This morning I am grateful

* looking forward to pictures and bicycle ride with Maha (although too little time). I'm not sure about changing the profile picture. I'm a creature of habit.

* realizing a friend's life is too full to incorporate another person at this point in her life ... and not taking it personally. A huge leap of growth for me.

* sleeping in this morning

* finally wrapping my head around a paper that has been a huge source of procrastination

* Seeing my personal trainer and feeling my muscles this morning

* A trip planned to the KATY trail (a bicycle trail that runs from St. Charles to Kansas City along the Missouri River (and no we are not doing the whole trail).

* a life worth living

* possibilities and freedom to choose

Blessings this beautiful morning,
Sandra

Thanks, Kathy C. for the butter bean comment on FB!
Rough start today, but the little comment helped push me back to the smiling side of life!
Thankful my dh said the words - I AM SORRY! Whew!
Thankful I stopped the negative inside voice from it's nonstop play position this morning!
Thankful for the little quote I found from Thich this morning: Smile, breathe and go slowly.

Slowing down, breathing more deeply, looking for my smile!

This is funny, because I, like Gina, do not usually double my gratitudes, but today is a special one, so I am feeling the need to do so:

On this Saturday morning, I come to share just a few of my gratitudes:

-Waking up to hear the birds chirping with an awesome temperature out there (just under 50) for the MS Walk
-My legs, that carry me strongly and surely through life
-My health, which is so very precious
-My ability to walk long distances and do other physical activities, when there are so many out there who cannot do so, due to physical disabilities and/or limitations
-For all of the people that I will be seeing today who are walking, despite their MS, and those on wheels, all joining together for a common cause - the hope to find a cure for MS
-For my amazing and astounding partner, who goes through daily life with a multitide of MS symptoms, with rare complaint, and an attitude better than most people who have their health - I bow in gratitude to her and walk today in her honor (and in Lynn's honor, and in Deb's honor, and Kristi, and Vicki, and all of those with MS that I do not know)
-For the many of you who are supporting me, with my most sincere thanks!

Make it an excellent day!!

Stephanie

I don't usually duplicate post, but TODAY my gratitudes include messages of thanks to my gratitude communities who I see as one. So...here they are!

Happy Saturday everyone! Today, I am so very grateful to be here and to celebrate my 100 day SparkStreak. My life is quite hectic so this consistency and "home base" has been a tremendous support for me! YOU all are a huge part of that and for that I am especially grateful! Today my gratitudes go out for:

~ for all of you who have helped, inspired, cheered, and been a part of my SparkFamily!
~ for consistency with joy instead of boredom
~ for the loving presence of R
~ for Stephanie's MS Walk today giving us all hope...
~ for the air I breathe, my arms, my limbs, my sense of health, my loving family, friends and R (thanks, Maha!)
~ for the constant support and love of music in my life!
~ for the gentle breezes, the sounds of water falling and flowing, the tiny purple flowers, the sounds of birds, and the warmth of the sun!

I have so much for which to be grateful!

Blessings all! Have a wonderful weekend!

Like the wind...he blows through one's life. And like the water, he trickles away...doubt he'd EVER get to PA. And I seriously doubt it is worth a trip to CA. (But there are lots of other reasons to come here!)

Ohhhhhhhhhhh Trace...there's your guy -- Kathy has a Buddha Boy friend. She'll fix you right up! Yeah...dreamsville here we come! I might even have a photo of him I could post. Just a matter of him getting to PA or you getting to CA...small thing, really.

Glad to give you some LOL in the midst of the study madness Stephanie dear!

Oh, and Bob, aren't we a bit greedy here??? I gave YOU and TRACE and SANDRA S.E.P.A.R.A.T.E mention in my post this morning, so I didn't name any of the three of you in the group list. Geez!

Just home from the prison...good night dear friends!

So....speaking of single Buddhists...did Maha mention the man I introduced HER to? (ha ha ha ha!)

Now, wipe that grin off your face Kathy, and express gratitude
* For awakening from a horrible dream and being thrilled that it WAS a dream, and that I could easily shake off the residual feelings/fears
* For an amazing day of solice
* For WARM water to swim in
* For grilled artichokes and the pomelo I had for dinner.
* For my husband gathering with old friends for a boys night out.
* For a friend reminding me that we have GIRL's day (and dinner) tomorrow...I'd forgotten, and it was even on my calendar!

On this Friday night, just a few of my gratitudes to share with this amazing group of folks:

-Lessbigbob being a new favorite "token male" of mine on this ThanksGiving team!!! :-) (Feel better now? HaHa)
-The AMAZING laughter (we're talking belly laughs here) that I got from Maha and Trace's exchanges on the Mormon doc student!!! "PLEASE HOLD on that - I'll wait for you to dig up a single Buddhist" and Maha's "there is that polygamy thang" - I mean, between that and the twisting heads routine, I'm howling-THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU
-This wonderful break in the midst of studying for hours now (gee, ya think that's maybe why I'm laughing so hard?)
-OK, getting more serious now (but why?) - STAMINA!
-STAMINA to make it through this LAST WEEKEND madness of my FINAL MBA CLASS
-My friend who will arrive at 7:30 a.m. for us to go do the MS Walk (hopefully in nice weather - last year was pouring rain, year before was sleet/ice, I kid you not - this does NOT have a good history)
-Perseverance to get through WHATEVER kind of weather happens tomorrow - It's happening, I'm doing it, regardless (just call me the postman - oops, postperson - neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow ... how does that go?)
-Support everywhere - I am so very fortunate - all of you, friends, family, I truly am blessed
-So many well wishes, SparkGoodies (thanks, Gina), etc. about the MS Walk tomorrow
-My brain, which carries me through SO MUCH information overload with RELATIVE ease ... wonder how it will be doing in another 10 years?

Have a great night everybody!!

Stephanie

Today I am giving thanks for:

*my friend below for giving me another idea of how to enjoy cinnamon.
*my wife for being such a great sport and making it so easy for me to switch plans from a trip today to some local outings- thought it too much for me.
*double dap to my wife. She has wanted me to look at some new fixtures for the house for a year. I did it today with her, and she was so appreciative and didn't bring up how long she had to wait!
*The person who didn't cut down the wisteria that was growing in their front yard tree. It has grown so much the entire 50' tree was covered with purple wisteria blooms.
*my foreman for being patient with me while I vented today. I'll correct the situation and not repeat my bad performance.
*to Maha for remembering the picture I asked for- though I am totally crushed that I didn't make the Thanksgiving friends list. I at least thought she would list me as a token male. Ha!Ha!

Maha: HOLD, PLEASE on the Mormon Doc... that's ok... I'll wait for you to dig up a single Buddhist one...

Plz to have the very best time with Sandra and hugz for you BOTH...

I am thankful that Pickles the little boxer girl (She was ELEVEN last Friday!) seems to be getting a little better... I think her eye does better the LESS I do to it! Hm...

I am thankful for it being truly actually really for reals Friday so I can get out of this office with my brain still inside my skull and no one's head twisted off... no matter how sorely they NEED it...

I am thankful the first tulip to bloom in my garden... it is a lovely pink one and wonderful for being the first... Especially since Parker POUNCED on the whole bed of bulbs looking for groundhogs last month... I'm thankful ANYTHING came up after his one-dog demolition team got through with it...

Gratitudes:

for being able to get up this morning, that is having the legs, strength, good health and mind set

for a husband with a day off and who is willing to do a lot of preparation so that we can have a great day tomorrow

for being part of a rideshare, and having a great rideshare buddy that we can discuss all kinds of things

that the powers-that-be accepted an idea I had for "schtick" that the chorus can do in our performance

for remembering to use my words are building blocks and not battering rams

for 'discovering' a birthday present that I know my daughter would really like, because I saw the expression on her face when I asked her about it

I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it.
--Thomas Jefferson (from SP Healthy Reflections, see below*)

Good morning! As I enjoy my 1/2 decaf coffee with 1% choc milk, I'm catching up here on SP and happy because~~

~ the mind-stopping beauty of this morning's deep pink and blue-skied *amanecer* or *crepusculo*...or dawn

~ Sandra and I have a date under the primrose arbor this weekend (and maybe a bike ride *to boot*) and I'll try to get some photos of us and it for LessBigBob (and, hmmmmmmmm, maybe nudge Sandra to update her fall profile image if we get any really good images)

~ I love *playing* with Trace, and love her spirit and repartee (the 25-yr. old [Mormon] student is married...oh, but there is that polygamy thang, huh! ok, I'll check with him)

~ I also love being inspired by all the other AMAZING Thanks Giving Community friends -- Noreen, Stephanie, Gina, Usha, Mazzy, Vivian, Gail, Elaine, Kinch, Vicki, Lynn, Michelle, Sherrie, Sue, Kat, our fearless leader Kathy -- oh my, my mind is blanking and I'm sure there are more!

~ I was in bed around 6:00pm last night and got ELEVEN HOURS of sleep (my cell phone was on the pillow beside me, and I noticed this morning that I had a call...at 6:45pm that I didn't hear and the ringer is set on maximum!!!

Blessed be!

*SP Healthy Reflections text:

Where Luck Comes From

It's interesting. Successful people generally believe they made their own breaks. Meanwhile, the unsuccessful types tend to think that success is more found than earned--that fortune smiles on some and sneers at others. The truth is somewhere in between. With hard work, more doors open, more opportunities come by. Which opportunities show up can be a matter of chance. If your mom's not Naomi Judd, you may never get the chance to sing in Nashville. But whatever "happens by," you still have to be ready and willing to take advantage of it. It's really a matter of confidence and preparation. Belief in yourself will help you rely less on luck and more in your abilities. And a strong foundation will give you the power to bust that door down when opportunity comes knocking. You, too, can be lucky. You just have to work at it.

Oh, Michelle, I have no IDEA why the birds stop singing!... maybe they do have other bird things to do... I was mostly thinking that birds get a lot more done in a day than *I* do! LOL...

Nor, I hope Sammi is having lots of good days (And YOU are having big fun in NYC)...

And Maha... when are you going to introduce me to your 4.0 med school boy, hm?...

Gail, can I relate!!!

STLRZGRRL, thanks for explaining what the birds are doing after they cheep me awake around dawn--but of course, duh.

Quote: Don't oppose forces; use them. God is a verb, not a noun. --R. Buchminster Fuller--

For some reason, while I could read posts here yesterday, I couldn't reply--oh those computer gremlins--so today includes gratitudes for both days.

I give thanks for

Sherrie's kind involvement with my trip to Portland

my wise and witty therapist--I can never be too grateful for having found him

another terrific lecture on the brain: The Brain Revealed: From Chemistry to Mystery, sponsored by our local medical school/hospital

the lovely people I've met as a result of volunteering to help with the event

spices and herbs

National Library Week to remind us all how important libraries are to society (I heard on NPR today what a mecca they've become for job seekers who need computers, guidance, and such that aren't easily available to them)

all my privileges that smooth my path in life--even when I'm cranky and unappreciative

the dear people here

developing some new breakfast alternatives with my nurse-practitioner that I can make the night before, ready for me when I can't seem to function when I first awake

another day of meditating first thing, then eating breakfast--all within a half hour upon arising

the beautiful gongs that Gail sent me to signal the beginning and the end of meditation in such a gentle way

people who tread lightly on this earth.

Pax Vobisum,

Michelle

On this Thursday evening, just a few of my gratitudes to share:

-Another gorgeous spring day
-An e-mail at work telling us to plan on leaving mid-afternoon tomorrow to enjoy some extra time (making up a bit of the extra time we've worked lately)
-Recognition
-Letting go of my disappointment over the PowerPoint done by my team members (it's not horrid, but not great either)
-An e-mail this morning from a past professor who noticed I was on the graduation list, telling me she would be there, and giving me her cell # so we can connect (she was a GREAT prof)
-My incredible partner and her constant love and support (and I should add patience through all this final class madness)

Have a great evening everybody!!

So happy to catch up on all of your amazing gratitudes!

~ Viewing the Empire State Building from my hotel room, arriving safely and all the folks who helped me along the way

~ Plans for early morning exercise. A walk to Grand Central Station and back weather permitting and if not, the hotel fitness room will suffice.

~ Releasing method helping me with some not to pleasant feelings today.

~ That my daughter is emerging from a challenging adventure from the last few years. She is beautiful and is a remarkable person.

~ Blessed about tomorrow's learning and being energized to bring about exciting change

~ The Vet techs who love Sammy and helped out today by leaving his meds outside as G-man was running past their closing time

Today, may I make good decisions that create positive outcomes and may I have wonderful, loving people in my life to share this awesome journey with.

Extra thankfullness for:

I did 75 minutes of water aerobics and my eye didn't hurt. It has the last two days and I have been worried.

My yoga teacher, for all her care and laughter. I told her we were practicing the Haha-yana! We had a good session of breathing and meditation.

My "eye" for beauty. I was leaving a doctor apt. and noticed a really beautiful picture of a church steeple behind two dogwoods at peak bloom. Everybody else I saw walked right by without looking up.

a special sparkfriend for being so open and sharing with me! She is really something!

Who cannot relate to this? --

Sometimes I lie awake at night, and I ask, "Where have I gone wrong?"/ Then a voice says to me, "This is going to take more than one night."

A little humor posted by a friend on FB today that reminded me of the importance of trying to not get bogged down in regrets, to seek the important lessons in all the circumstances surrounding my life, and to remember that this learning is a life-long process.

Today, I feel blessed with another bright, sunny day and the beauty of nature that surrounds me. I too wake to the sounds of birds announcing the arrival of a new day, and sometimes marvel at the regularity of it all -- frogs croaking me to sleep at night and birds singing me to consciousness in the morning! In between, if I pay attention, I notice the rhythms of a busy universe...what areas of my very shady yard are touched by sunshine for ever so brief moments through the day, the exuberant emergence of spring flowers, the miraculous unfolding of leaf buds, ferns, hostas, and the contented buzzing of hummingbirds as they feast on a profusion of cherry blossoms.

I am grateful today for the return of the hummingbirds, for the sun's warming the earth to nudge plant life into action, for the alleviation of pain, and for the technology that is helping me stay connected with others as well as to inform my enquiries and expand my horizons.

Also, as always, grateful for this place to touch base with so many like-minded souls!

It is our sameness that draws us together. It is our differences that help us grow. It is respect that makes this possible.

Sometimes the most important thing in a whole day is the rest we take between two deep breaths, or the turning inwards in prayer for five short minutes.

Good afternoon! Like my pal Mazzy, I have SO many blessings and here are just a few of them~~

~ feeling like I'm in the rather unique position, in my *non-traditional student* status, of being able to develop authentic friendships with both fellow students, as well as the profs
~ the fun ahead of the linguistics class being invited to the prof's place for dinner at the end of the semester...and he specifically made eye contact with me and said there would *also* be vegetarian fare
~ being totally impressed with the young man I studied with for today's Latin American Civ exam...he's a pre-med student graduating this semester with a 4.0...and he's very handsome and VERY sweet
~ knowing I'm not meeting my weekly Baby Steps Goals so far this week, but forgiving myself and doing what I can
~ doing reasonably well at portion control and eating very few sweets

Blessed be!

I think the birds stop singing when it gets light enough for them to see because then... birds... ARE BUSY!!

We think we have a lot to do! They gotta come up with enough food to feed themselves and find water and not get snatched up by a bigger bird... or a cat... and then they have to find stuff to make a house with because theirs is falling apart every day and THEN...

Yesterday, Today, .... I am Thankful for:

Being back on this posting after some focused days of re-balancing my weightloss work / postings.

Maha coming on board with my re-naming the "red" buds campaign.

My therapist for our great work last Tuesday, and for being able to afford therapy.

The friends who have helped me trying to customize my weightloss focus.

My wateraerobics trainer, who is so focused on me not over-doing our work, while my eye heals.

The Vision Collage people for having great resources and support as I use pictures / images to work through all things health/wellness.

My new friend Mary, who asked me to meet her for dinner and answer her questions about Buddhism. I used to lead discussion groups at the Buddhist center I helped found, but I haven't been a part of it for 12 years and really missed discussing the Dharma- Thanks! Mary!

ps. If anyone knows the answer to Sandra's bird question below, I'd like to know also!!! Also Sandra can you or Maha, send me a picture of this primrose arbor- I am very intrigued.

On this Wednesday evening, just a few of my gratitudes:

-waking up to find out that thanks to the generosity of friends, I'm 99% toward my goal for the MS Walk (and Maha, I am STILL content), plus another friend who is mailing a checking making me 100% of my goal + $5. Yay!!! Now THAT is an A, for sure!!!!!
-The 18-1/2 years I got to share with my amazing Lady Gwendolyn as I think more about her on the 5-month anniversary of my loss
-Donald and Daisy Duck, who continue to amuse me in the pond with more dive-bomb landings tonight AND playful behavior while swimming around
-Meeting my daily goal toward my final examination
-Letting go (a PowerPoint presentation is due tonight, 2 team members were sitting and waiting on a 3rd who is overdue in his paper writing, said paper being the essence of the PowerPoint, etc., etc.)-they will figure it out somehow and get it done - or not ...
-My wonderful partner and our great life

Goodnight all -

Stephanie

Jumping in and out quickly to say "Hi". No time to catch up and will hopefully find some time tomorrow en route to my next destination.

Tonight ... celebrating my many blessings including

~ two days with one of my mentors Jack Stack - creator of the Great Game of Business. Getting reinvigorated by his words and inspired by the huge accomplishments of his team. Job creation, economic development in his community ... a generous, genuine man and I am blessed to be given the opportunity to study with him.

~ Challenges - medical, dance, technology and the way these things insist that I grow

~ My awesome team

~ J is getting closer to graduation. The cap and gown showed up today :)

~ hot bath and bed next - up early to pack for next trip to see ANOTHER gifted mentor

~ twin sisters Serendipity and Synchronicity working overtime in my life and the good things the Universe is guiding me to

Today, may I make good decisions that create positive outcomes and may I have wonderful, loving people in my life to share this awesome journey with.

Well, despite Maha's belief that I am any kind of steward of anything... I DID NOT get the support I was expecting from the Universe...

Instead... another test...

SO, we start again, right?

I am thankful that I did not blind Pickles when I stuck the poor thing's eyeball with the ointment tube this morning... how that dog keeps from biting me, I will never know...

Or how I kept from BITING PARKER... who escaped from his crate AGAIN in my absence and risked defenestration and death by glass breakage trying to get out the window so he could find me...

When I figure out how to get an animal past separation anxiety, I'm gonna be REAL THANKFUL!!!!

Ok, ok...

~ I am thankful for a new crate that may keep Parker contained until I can get home and reason with him some more about how to live in a house.

~ For the approval to allow my staff to go to training today because training is good.

~ For really good coffee.

~ For an unexpected mid-week call from my brother so I know he's alive out there in the desert.

~ For the grace to have somehow reached Wednesday without twisting anyone's head off. Yet.

If we wait for the moment when everything, absolutely everything, is ready, we shall never begin.
-- Ivan Turgenev, novelist, poet, playwright

Good morning dear thanks giving friends! I'm so thankful for so much, such as~~

~ a hearty laugh AND happy heart: "95% of my goal for the MS Walk completed and being content with that (whereas Ms. Type A of the past would go digging for more!!) - After all, isn't 95% an A? ROFLOL" Well although I definitely LAUGHED OUT LOUD upon reading this gratitude of Stephanie's, I didn't quite ROLL ON THE FLOOR!!!

~ AT's gratitudes made me smile too -- there's: "or a car that runs, an oven that works, a roof that doesn't leak and a comfy bed" AND then there's: "swimming in 85 degree water...in our very own back yard" -- YEAH!

~ planning to bike to the campus to meet with another student to prep together for manana's exam

~ consistent meditation practice in spite of it all

~ Sandra's "spectacular primrose arbor in bloom" that I know of by reputation and have been told I need to experience...maybe this weekend...?

Blessed be!

This morning I am grateful for ...

* the persistent internet service person who came at 7:00 p.m. last night to figure out why my internet was down and replaced the broken 10 year old modem

* a productive morning ... writing a paper, dishes, laundry ... all going at the same time. (I'm not good at multi-tasking).

* a few days alone while spouse travels

* a birthday surprise for my daughter. My son who called to say "thank you!"

* spectacular primrose arbor in bloom -- one of my favorite milestones of the year

* my therapist who pushes me to ever more challenging work ... who knew?

On this Tuesday evening, just a few of my many gratitudes:

-Precious memories that I hold in my mind and my heart of my sweet Lady Gwendolyn that I still miss
-Coming home to find Donald and Daisy snoozing on the rocks next to the ponds - it was obvious they had gone for a swim and then decided to drip dry in the sun, inadvertently dozing off while sunbathing!!
-Hearing our frog buddies right now through the entire house - my, what loud voices they have in the night :-)
-My amazing partner and the incredible life that we share together
-95% of my goal for the MS Walk completed and being content with that (whereas Ms. Type A of the past would go digging for more!!) - After all, isn't 95% an A? ROFLOL
-Having my car back (FINALLY) and hopefully it being leak-free
-A day at work where I could just work at an even pace (THIS is a breath of fresh air for me)
-Gearing up for Corporate Challenge, a win-win-win for me as I will have more available time with school ending, this will get me more exercise AND it's for charity

Goodnight all -
