Creed...I'm sure I've seen this somewhere before and really appreciate 'finding' it again via your post...I think it warrants reading at least once at day!

In addition, my gratitudes today include

- catching up on some sleep
- reading glasses (now if I only could find them every time I need them!)
- meditation time
- simple, nutritious foods
- finding a ship tracker so I can keep myself posted on where my son is
- no snakes gifted by the cats yesterday or today...so far
- youngest son in a better mood
- a new SunRype apple juice blend -- apple, green tea, chai (delicious!)
- cherry blossoms swirling through the air

Have a terrific week everyone!

Today I am grateful for another day of sunshine
for a neighbor that came to check on me (she thought there was something wrong that I hadn't 'checked up' on her. For two projects completed and looking at more. For a luncheon date with a fellow spark friend.
For beautiful music in the park last evening with my honey. Cabbage soup leftovers in the fridge.
For all that I have learned from the Universe.

Good morning! I'm glad you came through relatively unscathed too, Sue! And I'm verging on overwhelmed with the wonderful noting of the abundance of our collective lives. We are INDEED blessed, in spite of it all! For instance, I'm full of thanks~~

~ at the opportunities to have fun with Sandra, while racking up aerobic minutes

~ at communing with dear old friends at Something Brewing yesterday

~ at my housemate's response to the feral cat that has been intermittantly hanging out at our place

~ at my competent computer shop guys, always ready to help me with problems and so, so fair with me, frequently not charging me

~ eagerly awaiting the trip into Verizon this morning to sign up for their service, which will hopefully remedy my signal strength problems

Blessed be!

Today I am thankful for:

*Norlana's find in her computer, because I am at the other end of the spectrum and needed this.
*My mother's birth which occured on this day 87 years ago (she only made it to 53).
*A new spark group that I hope helps me to finish the last part of my journey dealing with my mother's passing, and finally be at peace.
*My hard work finding a way to post my personal goals in tough times and not to drift away. It was a great anchor to health today!!!
*A flicker of sight? I am saw a few things with my damaged eye. It's not much, but the first thing I have seen at all with that eye since 3/22- yeah!
*Focusing on work today!!!
*One of my spark buddies making me laugh! It was a terrible joke, and it was a bit of a risk to say it, but it cracked me up- great tonic!
*Writing items I am thankful for, when my nerves are shot, is an amazing gift.

How LOVELY to be with you all! Tonight, as I await dinner being lovingly prepared by my sweet man, I'm cleaning out my computer files and found this ...

*****Optimist Creed *******

To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind;
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet;
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them;
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true;
To think only the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best;
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own;
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future;
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile;
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others;
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear; and too happy to permit the presence of trouble;
To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words, but in great deeds;
To live in the faith that the whole world is on your side so long as you are true to the best that is in you.

~ for taking EXCELLENT care of ME today! Made a huge batch of delicious veggies soup for the next few days, taking frequent breaks, listening to soft music, going caffeine free...all in an attempt to relieve the fibro symptoms that have hijacked my body the last few days

~ lots of other good cooking today - prep done for next week, laundry complete, fresh sheets to fall into

~ for a really good cry and feeling good afterward from the release it provided

~ that my daughter tried on her cap and gown today ... a long, long journey about to close

~ the love that she and I share

~ I am most grateful that her doc said her medical issue is a non-issue and they are going to watch it for a few months. He feels it is a no-biggie. I am very relieved as my mom-ness went into over drive.

I hope you all have a fantastic week!

Good morning! Pushin' on through and, in spite of the literal and figurative gray shroud over everything, feeling *up for it* all~~

~ the lovely soliloguy, beautifully articulated, Gail offered for her eldest son

~ Sue's sensitivity and Trace's loving HUGS which are fairly palpable

~ the young friend I write to in prison, recently diagnosed with cancer, who has such a vibrant spirit and strength of will

~ my spiritual nature, open to Truth in all of its manifestations (I've just finished a difficult phone conversation with a "born again Christian," mother of the above inmate, who demanded to know my beliefs to ascertain whether or not I am an "evil spirit")

~ the bike ride with Sandra ahead this afternoon

Blessed be!

Good early Sunday morning all! I want to acknowledge all the NEW PEOPLE on this team. My hopes are that those of you that haven't:
1. Are lurking...and getting blessed just by the joy shared here (despite the challenges of life) and
2. that you will just stop what you are doing, think about it, and join us (at least once!) on this thread. Feel free to jump right in. We welcome you!

Other gratitudes
* A solo walk in the Capitol Park. And the feelings of comfort I get there...its beauty. Its familiarity.
* California's forefathers who so carefully planned it...with trees and flowers from around the world to ensure year round color and a place of beauty and calm next to the heart of the state.
* A solitary iris, which towered over the rest of one of the gardens there, refusing to be "one of the crowd"
* The fragrance of the park's mock orange tree blossoms
* Comfy shoes...SO thrilled to have found some!
* That I can walk without a boot...and that I can walk, period.

Gratitudes:

for reading Dragonfly's post and feeling her emotions with her

for a WONDERFUL birthday yesterday with 2 parties, our 85 year old Auntie - still going strong and an inspiration to me - and our joint party for my husband and me both April babies

for the great weather yesterday

for all the wonderful people in my life

that gave me a good idea and to solve a problem and that it was carried out in a manner which I hope will be helpful to everyone

that I got to meet Master Gardener Andre Viette and that he autographed his book which I bought a long time ago and that he gave me some great advice for my garden

for another day today to perhaps implement the advice

May everyone have a great day

To make this work for the long term

Today has brought a mixed bag of emotions to the surface for me. At one extreme tugs of sadness saying goodbye to our eldest son as he departs for a 5-6 month stint at sea. In the middle the pause of acceptance...these are his choices, they make him happy, and I'm just a middle-aged mama still learning how to let go. Then, a special message from him while he waited for a connecting flight in Vancouver, and text messages to his Dad upon his arrival in Montreal, and the quiet elation of knowing how fortunate we are to have him in our lives.

And a few other things --

* reconstruction of our water garden coming along nicely, and repurposed copper fire bowl fitting in perfectly
* three contented cats in a heap on the bed
* stumbling across Leonard Cohen Live in London tonight on PBS
* home-made chicken vegetable soup
* opening of outdoor farmer's market for the season

Well done on the walk, Stephanie.

Dollybabe, I hope your Sunday is a better day.

Enjoy what's left of the weekend, everyone!

It is our sameness that draws us together. It is our differences that help us grow. It is respect that makes this possible.

This morning I am grateful for ...

* anticipation of a bike ride with Maha today (postponed from yesterday)
* Stephanie's exhilerating MS walk yesterday
* putting papers aside for a day of "me time"
* Gina's 100 day streak
* a new Thai restaurant in town (yum)
* sore muscles (a sign of use)
* ibuprofen for this persistent sinus headache
* a life worth living
* possibilities and freedom to choose

Blessings,
Sandra

On this Saturday evening, I have to come here again today to reflect on everything I have to be grateful for, so that I can make it through the remainder of the weekend:

-An astoundingly beautiful day to walk SIX MILES for the MS cause
-Being able to put that medal (for completing the MS Walk) around my partner's neck for the 7th year and seeing the genuine tears (and love) in her eyes as I did so
-My friend who walked with me today - that is a first as I normally intentionally do the walk alone to quietly reflect admidst the crowd
-The amazing lines and lines of people who were there today to participate
-Doing double duty by filling up a grocery store plastic bag multiple times with intermittent trash found along the route (then emptying it into the next trash can I found along the way)
-My favorite MS staffer being there today and running over to give me a hug (and express-checking my friend in who didn't get VIP express check-in and was waiting through the long lines)
-Realizing my priorities and putting the books aside to do the walk, period.
-Knowing that I do not have the luxury of wasting my time and energy on anger this weekend because I have much more to do as a result of a teammate who failed to do his part (and two others who are now unreachable due to internnational travels)
-Doing whatever it takes to get it done - once and for all - this is the LAST weekend this will happen!!!

Stephanie

Gratitudes...

~ safe flight/landing. We experienced mechanical problems mid flight so I am very grateful for folks who made it possible for us to land and for the prayers we were all praying

~ for all the wonderful people I have in my life including all of YOU!

~ for J who worked with me today (as much as I could tolerate) to give me a deep, deep massage (ouch) releasing the fibro gunk that has me hostage right now

~ that I was able to pay for part of the massage with a birthday gift card from my friend S

~ that I can go to bed soon

Today, may I make good decisions that create positive outcomes and may I have wonderful, loving people in my life to share this awesome journey with.

I am grateful for another day of energy to complete my project at hand.
For 74 degree weather that made me want to be outside. For friends stopping by to give and receive advice. It is all good.
For fresh strawberries, avacado and asparagas for a lovely salad.
Looking to another fun filled day working on sorting books, music and videos and a free concert in the park tomorrow night.
What a great week this has been. Phone calls from spark friends make the days even better.

It may be that when we no longer know which way to go we have come to our real journey. The mind that is not baffled is not employed. The impeded stream is the one that sings.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY STEPHANIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, Spark buddies...it's 3:30pm Saturday and I've been having MAJOR online connectivity grief today, which is why I basically haven't been around.

So I'm coming here on an AOL dial-up connection (and callin' that perseverance and desire!) to post some stuff that's OK about my life...'cause really...not much feels OK right now. So here goes~~

~ Wendall Berry's work and words -- and in this moment especially his image of the "impeded stream"

~ the self-empowerment bestowed by moments ago finishing a 1-hr. marathon phone call with Sprint and "winning" over The.Big.Guy -- my $450 early termination penalties are null-and-void!!!

~ knowing that ultimately, coming and going, we're all alone, which helps me slightly to manage my feelings of alone-ness and isolation right now in the "during" period...and drives me toward the Practices, my true solace and support

~ having made it through the last round of university exams and presentations and papers without too many bruises

~ having three weeks to space out the remaining class work to meeting pending deadlines and prepare for the final exams

Namaste,
Maha

Good Day, All...

Today I am thankful...

~ ...that the Thanksgiving community is here.
~ ...that I still have part of a tooth left to put a crown upon.
~ ...that I had money in savings to pay dental and tax bills.
~ ...that I have choices.

Namaste.

Sorry, LessBigBob, this is what we talk about when you're not here... and... apparently... what we talk about when you ARE here...

I'M thankful for the MS walks everywhere and the off-scale cool people here who are walking to beat a disease that really needs beating...

~ and for grilled artichokes even if I DIDN'T GET ANY!!! (Hmmppffhh.)

~ and a weekend that will involve some work time, too, but talking to customers which always beats a day in the office...

~ and a chance to finally listen to my new Joe Jackson CD that I've had for a WEEK and not had time to throw in the cd player YET! It's not new... just new to me... from 2003's excellent Volume 4 for a taste of the old JJ Band:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTLFOOC3ub4
