Thannkful, this rainy chill spring day for:
-the opportunity to begin tackling paperwork and organization
-which will lead me to my next action step of signing up for the ART club here
-and taking a course online as well
-and continuing my color studies
-researching what type of scanner I should get or use for the ideas that have been percolating in my unskilled imagination and itching to come out the running gate!

I gotta take a moment here to reflect on how blessed I am right now. I went with my daughter last night to an MS group. She was doing a presentation on "Energy Conservation with MS Fatigue."

First observation: My daughter did an AMAZINGING job. Seeing your child as an adult is both wonderful and strange. She's in the master's OT program now and is taking the MCATS this summer to apply to med school. My husband & I are so blessed to have raised such a smart, caring child.

Second observation: WOW, am I fortunate with my MS right now. Yes, I deal with fatigue & cognitive issues at times, but all in all, it's pretty darn good right now. There were people there with canes, walkers & wheelchairs. This was the same day that I ran my 5K course. You can imagine how blessed I felt.

Good morning!

I'm moving slowly, because I went to bed very late last night. Thinking about some of the many things I have to give thanks for~~

~ a great phone conversation with Noreen, confirming even more my sense of her -- bright, creative, energetic, accomplished, compassionate -- such an amazing woman!

~ sharing the joy that Vicki's dad gets to be at home (you've got my prayers, dear one)

~ Kinch's contentment with 19 years of marriage

~ a date with a blind woman today -- I want to feel more comfortable with her and get to know this amazing woman better

~ everyday another chance

~ loved being introduced to Temple Grandin by Noreen

The following is engraved along with many other quotes on the beautiful walls of the Health and Healing Center:

Don't oppose forces; use them. God is a verb, not a noun.

--R. Buckminter Fuller

This late afternoon, after another fine day, I give thanks for:

the amazing progress I've made with my wise and witty therapist when I compare how I feel today with the state I was in at the beginning

my first appointment with the nurse-practitioner at my hospital's Health and Healing Center going so well and my feeling that she will help me a great deal in a knowledgeable, low-key, good-humored manner

learning to follow Norlana's lead--taking excellent care of myself

my allergy symptoms being milder today

knowing the difference between "want" and "need" and consciously choosing "want" when I feel it's appropriate and ignoring it when I feel it's a passing impulse

my cheerful, "spring" tee shirt--black with colorful flowers "growing" across the top

sautéed onion and green apple braised with sauerkraut (soaked in cold water first for a bit to get rid of some of the sodium)

Andrew Carnegie

my parents teaching me empathy and that's it not all about me

the "presence" of my father whenever I need him

this evening to do exactly what I wish

friends here and there who so enrich my life.

Peace, joy, and blessings to you all,

Michelle

Please keep my parents in yourbthoughts and prayers. I phoned home last night and found that Daddy is back home from the hospice center. He can no longer walk! What if I told you, Mahalakshmi, that you couldn't have anymore of anything... No more friends, no more money, no more anything, until you first got happy with what you have?

Easy to change,
The Universe
P.S. Actually Mahalakshmi, I'd never tell you that, because frankly, it's not always true. But, if you're not happy with what you've got, it's hard to imagine that you're really thinking favorably on those things. And the thoughts that you are thinking, perhaps unfavorable, limited, and afraid, are the ones that will receive priority in the manifestation of tomorrow. Uck. www.tut.com

This sunny and warm late afternoon, I give thanks for:

Gail's beautiful photos and the descriptions of her garden

email reminders of commitments on my online calendar

being able to put electronic, colorful "sticky notes" on my desktop so I see them as soon as I boot up

real, locally baked, artisan rye bread--not that factory-produced impostor

the sweet and helpful twenty-something guys who live in the flat above me

getting a person first thing (no menu torture) when I called with a question about my medical insurance

the scent of lavender soy candles

sorting though accumulated junk mail and tearing off my address to be shredded

anticipating an early-to-bed night.

Blessings to all,

Michelle

And for a little boy who has marked 4 years of filling the wombat-sized hole that was in his family before!!

I am very thankful to have Maha here with us again and no worse for wear... *waves*

and OFF-SCALE THANKFUL for Reading Coffee Roasters... I found it by way of a Spark pal who it turned out I sort of knew in real life... and he heard I was traveling there, tipped me off... OH. MY. GOODNESS!!!!!

I'mma put that SMELL in a bottle to dab behind my ears when I need a pick-me-up!!!

*For a surprise bouquet of roses a good friend dropped off last night

*For being THIS close to finishing my taxes

Expressing gratitudes this morning as I wave down affectionately to Maha!

Note from the Universe this morning: "One of the greatest paradoxes of your physical senses, Gina, is that your eyes actually show you what you believe, not what you see."

~ for the wonderful words of Nikki Giovanni in Maha's post! Much appreciated!
~ for the dark, cool, quiet of early morning
~ for sunshine and bird songs
~ for gentle breezes and rain
~ for friends and family
~ for "seeing" and "believing" but not always believing what I see!
~ for music...

Blessings, all!

Who I am really keeps surprising me.
-- Poet Nikki Giovanni (SP Healthy Reflections, see below*)

Good morning! Happy to be back with all of you in this amazing community! And YAY! it's GREAT to have the creative, amazing, lucid FractalMyth among us...good work Trace!!!

I'm deeply thankful this early morning~~

~ for almost NINE hours sleep...WOW!
~ for a nearly hassle-free, and at times downright pleasant, trip, which was rife with possibilities for conflict
~ for some study time
~ for a hopefully fruitful meeting today with my linguistics professor
~ for the vicarious pleasure of enjoying the *Wombat's* BIG NUMBER FOUR, via mama's wonderful description

* Healthy Reflection: What we can learn from our path to the present

Often in moments of discouragement or depression, it's easy to feel that your life is going nowhere or that change is impossible. But it's simply not true! Take a minute to think back over your life. Chances are, you'll see a lot of growth in all of your formative areas. From childish playing, to youthful impulsiveness and adult reasoning, life sure has taken you on a rollercoaster hasn't it? When you were young, someone probably asked you what you wanted to be when you grew up. If someone posed that same question to you now, what would you say? Let this reflection be an indicator of your dreams.

Strength does not come from physical capacity.
It comes from an indomitable will.
-- Mahatma Gandhi

Welcome, Fractalmyth!

Grateful tonight...

...for a day well-spent

...upper deck mostly cleaned up (I can see the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel!)

...lawn furniture dusted off and in good shape, and hubby agreeing it's time to buy new cushions this year

...grateful, contented cats

...a warm day, sunny with only a few clouds

...container garden plans

...cherry trees about to burst into bloom

...first blossoms emerging on my weeping crabapple

...blue glass watering globes

...busy, noisy birds building nests in the forest that nudges up against my patio

...deer grazing in the lower yard and the two eagles squawking at them from the top of a massive ancient spruce tree

...Sandra's reminders and musings about unwelcome truths and difficult decisions

...getting outside today even though, initially, it was the last thing I wanted to do

...a mostly cloudy day forecast for tomorrow (little or no rain means I can get outdoors again)

Have a terrific Tuesday, Spark friends!

My first thanksgiving visit - G'day! I'm tagging along here having been inspired to do so by Stlrzgrrl :D

I am thankful for:

- my Wombat turning 4 today
- that he liked the presents we chose and has opened them slowly and individually enjoyed each one - he even has three left unopened!
- that the cake cooked through and looks yummy
- that I was able to buy a punnet of strawberries because he wanted them on top of his cake
- that the rainbow of balloons I hung up at 2am has lasted all day

Though no-one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.

It's time to be the me I want to be.

As I unwind from one of the most hectic day in many months, it is imperative that I post gratitudes
* For the amazing support of my supervisor, when dealing with difficult co-workers
* REALLY thankful for my emotional water wings which helped me teach a three hour class with no preparation.
* That hubby was willing to get take out when I got home after a 12 hour day
* For no traffic on my commute home.
* For being able to unwind in the solace of our wonderful home.
* For Easter plans with family at opposite end of the state taking shape.
* For DVR, which allows me to zone out to some pre-recorded mindless TV shows til I hit the bed early tonight...

Oh, yeah. Thanks for the 70 degree weather and a chance to walk briefly along the river...big one.

This early evening I give thanks for:

another lovely spring day

John McCann's steel cut Irish Oatmeal

sampling agave nectar for the first time

my weekly Feldencrais class and the very noticeable benefits I am accruing

discovering a small, healing garden tucked in beside, and part of, the Health and Healing Center

meditating when I arrived early for class

my hot pink socks

the pleasure of rereading Thich Nhat Hanh's lovely little book, The Miracle of Mindfulness

the gift of time alone and the gift of time with others

a profound sense of well being.

Peace and blessings to all.
